I have been coming to Gilbert's for a little over 10 years now. It seems they always the things the box box stores don't have. This is a hardware store the way hardware stores used to be. I come in here mostly for stem and diverter rebuilds for the old bath/shower systems in rental properties: they will rebuild the hot, cold and diverter stems while you wait. I have always been very pleased with their services and they also build screens for windows and replace screens if you bring them in. Overall, Gilbert's is a great hardware store with good pricing and very helpful employees.

Sooo went to Home Depots and Lowes in the area and was shocked at the prices. So I stopped into DeRonnes for their Carhartt days sale to get some shirts, well long story short they had water heaters on sale and the top rated heater by trade magazines on sale. I purchased a French door style 36" wide refrigerator at the Black Friday sale price . When it was delivered, I noticed that the refrigerator stuck out too far. I immediately contacted Alicia. She informed me that there were 2 depths, standard and counter. She apologized for not informing me that there were 2 options when I made my purchase. I decided to return the standard depth and replace it with a counter depth refrigerator. I was informed by Alicia that her manager Matt would not agree to sell me the counter depth size at the Black Friday sale price. She told me that he would only give me $50 off for the regular price. I told Alicia that I would take my business to Lowe's. And I did. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE HOME DEPOT! I was greeted Hello by an employee upon walking in the automatic doors. Inside it is easy to read the layout of the store with signs up above for the departments names. The painting department is straight ahead down the main isle halfway down to the left. The paint isles I believe I counted 6 were organized, well stocked, labeled with sale ads and pricing. My choice for paint was Behr semi gloss ultra white which was on sale PLUS yes PLUS a $10.00 rebate on many brands of paint. Oh Yeah I was happy to check on line before shopping to make sure on the total count of inventory available here. I was greeted by employee Jim who asked promptly if I needed help with my shopping time. Nicely I said no I'm good to go and thanks for asking. :) In the center area is the customer service painting counter for blending and mixing tints. I grabbed 2 stir sticks while noticing 3 employees working by assisting customers with immediate attention and efficient customer service. I walked to the Self Checkout area and used the "Scan & Go" register. These registers have a scanner gun to complete your purchase sale. I scanned my can of paint with a scanner gun. How cool and easy with no complications and the computerized voice on the screen was easy to hear. There was an employee watching customers in case any help or assistance was needed. She thanked me for shopping at Home Depot. My 15 minute shopping experience was successful ! I will certainly complete the short survey from my receipt for a chance to win a $5,000 Home Depot Gift Card. If I win ? I will be back here. Do better Lowes, I know you have it in you. I've been coming to this store since 2013 when working in Michigan, and it's pretty much declined with every passing year.
