Ok, it's not a restaurant. :-) Great workspace and one of the best collections of library resources…read morein the New York area that I've seen. I always seek out one of their best and most helpful, Ms. Courtney. All others seem busy and just 'business as usual', but Courtney goes out of her way. In fact, I've noticed that the lines are typically longer at the helpdesk in front of her. Others have mentioned on the line, "I'm waiting for her." The others are also great, just that she leaves you with a smile. Still, great Library all around. No doubt she helps inspire the other librarians. She's been there forever, it seems. Like all places, there are a few old-school 'sticks in the mud'. My family and I just avoid them and wait for those with 'that' customer service attitude. The campus is great with a very pretty lake and lots of long neck swan-like ducks (not sure what they are called), not swans. (Ask a librarian?) Don't approach those ducks, they get nasty. Don't trust their vending machines. Very sketchy cellular connectivity, especially the lower floors. Ample parking. Bring a sweater, climate control is not consistent.

The Port Washington Library was kind enough to reach out to my writing group to host events…read morethroughout the month of November. We've had 2 of the events and the library staff has been super nice, accommodating and resourceful. With some stellar views of the sound on the upper floors, it's a great spot to get work done. And getting my work done has been so badly a priority. I may not be a member of the library (I don't live in Port Washington) but they were still wonderful in getting me hooked up with a Lynda.com account so yay even more learning to be had! They were also nice enough to supply some light refreshments for my group which is even more great considering we're sitting and writing for long stretches of time, and even though we're in the Hagedorn room, I was unclear if that meant we could bring in food or not. As Arthur says, having fun isn't hard unless you've got a library card. The parking lot is pretty great and it's nearby some great restaurants and local shops which make a day in the area a breeze.

First Impression - WOW, this is a library? It looked like it could be a museum or arts/culture…read morecenter from the parking lot (yes, a real parking lot)! And between the artsy appearance and sculpture like garden grounds, it may as well be a local park. It is huge and has multi-levels. Fancy inside and out. Very clean and well managed. This is not your typical library - at least not based on the NYC/Queens branches. What a difference when you cross that county line. I ventured here at the suggestion of a friend who told me about the reading time for the younger set and for the kids' community room. So this review is based solely on the Children's area and section (lower level). Just walking in, huge space, brightly lit, welcoming, customer service desk right there. Media room on the right. (You can ask for tickets to local community parks and museums, events and the like - see postings on the bulletin wall). Upon descending to the lower level, there are some nice mixed use rooms, mini classrooms and lab room settings, art installations on the walls (see pics), and even a snack/vending machine area. No library I have been to ever allowed food, let alone offering an area to purchase and enjoy it! The children's library has spacious seating areas and there's an exit to the garden grounds from there. There's also an ipad station, limited to 20 mins. per user to keep it rotating and fair. It is a public space. And there's a community play room for the really young set (ages 6 and under). Soft play space and toys. Very cool. The shelves are stocked with books for pre-K to High School level reading. Art work from the local school is featured on top. Makes for a very nice visual. One side note: the library location I went to was called the Great Neck Main Branch. So in case, the address is 159 Bayview Avenue, NOT the one listed above in this Yelp listing...not sure why the address didn't come up but it is Great Neck Road...perhaps the GPS has modified? FYI. PLEASE note the address if you want to see the library I saw, in case I checked in at the wrong one. (Apologies in advance). Google maps shows 4 locations ... Bayview is one of them. I am discovering based on other Yelp reviews that we may not be talking about the same locale or it was likely renovated since (those posts were from 2015) and everything here looks BRAND NEW. I would totally come here again to explore more.

Coming here on my lunch break, I could hardly find a parking spot in the adjacent street. Luckily, there are a lot of empty spots a block away into the neighborhood. What is great about this library is that every section is clearly labeled. I made the mistake of going to the visible DVD section to my left, only to find out that I was in the children's section. There are about six computer terminals and only two studying tables I think. As expected from seeing the Korean shopping center across the street, this library has a great Korean language collection of books, magazines, CDs, and DVD/VHS. I only wished that the librarians aren't so ignorant to put Korean and Chinese media DVD/VHS/CDs together in the same section, where they are mixed together. I have no idea how people try to find a specific media item since there doesn't seem to be a clear filing system. They have movie titles on cardboard that I can take out to rent them from the shelf behind the circulation desk. Unfortunately, I won't bother going through this section because it's too tedious to sort out Korean/Chinese/Mandarin/Cantonese languages. Ironically, with a library so ethnically strong with a foreign language collection, I do not see a language learning section in this library. If I get to come back here again, I'll find the time to ask the librarian since I didn't have much time to really walk around due to time constraints with the parking, etc. There is a formal checkout line for the sole circulation desk with one, young teen librarian on duty to check out materials. I'm sure that this library is great for all the Korean knowledge suckers out there. PROS: great Korean collection, library sections are clearly labeled CONS: mixes Chinese and Korean media together, missing language section, a bit difficult to find immediate parking

September 1, 2026 @ Bryant Library in Roslyn NY- 6pm on the 2nd Floor, Milagro Santana Tribute…read moreBand" performed. Not seeing an address or place to write them up on Yelp, I add this review of their show. The band tonight consisted of Julio, a Singer/Guitar player, a bassist, keyboardist, 2 drummers & a Conga player playing tall 3 ft x 1ft floor standing drums. Together as musicians they brought the sounds and feels of "Santana" to the audience as well as each taking time to just jam. Upon thier introduction, Julio said to the audience, "Remeber, you guys make the Joy". They certainly did, as many were moving, clapping, tapping, dancing and enjoying the beat. Why inside on a Tuesday at 6? Blame the weather as they had been repeatedly rained out. A chat with Julio, told me a bit about the band and how he got involved. The Band started in 2005. He was a singer. Guitarist came and went. Finally, they said to him "why don't You just play" as well. So, he did. Being Porta Rican and fluent in Spanish he's able to cover all the Spanish songs as well. He started playing guitar at age 11 here in the states as he was introduced to the sounds of Rock & Roll, Beatles and all the upcoming types of music and changes there after. I understand the band also performs as Openers as well as having their own following. So, if you like Santana, check them out at www.milagrolive.com
