The salmon teriyaki bento box with salmon teriyaki, California rolls, shumai, and white rice. Lunch: $11.95. Dinner: $14.95

I am in love with China House. The food is always well done and high quality. The hundreds of times I've been there, I've never been able to complain about my food or the service. I appreciate that they have Chinese, Japanese, and Thai options to suit all of your Asian food needs. A few menu items I'd recommend would be: Chicken fried udon, shrimp chow fun, shrimp pad Thai, the teriyaki bento boxes, and the sashimi deluxe. These are all fantastic options that are made fresh for every order, and taste delicious. If you're craving some Asian food, this is definitely the place to go.

There were only 3 and that had me pretty disappointed, but the flavor was on point. Moist inside with a crisp outer shell. Then the crispy calamari. A peppery batter and the inside was tender, not chewy. The portions for this were perfect, not too much, but a fair appetizer size. I finished off with the shrimp teriyaki. This was served on a bed of shredded vegetables and a side of rice. It had everything to be a good dish, but the sauce was lacking and tasted like a watered down teriyaki with pepper. I just wasn't here for it, but if you like an extremely mild teriyaki then it might be for you! Service: The waitress was attentive and even stopped by to refill my water. I really enjoy when they stop a few times so if you are needing extra sauce or condiments you can request them. Overall an ok experience. Ambiance: The atmosphere was different than I had expected. Dark walls with blue lights all over. The lighting was too dark for my personal taste and I'd prefer a classic white or candlelight style lighting when eating. Value: My meal was a great value for how much food I received and the variety of food. In total, my meal was $16 for 3 appetizer sized dishes, rice, and a bowl of soup. Recommend: If you are looking for a cool atmosphere with a fairly priced lunch menu, I would say this is the spot for you. If you were looking for bold flavors and a more authentic experience, I would opt to pass.

Because of that alone, it attracts a great mix of local regulars, even on weeknights, which gives it a lively but comfortable vibe. The décor is modern and fun without trying too hard, exactly the kind of place you want to settle into for a relaxed late-night meal. It feels welcoming, not rushed, and perfect for lingering over a bowl of ramen. The service matches that energy: friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to have you there, which makes a big difference late at night. Given the other reviews, the ramen wasn't horrible. Not sure why the complaints are expressed. In real honesty, unless the bowl of ramens (is that plural?) are teleported straight from Japan - not going to expect a lot. Which is even more noteworthy to mention that food-wise, there's a nice variety to choose from, whether you're craving something rich and comforting or lighter and more balanced. Ramen does not have to be the one, all the time. (Even though the winter season makes it more satiating to have ramen.) Everything feels thoughtfully put together, and it's clear this is a place that takes pride in both flavor and experience. We had a variety of apps, bubble teas, and there was dessert at the end, too. For versatility, this is a definitely a good spot. If comparing to cuisines from Japan, um... I think we should lower our standards a bit and just enjoy the ambience, and night out. Overall, I'm so glad this spot exists for us night owls. It fills a much-needed gap in the local food scene and has quickly become the kind of place you're grateful to know about when everything else is closed. Please support your local businesses!

I was looking for a place to grab dinner before going to the movies, and since I hadn't had sushi in a while, I decided to give Sumo a try. Kicked things off with the crispy calamari, which was perfectly fried. It's a familiar favorite, served with a sweet chili sauce that complements it nicely. Next up were the Kani salad and seafood miso soup. While the soup was loaded with seafood, both dishes were fairly average and a bit bland. For the main event, sushi! I tried the Sumo Roll, with spicy crunchy salmon and avocado inside, topped with seared salmon, white tuna, crispy rice ball, and tobiko with the chef's special sauce. I also had the Cracked Lobster Roll, filled with spicy shrimp and lobster, sweet potato tempura, and topped with Kani salad and a Japanese cracker with garlic mango sauce. Both were fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Overall, everything was enjoyable. I'd rank Sumo somewhere in the middle among the sushi spots I've tried.

I ordered shrimp and scallop hibachi and it was incredibly oily and greasy, and the portion of shrimp and scallops was tiny. My friend also got hibachi and felt the same way. My salad was watery, and the clear mushroom soup tasted very strange. I couldn't take more than a bite of either the soup or the salad. For my entree, asked the server if I could please have extra vegetables instead of noodles, and she said that there was a "language barrier" in the kitchen, so she didn't want to ask that. I thought that was an odd comment for her to make. My daughter ordered some sushi rolls and liked them, and my husband and our friend also liked their sushi; so maybe sushi is a better choice here. The place is small and to echo other reviewers, tables are very crammed together and you will bump in to other people just by moving around. The place is cool looking on the inside and outside, definitely an interesting vibe, and they have a full bar. We did have to ask multiple times about the status of our beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). My drink was not good, it was a sake/lemon drop hybrid type of thing and it was insanely sweet - I couldn't finish it.
