She definitely was rough when I went in for a filling, very abrupt in her tone but since it was my first time there, I let it go. Another visit, there was some odd disagreement between her and the hygienist with tense words shared and me in the middle. Very awkward to say the least. When I finally decided to schedule being fitted for a retainer she quoted me a staggering $800. I did not receive a quote on paper or email and did not sign anything. When I called to confirm with my insurance provider, they said she was not qualified to perform the service?! They recommended I seek a orthodontist. The final straw was when I called the office number to cancel, left a voicemail since it was after hours and 8pm at night get a call from Dr. Mayada clearly upset that I cancelled saying the retainer is already ordered and it's "too late" to cancel (even though I was cancelling way more than 24hr in advance). Unfortunately, echoing the other reviews: she is too deep in the admin side and tries to upsell to her patients. This lack of consideration she has towards her staff and patients is very alarming, unprofessional and ultimately made me seek care elsewhere.

Needless to say, I am apprehensive about having any dental work, and even cleanings feel uncertain. I saw Dr. Najim for a few years through 2 pregnancies and have never had any issues. I first starting going to Dr. Kennedy after I had a tooth crack, as I didn't have a regular dentist to go to. He was able to see me the next morning, and didn't even charge me for an "emergency visit" even though it definitely qualified. He was more concerned with my teeth then how much money he'd be making off of me. Dr. Kennedy and his team understood how nervous I was, and were very gentle throughout the whole process. Their skill and professionalism came through at every turn. I immediately scheduled more appointments with him to work on the rest of my mouth. Now, here we are 2-3 years later, and my mouth is completely cavity-free. My teeth have never looked better, and I'm now pursuing braces through them. I recommend Dr. Kennedy to everyone I know, and will continue to do so. He is great at what he does, and his team feel more like friends than staff at this point. Special shout-out to Ruth for always being awesome!

My regular dentist retired and for quite a while, I searched for a new dentist who I could trust to…read moredo some work on my teeth such as a crown, implant etc. Since I did not have insurance, I called before making an appointment to inquire as to the cost of x-rays and explain what I expected from the visit; x-rays and a consultation for all that is needed. No cleaning. I was quoted a price. On the day of the appointment I did not get a chance to see the dentist before the x-ray technician. She came into the room introduced herself and proceeded to set me up for the x-rays. I am a senior citizen and have had many x-rays. None have ever hurt before. Uncomfortable on occasion but, never real pain. I am not sensitive to pain and I usually have teeth filled without the Novocain. This was the worst experience in a dentist office of my life. I don't know what she was doing wrong but, it was evident that something wasn't right. She was hurting me so that I had to push her hand away a couple of times. Each time she pushed it aside and tried again. She tried several times and each time it hurt more. No apologies, just a statement saying she had to get it done. After the x-rays, the doctor came in and did an exam. He hurt me with every single tooth he touched. I have never ever had that happen in the past. I still don't understand why he hurt me. Neither my mouth nor my teeth have been or are sensitive but, they were sore for a couple of days after his exam. In the beginning of the appointment, I explained to Dr. Kennedy that I wanted to come back in after he looked over the x-rays and discuss options and recommendations. I did not commit to any work. At the front desk, I was shocked to find out the cost was more than 2X what I was originally quoted for the visit. I inquired about the difference and was told that was it. That's the charge for the visit. At a later date, I returned for the consultation and was ushered into the room and told to sit in the chair and the dental assistant started to put the bib on me and told me to sit back. I refused, telling her I was there for a consultation. She continued to try to push me back in the chair. She made me uncomfortable. Then doctor came in and briefly went over what he saw in the x-rays. He said I should start with a particular tooth "because it is going to blow any minute". I refused and told him I wasn't there to get work done only to review my options and make a decision what to do first. I expected to get a list of the needed work with pricing and any options (this is what I asked for) that may be available to me, if any. He was not happy and definitely expressed his displeasure. He did not have the price of any individual item. He said he would have to put that together for me. This what I asked for at the start. He didn't even seem willing to give me a price for the work he wanted to do on this day. After requesting a copy of my x-rays and his recommendations with pricing, I left. He said he would have to mail it to me. I wanted an itemized list of his recommendations and my options. I did not get it. I had asked for this at the first appointment and he did not have it ready for me on the second visit. He just assumed, wrongly, that I would just go with what he recommended. This experience in Dr. Robert Kennedy's office was the worst ever for me. He shamelessly tried to upsell everything that was needed. This is a doctor, in my opinion, interested in only one thing; making money. Listening to his patients is not in his own best interests. He ignored my initial request for information. I would give him less than one star if I could. I felt I could not trust this dentist to listen to me.

She decided the day of treatment, while I was under sedation, that the tooth did not need a RC and did a composite filling instead. She treated several other teeth for cavities (I only consented to ONE). It has since been determined by two dentist and an endodontist that the referring dentist had been correct about the need for a RC. Furthermore, the work she did on the tooth next to the problem one caused that to need a RC--this tooth had not been hurting me prior. I gave her several opportunities to fix the issue and while she did make a good faith effort, she failed to be able to correctly diagnosis the problem (or listen to other dentist that told her that the two teeth need RC's despite me having provided her with the full reports and signing a release for her to speak with them) Continue reading for the full timeline of events. Note that names of other dental offices have been redacted. January 18, 2023: I received the treatment plan from Dental Care of Burlington [DCB]. The total cost was $5,280. The treatment plan was for a root canal, crown, and ONE composite filling of tooth #30. January 19, 2023: I was asked to sign the treatment plans and necessary consents. Since we had not thoroughly reviewed a root canal's risks and benefits, I asked to speak with Dr. Shabani before signing the consent. Her assistant attempted to answer my questions, but I insisted on speaking to the dentist. Dentist responded to my questions about the root canal while I was being hooked up to monitors and getting an IV in my hand. I signed the consent for the root canal and the treatment plan for the root canal, crown and ONE composite filling only. I remember very little after the being administered the IV drugs. January 20, 2023: I returned to the office to have my bite adjusted it was at this time I leaned exactly what work had been performed. January 27, 2023: I woke up with an extreme toothache and called [DCB]. They could not get me in until the end of the following week. I found an emergency dentist who was able to get me in that afternoon. He took X-rays and informed me that #31 needed a RC (I did not tell him that was the orginal treatment plan)He also mentioned that filings that had completed were "very sloppy" and needed to be redone. He cited "overhang" and a good amount of decay left behind as his reasons for drawing this conclusion. End of February: I returned to my general dentist. He reconfirmed his belief that #31 needed a RC and also noted that my bite was off. March 2, 2023: I returned to [DCB] for a bite adjustment and pain, primarily in tooth #30 and #31. Dr. Shabni acknowledged in person and in her notes, that #30 needed to be re-done. She claimed that #31 was fine but thought I was irritating it with my tongue. March 16, 2023: I returned to [DCB] with increasing pain levels was was once again told it was because I was playing with the area. Dr. Shabni suggested I get them polished down under sedation. April 6, 2023: Dr. Shabani placed a sedative filling on tooth #31 to help "calm it down." This provided SOME relief, but it continued to hurt. I went to see a third dentist for another opinion. He, like the two dentists before him, stated that #31 needed a root canal and that #30 also needed one because the filling was pressing up against the nerve. April 11, 2023, I spoke with Dr. Shabani about what [3rd dentist] said, and urged her to listen to the three other doctors and do a RC. She said you would get back to me on scheduling, because we had to coordinate with [Anesthesiologist] . She also suggested putting a medicated filling on tooth #30 to help calm it down, which I initially agreed to. On April 12, 2023, I informed Dr. Shabni I no longer wanted to do the sedative filling and wanted just to treat the tooth when we could get time on [Anesthesiologist] schedule. She claimed we needed to do the sedative filling to isolate which tooth was causing me the problem (I was later informed that messing with a tooth that needs a RC is a bad idea). After some dispute about how much of the RC bill I would be responsible for, she expressed her annoyance that I "keep going to other dentist" and "don't trust her". I expressed that my weariness is because she did a lot of work without consent and I've been in pain since January. She told me to go to another dentist and she'd refund me the entire amount of my procedure "because it's just not worth it at this point". As of now, I have not received the refund or communication about when I can expect to receive it. I also have not received my entire chart despite having asked for it repeatedly (even before April 12). DCB is also not giving me the necessary paperwork needed to work with the [Anesthesiologist] to find another dentist. For all of these reasons, I cannot recommend Dental Care of Burlington.
