Main Street Antiques is an absolute gem for anyone who loves discovering unique pieces with history…read moreand character. Prices are fair for the quality, and there's a wide enough range that both casual browsers and serious collectors can find something special. I'll be back!

My husband and I have visited this store a few times. It's beautiful, neat, and the prices on some…read morethings are reasonable. However, we visited today and were not treated well. We are told often that we look young (20's) for our age (40's), so that can sometimes play a role in how we are treated, i.e. the respect and trust you would offer a 25 year old vs. a 41 year old. We are antiques dealers ourselves and are constantly looking for new inventory to offer our buyers. We enjoy the hunt but unfortunately, the employees of this store sucked the joy out of our experience. It started out with a feigned, "pleasant" greeting. As we moved around the store we could feel the employees following us around with their eyes and with their bodies. There were three employees tailing us. We started by looking at the knick-knacks on the shelves. My husband was interested in some silver items but we wanted to look around more before we made our purchases. I wanted to look at the costume rings on the counter. Feeling the eyes of suspicion on me, I rolled up my sleeves to ease the tension as the employee followed us over to watch me look at rings with my husband by my side. We were trying to be polite and make small talk. Disarm them a bit. We chatted with the woman, in her 60's, watching us like a hawk. We mentioned an amazing find we had at Goodwill earlier in the day. Then my husband showed her a 1950s class ring he bought at the flea market for a dollar. One would think that she, as an antiques dealer, would be interested in such information. She was, however, non-reactive, uninterested, and unpleasant. I didn't find any rings I liked. So, we moved around the store a bit more. We hear the saleswoman say "Don". Ushering to the man who greeted us when we walked in. They then began having a hushed conversation. We continued to be followed for the next 5 or so minutes. We didn't know if we were imagining it, if they did this to all customers, or how to make them stop. Should we have turned our empty pockets inside out? I didn't even have my purse with me. Ultimately we decided to just leave. I was heartbroken and felt sickened from the treatment we received. I really liked that store but feel far too uncomfortable to go back. I also feel a bit angry about the experience. I gave two stars instead of one because it really is a beautiful shop with wonderful treasures. Maybe if you are the right age and look the right way, you won't be judged and tailed. Give it a shot!
