Sneaky good gyro in St. Cloud. Worth the stop if you are hungry in the area with the lack of good options in the area! I targeted this place while pacing through because I will go ANYWHERE that says they have a way to spice up there gyro. I got the Philly Gyro and had the guy "spice it up" for a buck. Spicing it up means throwing some hot sauce on it. First impressions - good flavor, not very spicy, and a little "soupy" fir my liking. The Tzatziki and hot sauce combo is pretty watery and it soaks through the pita real quick. I made an absolute mess. Ended up forking through the remnants of my disintegrating sandwich - worth it - still tasty. If you are a St. Cloudian or SCSU student - check this joint out. I was up in St. Cloud for a short bit of time and came across this restaurant after reading good reviews. I ordered the spicy Gyro and boy was it spicy, it sort of kicked my butt. I will say I was a little disappointed by the flavor, because all I could taste was hot sauce. I couldn't even pick it up to take a bite because bread got soggy. The samosas were delicious. I enjoyed those with the sauce. I might come back to try other things, but it would be lower on my list of places to return to. The gentleman that helped me seem very nice and was possibly one of the owners. he greeted me with a smile and see to take pride in his restaurant. This is a smaller place so not a ton of seating. We stopped by here on our way through town and found on-street parking. It looks like there is a lot across the street as well. Either way, the current price is $1.00 per hour via the nearby pay station. There was only one person working on Wednesday afternoon, so there was a brief wait before we ordered. We ordered the Classic Gyro and two Falafel Gyros with fries. The Gyro meat was sliced from a typical vertical spit broiler and had those crispy edges you don't get if the meat comes off a grill. The falafels were very good and clearly freshly made. I don't think I would get the green spice on my fries again (celery salt maybe?) but otherwise it was a good meal. read more

Greek Cravings is in downtown St. Cloud MN. In the Petters building which is listed on the National Historical Register. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available. I'm just guessing here but indoor is preferred during winter. But folks here are pretty tough so maybe not. GC is a gem. Very typical Greek menu with each item perfectly prepared. The classic gyro is a big portion so I skipped the fries but they looked good. Both the fries and falafel were made to order. The tabouli salad was more than my companion could finish. It got a rave review just like each item I tried. The woman taking care of everyone was in constant motion. She took orders once and remembered every selection for several people. Wow. The prices are very reasonable to the point of needing increasing. But not my call. I certainly would not have balked at higher prices especially knowing how great it was. So glad to have stumbled upon this restaurant while driving through the area! It's located on a charming main street in Downtown St. Cloud with patio tables out front. It was nice and sunny during my brief visit, so I got to sit outside and people watch while soaking up some Vitamin D. I went in yesterday for lunch while in St. Cloud on a work conference. Many people from the conference decided to grab lunch there as well. Needless to say it was very busy. First of all, food was SO good. Second, a man by the name of Amrit was the only one working the food line and he handled the rush with such grace. He was quick and efficient delivering quality service. So much so that I had to ask his name and thank him personally. A friend and I stopped at Greek Cravings on the way home from Fargo to Minneapolis. It was empty when we walked in at 3pm on a Sunday, but the guy behind the counter were really great and we enjoyed chatting with him a bit. We each ordered a falafel gyro, then I had a side of spanakopita and my friend had a side of hummus with pita. I also remember the water coolers being really icy and there were slices of citrus fruit in them, which was a refreshing touch. The falafel was awesome. We are both huge fans of falafel and have pretty high standards, and Greek Cravings definitely made the cut. It wasn't too greasy, perfectly crispy on the outside, and soft and delicious on the inside. The vegetables in the gyro were fresh and crisp, and the tzatziki was great. Yum. The hummus, on the other hand, wasn't great. It looked delicious, but it was grainy and not evenly mixed. So it wasn't bad, but it had a weird oily consistency that I wasn't really a fan of. The spanakopita wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was tasty. The falafel would have been enough for us, but after several hours of driving we had overestimated our hunger. My beloved and I stopped in here for a late dinner one night. We each ordered a classic gyro. When they arrived, they were pretty hefty in size, served warm, overflowing with ingredients, and fairly tasty in flavor. They had plenty of tzatziki sauce, which we loved. The lamb meat was sliced, not cubed, as you'll find in other local gyro restaurants. The ambiance of the place isn't terrific. It reminds me more of a deli than a sit down casual restaurant. I stopped into Greek Cravings for the first time a few days ago and boy oh boy was it the right day to come. They had a special $1.00 Gyro deal going on to bring the St. Cloud community into downtown St. Cloud, and it worked like a charm! The line was massive, but the wait was well worth it. People were leaving with multiple plastic bags of gyros, so their deal was a hit. I personally purchased 2 gyros and it was the best 2 bucks I could've spent. I was not disappointed whatsoever. Their meat and fixin's were fresh and both gyros came out hot, so by the time I got home, I could still enjoy them. The gyro meat was flavorful and there was plenty of it. My husband and I were going to go to Jimmy Johns to use a gift card. When we got there we decided to try Greek Cravings instead. So glad we did. The wraps we had were amazing. The hummus wrap had fresh veggies, feta, and tzatziki sauce. The fresh taste if the tzatziki went well with the saltiness of the feta and the crisp veggies. So good. I went here with a friend on aThursday night. This seems like a place for takeout only. There are tables inside but they are pretty awkward. You order at the counter. We asked a few questions about the dishes and didn't get any real answers. I ordered the falafel gyro and my friend ordered the Mediterranean gyro. They said they had to make the lamb so it would be 15 minutes and I told them to just bring mine out with my friend's since we were eating there. Eventually he told us it was ready but didn't bring it to our table so that was weird. Then he asked what toppings I wanted on mine and I told him and he put them all on the lamb gyro and he put my friend's toppings on top of the falafel. Then I ordered a gyro and literally got 4 falafel balls on top of rice. I was really disappointed and the only reason I'll give this 3 stars is because my fiend enjoyed it. I won't be back and this place needs to do a lot better. First with explaining the food and then with keeping the orders straight. If I wanted plain falafel, I would have ordered that. I liked this place however the parking is a bit of a challenge since it's street parking only. However this was my very first time so I wanted to see what was in store. When my co worker and I came in we got in line and looked at the menu. I ordered a Greek salad with chicken and I noticed this was a one man a show which makes things go rather slow because after someone places their order they have to wait for him to cook it and plate it and then ring it up all while the other customer is still standing in line waiting to place their order. I am accustomed to there being a cook and someone to ring up the orders to make sure when they get busy the customers don't have to wait long. I didn't like the salad much because It had to many calamara olives on this salad which kind of overpowered it to the point where I had to start picking them out. That Made the salad not so great at all, and I also seen that many tables weren't clean because of the one man show. I will come another time to see if this place get's any better read more
