Average Chinese take-out My regular Chinese take-out place is closed, so this was my first time eating here. Not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but not the worst. Basically your average ordinary take-out, which isn't a horrible thing. Egg rolls were nice and crispy; love that. I had the broccoli in garlic sauce (could have been a little spicier) and was surprised to find it included other veggies as well... carrots, snow peas, mushrooms... special little touch. Crab Rangoon were hard as a rock, like they were pulled out of a box from the frozen food isle. The steamed dumplings and fried dumplings were basically the same. Didn't notice any difference.The pork fried rice was very sticky but the flavor was there, the consistency was just off putting. Overall just an average place... wouldn't be my first choice to return to. read more

Stopped for a to go order, lunch specials general tso and sweet n sour chicken. They forgot both soups for the combo and the sns chicken was full of grease. It was dripping out of it. Since I appear to be the first reviewer: this is your typical Chinese takeout place, with an outdated facade, the smell of burnt oil lingering in the interior, and a polite, meek lady behind the counter who is sweet as pie until she turns around and screams out your order to the cooks. The food is not authentic Chinese or something you want to eat every day or even every week since it'll kill you slowly with high blood pressure or MSG poisoning or whatever, but when you just don't want to cook, it's a good cheap meal. That said, this used to be my number one Chinese place for a long time. I would ALWAYS get curry chicken, a pork roll, and wonton soup (some of the best I'd ever had, even if rumors are true and it's made of cats). Sometimes I'd get pork fried rice thrown in - you know, the really salty kind with turmeric-yellow rice and the cherry red pork that somehow tastes better than meat that actually looks like meat. Their moo goo gai pan, cashew chicken, and egg foo yung were good, too. But a few years ago it felt like the quality of their food went downhill . . . the onions in my curry started coming out practically raw, the boyfriend's General Tso's wasn't as tasty, there was more salt and less taste to the wonton broth, and it just didn't seem as good. Not offensive, just not as good. It's still not nearly as bad as some of the stuff I've encountered in cities, but since China Wok opened in nearby Schnecksville you might as well make the 10-minute drive. Unless, of course, you're just in the shopping area and want something quick that isn't McDonald's. Or if you're specifically looking for wonton soup - in that case, your safest bet is still Great Wall. read more

THE NOT SO GREAT WALL. My wife and I used to love their food. The place is dirty. Here is just one example of the poor food. A few months ago I ordered General Tso chicken. It tasted like battered twigs and fat. It was disgusting. I told the attendant. I ordered a takeout of General Tso a few weeks ago and told the attendant of my past experience here. He assured me that it will be fresh and all chicken. I was lied too. This General tso tasted like breaded chicken feet fried in extremely old oil. I will never set foot in that place again. Recently they stopped their Buffett. I wonder why !!! I wonder if it was their idea? I am so disappointed because the town and surrounding areas have a great reputation for having a diverse choice of great resraraunts. Hands down some of the best takeout that I have eaten everything is fresh and tasty and they sure make it fast. If you call and order around 4:30pm they have your food very fast. If you like chinese try this place it's worth the trip no matter where you live. read more

Ordered egg foo young tonight. When we got home 15 minutes away we discovered the gravy was curdled but only after pouring it on the egg foo young. Called Great Wall to tell them it was bad. He would only give us a $2.00 credit. This was a $9.00 entree. It was uneatable. Wish I could give them a zero. Unacceptable offer by the store. Unhappy with the customer treatment. read more

First, the good: SHRIMP TOAST = AMAZING!!!! I am no Chinese Food connoisseur by any means, but their Shrimp Toast is amazingly yummy and consistent....it truly is the reason I eat here. Not greasy. Not slimy. Not burnt. Not dry. Now the bad: MOST DEPRESSING FORTUNE COOKIES EVER!! Seriously, I don't know what they are thinking....but I would imagine that suicidal customers would not be good for repeat business. Just sayin' My last fortune? YOUR PROBLEM JUST GOT BIGGER. This is a follow up review - where I gave this place a 4 start rating in the past, I now give them 1 star. The food here has changed although it appears the same staff is working here. Soup, egg roll, chicken was all bland and the rice was not cooked properly. I'm not sure after the last 2 visits if I will return to this place. I tried Great Wall tonight since I was going to be at that shopping center. The food was bland and the shrimp in my low mein were mushy. The wonton soup had no flavor. Unfortunately, I will not be going to Great Wall ever again. I should have just gotten it where I usually go. Chinese food is one of my favorites and I usually have seconds but my husband and I couldn't even finish our first plates. Sorry Great Wall. read more
