Trust me, you do NOT want to use Greater Dayton construction. Short story: terrible communicators, took significantly longer to complete the project than quoted, and did a HORRIBLE job!!! Long story: Our finished basement flooded causing a lot of damage and requiring new flooring, baseboards, doors, and paint job. Our insurance company gave us a list of potential contractors to use and we unfortunately chose Greater Dayton for this project. When they first came out, they took incorrect measurements of the basement, so when they returned for us to begin choosing carpet and paint colors, they realized their mistake and we had to submit the new measurements to our insurance as it changed the price significantly. This of course delayed the start of our project. We were told to expect a phone call to schedule when they would start and were informed repeatedly that once they started it would take just about a week to complete everything. We never received a call. Instead, one day the painters just showed up unannounced to our house when we weren't there. We had to rush home to let them in so they could get started. The painters did a horrible, very clearly rushed job. My husband had to go out and buy more paint and put another coat of paint on the walls himself because they wouldn't. Then after they put in the new carpet, they ghosted us for over a week while we were still waiting for them to put in the new baseboards, put the sink and toilet back in the bathroom, and put the new doors on. When we finally heard from them they said they'd be back to finish everything, but then showed up a day later than they said, put the new baseboards in, but forgot to bring the doors. They actually frequently would forget materials needed and have to delay the work. They also didn't put the toilet or sink back. They said they'd be back that same day to do it but then disappeared again! Also one of the joints of the baseboards is misaligned and looks awful. And when they finally put the doors back on, one of them doesn't latch! They started this project on September 2 and just today (October 15) finally finished. So "just about a week" actually means a month and a half, and also you'll probably be redoing some of their shoddy work. Just do yourself a favor and use someone else! read more

Never called me back, put my job off and never had paperwork with them. After doing aTERRIBLE job, didn't shim the toilet and told me to do it, shoved my sink back into the wall and or didn't fit so instead of doing it right they jammed it in, chipped my molding, didn't fix it and left a huge gap between the wall and sink. Didn't caulk around the toilet and floor and left a 3 inch gap so water could get between and told me to worry about it. Now that it's "done" , what a joke, they call everyday for payment. have still not sent me a broken down bill I have requested and taped a Lien on my door. JOKE OF A COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!! read more

We are absolutely delighted with our resort like master bath! We were hooked from the time we saw the architectural drawings of our dream bathroom. Greater Dayton Construction was the most professional group of people to work with for an early completion exactly on budget. We loved working with designer James who measured on site, had multiple options, and worked with us on materials list. The weekly written updates with photos were unbelievably reassuring since we were out of town much of the construction time. These weekly updates kept everything on schedule even with unforeseen circumstances that need to be considered. We have been through several renovations in the past but this one has been exceptional. I would not hire Great Dayton to build a doghouse, even if they offered to do it for free. They were my insurance company's preferred contractor and hired to reconstruct my house after water loss. Once the project was finished, we encountered a host of issues. The issues were addressed with the project manager but he had a difficult time taking responsibility for the work of his team and blamed his sub contractors. After explaining our issues, he reluctantly agreed to address our issues. Not satisfactory. When we attempted to call them on their 3-year workmanship, they have made the process very arduous, if not impossible to get them to take responsibility for their work. They have been to my house 3 times, and want to come for a fourth, just to take pictures. They decided they didn't perform the work they were paid for according to the adjusters report just so they didn't have to remedy secondary loss due to their unsatisfactory work. I consider this to be fraud and deception on part of Greater Dayton Construction. I would also like to mention it took numerous emails and phone calls to get a disposition from Greater Dayton Construction, almost 6 months in. We've even requested to speak with someone in a leadership position to discuss the extremely slow response times in correspondence and the issue at hand. Our requests have not been honored or acknowledged in over 6 months in still communication with a non-articulate assistant! Do waste your time, money, or sanity with this company. read more

We had a sewage back up in the lower level floor of our house. After the clean up, Greater Dayton came out to give us a quote on replacing the walls, painting, and replacing carpet. The quote seemed reasonable. We decided that we could do some of the work ourselves and let them know to adjust the quote, which they did. The gentleman that came out to do the drywall work was fine. we were waiting on the carpet man and he took over a week just to come out and look at it. Then we found out that he called our claims adjuster with our insurance company to get additional money to move furniture that is in our lower level, which was already on our quote. We then realized we were charged over $1200 for the unhooking and hooking back up of a water heater, water softener, and tub basin. It's literally 6 bolts to unscrew and screw back together. Shame on us for trusting the company. The carpet quote was for less than that. We then asked for a breakdown of what had already been done so we could see what they were billing us for so far. They refused to do that. They kept saying they would send us another quote without the carpet which is not what we wanted. There just seemed to be so much shadiness with this company after they started the work and realized it was an insurance claim. Issues that has been issues with Greater Dayton Construction group. 1. Multiple safety hazards. 2. Extremely poor painting skills. Never cleaned up behind them. 3. Project MGR. caught in many lies. 4. Work went well over agreed completion deadline. 5. Trying to get them to finalize the bill took over a month and a half. We were very disappointed with Greater Dayton, based on their good reputation. We signed with them several months before moving into a new house, based on the fact that they said they could get our work done PRIOR to us moving in (understanding it would be a tight schedule, we were hoping they at least came within a week or so). Our start date was delayed approximately seven times. Work was suppose to begin right before Labor Day. The week before Christmas, we were told that the contract we signed was void and to begin work by mid January, we would have to sign a new contract. At this point, since we no longer had a contract, we decided to separate from this company. After all of this, we were told that 1/3 of our deposit would not be refunded, as it would be used to cover meetings and design selections. read more

I hired Greater Dayton Construction in 2013 to complete a few renovation projects. Of the 4 jobs I hired them for, none of them were done without a problem. Keep an eye on these guys! Jobs took longer than expected, but within budget. This is a general contractor, so the people who sell you the service are not the ones doing the work. The subcontractors were nice, but not the most professional. Some work had to be re-done. The subs they hire do good framing and interior work, but don't hire them for outside (soffit, gutter, etc) type work. I had to withhold the final 10% payment to make sure they finished the job. I made final payment 14 months after the job started because it took them that long to finish the outside work to reasonable standards. Overall, the jobs I hired them for are done, but I won't be calling them back for any future work. Not worth the hassle. read more
