There was a sizable dining room and I was immediately greeted and seated on this summer weekday for dinner. Service was attentive and friendly and refills were prompt. I ordered the Won Ton soup and it was tasty. For my entree I selected the Beef with Szechuan Sauce. The spiciness wasn't high, but sauce had a strong sour flavor that wasn't enjoyable. The amount of water chestnut was heavy and not balanced for the dish. The slices of black mushroom were nice.

I wouldn't say they're *really* authentic, but they're as good or better than anything else I've had at a mom & pop place in the US. Prices are very reasonable and the portions huge. The service was friendly and reasonably quick. Now for the downside: It's a cash-only place, which is super inconvenient these days. On top of that, the ambiance, if you want to call it that, comes across as cheap and dodgy, with hand-lettered signs taped haphazardly to the walls. It's clear they're take-out oriented. That said, I'd definitely eat there again.

I used to come here a few years ago and it seemed to be better then. I usually dig the vegetables out of the entrees and the green beans were still good. I would probably go somewhere else next time.

Golden bowl Chinese has a great rating on Yelp and their health scores above 90 which is the best one in town. As soon as we walked in, she sat us in a booth and took our drink order and directed us to the buffet tables. They had three tables with various things such as crawfish, frog legs, lo mein noodles and fried rice, three soup offerings, California rolls and desserts. It was really clean and the service was great. We had so much hope for this place but the food was lukewarm. Most of it was really salty. The hot and sour soup tasted a little off and the wonton crispy chips tasted like chemicals. The chocolate ice cream was extremely bland and the vanilla cake with coconut shavings was dry. The crayfish were really hard to find any meat because they were rubbery. The coconut shrimp had the right consistency but the seasoning was only coconut cream (or so it appeared) over fried shrimp. The tiramisu was the best part. Even the fortune cookies were bendy and stale. If there's a choice between here and the nearby Panda Express, go to Panda Express. This was terribly disappointing.
