We attended the July 28th performance of this most wonderful community orchestra. How they have grown in musicality and professionalism during the last few years. There is an undeniable bond between the musicians and their remarkable conductor, Russell Ger, that is easily sensed by an audience participant. It seems to be a mutual admiration society. He obviously inspires them to reach for their highest levels. And to watch him conduct is equally inspirational for the audience. His short monologues before each selection lead to a much deeper understanding and appreciation of the composer, the culture of the times and the brilliance of the music. And watching Mr. Ger as he conducts, one is sure to conclude that you are watching someone akin to the great humanitarian Leonard Bernstein. I feel like a better person for having attended the GNSO performances. read more
