TLDR/ Hard Pass on this. 1/5 Food: The Mongolian Beef was not great and none of the vegetables were cooked and the fried rice was tasteless but not as dry as I expected it to be. The soup was so thick it was almost inedible and had a vaguely eggy flavor as it contained nothing but egg. No vegetables-- just egg and an exorbitant amount of cornstarch for thickener. 0/5 Service: Nonexistent. They don't even have cups for water. You have to buy bottled. It is clear this should not even have. Dine in option as they are. Or a dine in restaurant. Food was served to me in plastic go containers. 1/5 Ambiance: Dirty walls and a front of house that needs a deep clean. The pandemic never left this place. There is a giant plexiglass wall between you and the cashier which is laughable because there is also a door that separates the front and back of the counter but then directly next to the door in between the floating door jam and the giant plexiglass wall, there is a gap of about 1 1/2 feet that is just open air, so the germs are getting back there anyway folks. read more

I actually really like the food. This location leaves much to be desired in the forms of customer service. I placed an online lunch order and paid online. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was told that they do not accept online payment, which is strange as I had to input my card information to make the order and was asked to pay again. I will be double checking to be sure that I wasn't charged twice and will dispute those charges if I was. I waited ten minutes in an empty restaurant while all employees were on their phones while my order hadn't been started. I'm 20 minutes into waiting and have yet to receive my order, despite ordering ahead online. I'm about to request a refund. read more

It was honestly disappointing, it had no flavor. They basically sell hot food that tastes kinda gross. But you burn your mouth so much you can't tell if it's even good. We went here in hope of great Chinese food. My husband ordered sweet and sour chicken and pork fried rice and I order chicken wings and pork fried rice. We end it up at McDonald's which is sad because we paid 37 dollars for small amounts of food which we couldn't eat. Wings has chunks of possible chicken seasoning the Spanish kind that comes on cubes. All of it end it up in the trash with if two minutes of us trying. Go to subway or McDonalds if you are in the area just stick to chains. We where there for the weekend remainder restaurants where not that good of a choice either. read more

Great food. However there are several sacrifices to be made when eating here. 1. Horrible customer service. Do not ever expect to be treated kindly or politely by the staff. My wife has left nearly in tears before based on the way they treated her. 2. Their most popular menu item is the Sesame Chicken. As a result they only offer this item as a combo (the largest portion & most expensive option) rather than allowing a smaller, less expensive portion to be ordered when needed. This in my opinion a very sneaky & deceptive tactic. I asked one time about ordering in the smaller pint size. The employee rudely said no & then immediately walked away.... Again, the food is great, but the horrible service keeps me from being a frequent patron. Maybe someday that will change. Food is cooked to order and pretty good; serving sizes are large. So about the staff; I don't know if I would call them rude but they are definitely unfriendly. Competition is increasing in Derby with Panda Express in town now and a Chinese buffet joint supposedly opening up right down the street. It would be in their best interest to step it up in the customer relations department, a simple smile would work wonders... Pro tip: if you use their online ordering system DO NOT enter your credit card info into their website. When they receive your order, your credit card # and expiration date gets printed onto a piece of paper along with your order which they give to you when you pick up your order. This is your garden variety Americanized Chinese carryout place. We ordered Lo-mein and beef with broccoli and it came to almost 30 bucks. Nothing seemed to be bursting with flavor. I mean, it was just OK. For a hole in the wall place like this, you'd expect a little more passion put in their food. For the money though, you're really better off spending 23 dollars and getting the chinese family meal at Dillon's for the same quality but still get a WHOLE lot more. read more

I'm not a 'service' snob. I care about cleanliness & quality of food. Service was nothing great but not bad either. We ordered at counter and sat down. No need for random chit chat. Food: Crab rangoons - hubby didn't like cause the putter shell ws sweet but I real liked them! Chicken fried rice - not really fried rice. .Lol. More of a chicken broth flavored yellow rice with a few pork (yes pork, not chicken) cubes and some onions. It's wasn't bad but was not the typical fried rice. Pork Lo Mein - OMG it was the best I've ever had. It's wasn't oily. Not smooshy/over cooked noodles. Soooo much flavor. And plenty of tender meat. .... My whole family loooved it. Beef Rice Noodles - so looking at it when we took lid off we felt totally jipped but it's was so full of flavor. The noodles weren't stuck together in clumps like most rice noodles. Will get this again. Was my 10yr old boy's fav (along w/Lo Mein in 2nd) General Tsos Chicken / it's had good flavor he said but the chicken was over cooked, very hard/crunchy. The lo mein was decent but the chicken fried rice, it tasted like some sort of cleaner had been sprayed on it and was neon yellow. Two bites to make sure I wasn't imagining things and it went in the trash. Not to mention it felt like I was bothering the staff just by picking up my order. Interesting story...my uncle Darren used to always tell me that the best restaurants look dirty. Well according to my uncle Darren, the food at the Great Wall was going to be great! Here's the problem, by all accounts my uncle Darren was an idiot and he died from food poisoning. The employees seemed to be 30 something dudes who just came off a Friday night bender. Service sucks a lot. The girls there are really rude, they don't even greet you when you enter the restaurant. They give me a lot of attitude when I was ordering. Food is not all that great. I feel like a lot of the reviews for this restaurant are a bit too critical. The food is generally very good, tasty, large portion sizes, and very reasonable prices. I don't go way too often, but I have not encountered any rude staff yet so I'm not sure what everyone is talking about. Maybe it just depends on what hours you go and who was working. Had dinner inside. Almost no diners. However huge take out business the staff is not people oriented but food is always fresh, consistently tasty, and saying thank you in Chinese always gets a smile. We just moved to Kansas a year ago and we have been looking for our new go to take out joint. This place so far seems to fit the bill. I have been here twice and dined in. The place os very clean, the food is freah and made to order right in front of you and the staff is polite. Ok, so for anyone not familiar with the Great Wall food chains, I will say this; this place is by far the Best ran one out of all the stores in Wichita and surrounding areas. The Sesame chicken is great, and I like how easy their staff is to speak with over the phone. For this that believe they are rude when they are short with you over the phone, it's their culture to be blunt and to the point. I will definitely continue to eat here! read more

Warning! The staff is rude as hell here. The place is dirty and the service is terrible. During my many out of state business travels, I am fortunate to have a plethora of dining options. Unfortunately for many, this is not the case. So with that being said, if you think that this is a "great place", you really should try to get out more. If you like crappy food and an inconsiderate wait staff---this place is for you. The kung pao chicken is horrid; what little chicken they put in it is fatty tissue and cartlidge. The same can be said for the Mongolian chicken. Go to your local grocer and get the La Choy canned chinese; there is no difference. When our food was ready, the female cashier said "Hey", pointed to our bag, and then walked off. How gruff can one get? There were no other customers in the store, so they were not busy. They had four males cooking (three of them looked as though they had just got out of bed). FYI to the tea drinkers---I too am a tea drinker. It is hard to get good tea at most Chinese establishments. A majority of the time it will be warm and watered-down, so I would advise passing on ice tea at any Chinese establishment. Overall--greasy, cheap-tasting food and the female cashier that we dealt with is callow to say the least. Avoid this place. read more

WORST service I have ever reieved from a local joint. How can you expect me to purchase a meal when you can't even tell me where your food comes from?
