Customer service was good, restaurant was cozy, and food was out of this world. I came today and saw they were in a new location. Initially felt "cool" but immediately was greeted with a cold demeanor. Half of our table are Filipino born and raised, while my sister and I are born in the US. I asked for bottled water and they had one bottle left. My dad (born in the Philippines), watched the lady who initially sat us down who mocked me for asking for bottled water. I had my back to the restaurant the entire time, so I didn't see a lot of the interaction, but my dad saw and understood it all. We ordered the sisig - undercooked. The pancit hab hab - underwhelming. They had no soda, and we all (9) had to share 1 big bottle of water. Ok, fine, no troubles. Then, they ran out of plenty of entrees, so we were limited on what to order. My sister watched the staff spray the table while there were still items on it, while my dad watched and listened as the staff were gossiping about all the patrons (including us) in the restaurant. It was quite uncomfortable. Sorry not sorry, but this place is no longer it and the entire staff needs an entire overhaul of retraining if you want to salvage this place.

I've tried a few vegetarian places in Binondo, but this relatively newish addition to Chinatown takes the whole cake! Taiwanese-owned Green Planet Vegetarian serves a variety of tasty vegetarian and vegan food at super 'sulit' prices. Much like a super clean, glorified 'turo-turo', you can get a rice meal with 3 viands for only Php 100, and with complimentary hot tea, too! Try their veggie sisig (creamy and dairy-free!) and their crowd-pleaser, fried miteng (gluten), which has a beautiful, chewy texture and savory flavor--amazing when dipped in vinegar. Another favorite of mine is their radish cake, a slice for only Php 15! Being sold here as well are vegetarian and vegan food items such as Magic Meat (dehydrated TVP made locally), canned barbecue sauce, and this Taiwanese granulated mushroom seasoning (reminiscent of the local Magic Sarap seasoning--look for the package with that very strange smiling mushroom). Their food tastes so good, you can't even tell that everything is made out of tofu. It's way healthier and cheaper. I usually have issues concerning my weight. I just can't imagine myself looking fat. Whenever I feel like I am gaining a few pounds, I just stop eating at fast food restaurants and I go to healthier options like Bodhi. Sure it's all veg -- but the way they put everything together is wonderful. If you want to ease into it, try their Olives & Capers pasta. It got the balance between salty and sweet just right (and this for me is no mean feat). Be a little more adventurous and order the mushroom quinoa, or the suuuuper sarap Baked Stuffed Tomato, two big garden tomatoes stuffed with veggies and topped with cheese. They use cheese from nuts so if you're hardcore vegetarian-vegan, no worries there. They serve it with brown AND red rice! Yay for me!!! know, I know. The salads are definitely not of the "tasteless green stuff" variety, and you can choose from a menu or make a salad up yourself. They have everything from nacho salads to pasta salads to some special ones like the Roast Pumpkin which has bits of fruit and nut in them. You can even choose to have your salad wrapped in pita, if you want to eat your salad on-the-go. It was one of the more appealing choices for me because there was meat in it, unlike the other choices that contained mostly veggies, fruit, or cheese. And the flavor didn't disappoint at all. The ingredients were obviously fresh and went well together in one bite, just like a good, hearty salad, minus the overpowering dressing. They put their EVOO and vinaigrette as free-flowing condiments you can have on the side, so I tried them and they made each bite even better. My friend even put sriracha on his salad pasta. If there's anything I'm not jumping up and down about Juju Eats is the price. But then again, it's hard to find restaurants with really affordable guiltless offerings these days, especially in the Philippines. Also, don't expect to be filled especially if you have a usually big appetite (As a result, we walked to the nearby Jamba Juice stall at Eco Plaza, LOL.) I was excited to try their veg sisig as it was one of their specialties, but I was a bit disappointed as the serving was quite small (at Php 170...) and while it was seasoned well and had a variety of mushrooms and minced tofu/soy/gluten (unsure...), I guess it lacked that creamy sauce that I loved when I used to eat the real pork sisig. Either way, whichever you buy drinks from, you'll surely satisfy your thirst and taste buds. Whenever my family watches a movie in the Power Plant Mall, I either get coconut juice or have my regular Supercharger in The Big Chill. It has mango, strawberry and grape, 3 of my favorite fruits and has a blend of anti-oxidants, nutrients and amino acids so what's not to like? It tastes so good too! Don't let the striking green color make you think it tastes like bland vegetables because it doesn't. I've tasted their sandwiches too but they're nothing special. Green mango and pineapple paradise are delicious choices as well and I make it a point to couple them with Spirulina - which is a super food that is good for your immune system and rich in protein.

I still wanted a drink, so I was like, "why the hell not, I'll try it out." I ordered their Power Breakfast, which was oats and bananas. I fully expected to not really love it. Boy, was I wrong. I absolutely loved that thing. Obviously, it tasted like breakfast. I like eating fresh bananas, but normally, I dislike bananas in juices and shakes 'cause it stops tasting fresh. However, Big Chill's shake tastes like I'm eating the bananas. It's grinded just well enough so that there's no annoyingly huge chunks of ice that I hate when it comes to shakes or smoothies.
