I had a bad experience with O'Flaherty Landscaping in Whitby. Among other work, they applied…read morepolymeric sand on my pavers on May 17, 2026. Subsequently, when it rained, the sand was washing away. On June 19th, Jim O'Flaherty and a rep from the manufacturer came to assess the issue. Jim clearly said that if he uses a sealant, it will solve the issue. On June 20th, Jim applied a sealant. On July 3rd, when we had heavy rain, the sand was still washing away making a mess. I took pictures on July 3rd and sent an email to O'Flaherty Landscaping, which was ignored. I also called Jim on July 3rd to let him know and he said there is nothing more he can do, falsely blamed it on the sand and said to deal with the manufacturer. This is against the Consumer Protection Act since the contractor is ultimately responsible to fix the issue. On the Google review that I did, O'Flahertys responded with lies to save face. They also said they put more polymeric sand on July 3rd before they sealed it. This is a lie. They only sealed it. They also lied that the pictures I attached to my Google review was before the remedial work. The remedial work was done on June 20th and on July 3rd, when we had heavy rain I took pictures and sent them an email with the pictures, as mentioned above, which was ignored. They also installed new sod as part of the project. Subsequently, there was a big dead patch of grass. Theresa gave me a black bag of soil. Again they lied saying they also gave me grass seed which they did not. The manufacturer told Jim to call me to fix the issue but he did not call. The manufacturer told me the sand is not defective but that it was incorrectly installed. Jim is not owning it but instead chose to abandon me. I have all the emails and conversations documented as proof in case I decide to take next steps.

Throughout, our project was marred by delays, setbacks, mistakes, and frustrations in dealing with a company that refuses to take accountability and has very little interest in striving for customer satisfaction. In the end the experience was wholly unpleasant and I would not recommend this company. I waited a year to post this review in a fair effort to have the owner address multiple deficiencies (for details see Homestars review). After being ignored and receiving more gaslighting comments, I finally felt that it was important for other potential customers to hear of a different experience with this company. In my opinion, a company's true nature is shown by how they address mistakes and strive for customer satisfaction. No one is perfect but to continually ignore, deflect and string along a paying customer like ME did to us is completely unacceptable.
