He said he'd find me someone here in Austin that I can trust. This turned out to be Steve Shire. The things that I liked most about Steve are: 1. He is very accessible. That was big for me. From previous experience with another guy, I realized that I wanted someone who would constantly keep me updated on our progress. In fact, when I mentioned this to Steve, he told me that if there was any issue it would be that he would provide me with too many updates. That, to me, was a good sign. 2. He is thorough. He took the time to explain things to me, and he seemed generally interested in actually helping me get the best deal I could. I didn't feel like I was just another transaction. I felt like he enjoys helping people and he offered me suggestions and ideas for ways to save money on any future work that I have done to the place. 3. He is a martial artist and has helped a lot of others find a gym. Obviously this won't apply to many people, but if anybody else is looking to open a gym, it's nice to know that you're working with a guy who understands the ins and outs of what you need in a space. Rather than waste my time with my previous Realtor, I contacted Don Quick and was put in touch with Darren Quick, who immediately set up a viewing. (By immediately, I mean within 24 hours we were inside the space,) Unfortunately, the space we were originally interested in fell through because the landlord wasn't a huge fan of pets, which really wouldn't have worked, since I am a pet photographer and artist - pets are part of my daily business life! We were absolutely heartbroken at losing the first space, but Darren did not disappoint and went to work searching for another space for our business to call home. Within a week, he set up another viewing for a great little retail property and now, about a month later, our lease is signed and we are planning on moving in over the next few weeks after some basic build-outs are taken care of. Darren is extremely personable, yet professional and really gave us the time and attention we need when searching for our new studio space. This is our first business location, so it was great to have a Realtor working with us to ensure that the space fits all of our needs.
