Avoid! I booked a move from Houston to Denver through Budget Van Lines and my move was contracted to Great Heights Relocation. First, the move was contracted at $1600 which I had been making payments on. The day of the move I get a call that now I have to come up with an ADDITIONAL $1500 because of two or three items that "weren't on the list", looking back the items mentioned were on the list. They charged the elevator charge 3 times and actually requested an additional $400 when they got here for the walk to the apartment! I understand that prices can change but this is ridiculous. It seems the quote you are given doesn't mean anything. Even with the calculation of the change in sq footage it wasn't an additional $1900. I've tried contacting to see what happened but they don't respond. Avoid, avoid, avoid. If I knew my move was going to be contracted out to them I would have never booked them. read more

Avoid this company at all costs. Our move was a nightmare due to their poor communication and unprofessional service. Communication with Jessenya Carrera, who handled our relocation, was always difficult. She would take days, sometimes weeks to respond to our queries. When the movers came to our home to pack up and move our goods, they neglected to put down paper on the wood floor, which is highly unusual. They scratched up the floor and walls in their transporting of our goods. They removed a TV wall mount even though we had explicitly told them not to. This left large holes in the wall that we had to fill, and we spent a lot of time doing touch up paint work at the last minute before the move. On the other end of the move, further complications arose. During an early spoken conversation with Jessenya, she assured us that the delivery of our household goods would take somewhere between 3 and 14 days, but that we shouldn't worry as it rarely takes as long as 14 days. Once we arrived to our new home in Milwaukee, we contacted Jessenya about when our goods would arrive. It took her five days to respond, and when she finally emailed us back, she told us curtly that the contract states 14 BUSINESS DAYS, and that she was still waiting for a driver and truck to arrive to their warehouse to pick up our things. Turns out she was right. The contract did state 14 business days, and we had overlooked that. Still, she omitted this detail in our conversations. In the end, the movers delivered *some* of our goods within the time stipulated in the contract, at 13 business days (almost 3 full weeks after our arrival). However, there were two serious problems: 1) they had to shuttle in our goods with a u-haul truck (which cost us an additional 1K dollars at the last minute!), and the boxes were packed in an unbelievably unprofessional manner, with large boxes smashing smaller boxes marked "fragile." Many items (including family heirlooms) arrived broken. 2) only about 80% of our things actually arrived. When we realized that we were missing furniture, clothes, and other things, we contacted Jessenya, and she was finally able to locate our goods in their warehouse. It turns out that they had neglected to load a large crate of our things. Jessenya promised that the goods would come shortly. In the meantime, we had to buy new suits for our jobs, since our work clothes were still in transit. We waited another 11 days, until Aug 18, at which point a mover brought the rest of our household. The delivery of our full household was well outside of the contract (at 21 business days from our arrival, a full 7 business days late, and a full month after our arrival to our new home). We slept on the floor for almost three weeks and were without furniture that entire time. We tried to settle upon compensation with Great Heights for breaking our items (on the weight ratio we agreed to) and for the new suits which we had to purchase due to their negligence, but they only offered to compensate us for a portion of what we are due. This company is dodgy, understaffed, and unprofessional. They take the nerve-wracking experience of moving to new levels of stress and frustration. read more

This is the worst company I ever have dealt with. I hired them to move a small self enclosed pipe organ from Louisiana to Texas. We discussed the size and everything included in the move. When the driver arrived, he decided it was to much for him to move, I assured him, that we would help him and it wouldn't be that hard. Multiple calls leaving messages and response coming only days after. Delivery drivers were very nice but didn't speak any english so communication was tough. While i avoided one horrible moving company, i acquired a mediocre one compared to my previous experiences. great heights did seem to be a bit more customer conscious up front. There was some misunderstandings during my pick up and they would not allow me to use coupons which i found disappointing. The movers did try to pack my items as efficient as possible without increasing risk of damage to help keep my cost and square footage down. My destination delivery on the other hand was an awful experience. The driver was extremely overweight and barely spoke English. When they arrived he asked to use the bathroom which i had no problem with but i didn't know he was gonna take a dump on my porcelain throne before i could have the chance. That was just trifling! Then after he blew up my bathroom he threatened to not remove my items from the truck if i didn't sign the paperwork up front. I told them that i wasn't signing until i was assured all my items had been removed and delivered but he had me in a difficult situation since all of my things were still on the truck. At this point i am sketchy about these guys but i need my items. They continue unloading but they are not unpacking anything or putting my items together that were taken apart by the packers. I had to call my consultant to get them to put my bed together as i had paid for full pack and unload. All in all my pack experience was ok but my unload was terrible. I did receive a small compensation for the headache but compared to the cost of the service it was negligible. read more

This place was so, so great. We were moving from Houston to Boston and we had the best team assisting us. Manny & Juan picked up all our furniture and did all the disassembly - they were extremely thorough and labeled/wrote down every piece of inventory. They were quick and efficient. Despite Christmas, New Years, and TWO storms, our furniture still arrived in Boston 15 days later. Nothing changed in the pricing or the initial quote. Yordanis & Yaikel dropped off all our furniture and were so efficient. They assembled everything and cleaned up in a little over 2 hours. Jessenya & Isabel at the front desk were also extremely helpful and communicative through the whole process. Beware Beware Do not use !!! Raised price by 50% day of move once they are at your house loading your stuff. Delivery time frame was poorly explained took way longer than what the sales person described to me. My belongings were handled without care just thrown around. Broken TV and many scratches and missing boxes only to be told a minimum valuation at .60 per pound could be payed because I chose that type of insurance. What I did was choose the wrong company as it is clear they are scaming people and one can only hope they will get caught. Horrible experience with Great Heights Relocation. Driver told us every day for 5 days that our delivery would be tomorrow. Once it arrived 16 days after it was picked up (Houston TX to Topeka KS) the boxes and furniture had been crammed into the truck. Boxes both cardboard and hard plastic totes were smashed and cracked open. Calling each day during this time resulted in promises to contact driver/dispatch with a return phone call which did not happen for several days. The customer service rep was non-empathic and spoke to me as if all people moving experience this stress to down play the fact the driver that was supposed to have our items on his truck which in fact he did not have the items on his truck they remained in Houston 12 days from the Houston pick up. Once it arrives the 50 inch TV had not been packed in a TV box as promised resulting in it being cracked in 5 places. The king size tempurpedic mattress was smashed and dirty even though they claimed it would be wrapped and protected. The master dress is not chipped and missing a corner, master headboard & footboard scratched. Kitchen boxes crushed with a few broken items and heavy metal baking pans bent. How does this happen?! Insurance with Great Heights is a mere $0.60 cents per pound per item. If you dare use these folks buy the additional insurance for your own protection. I would not recommend this company. read more

This moving company is amazing. I was moving from Houston, TX to Los Angeles, CA and scheduled the move very last minute. They were flexible and Linda our main customer service agent was just amazing. She went above and beyond, included doing a 60 minute over the phone inventory. My company was paying for the move so she assisted with all the billing processing so I didn't have to do anything but give her name and phone number to my company. Very bad bad experience so far. Miss guiding company with lot of hidden contract terms. Never picks up their calls nor responds via email. Very bad customer service. I moved from San Antonio, TX to Charlotte, NC. And Great Heights picked my boxes on 13th December. I called them on 22nd December for Delivery and they asked me my first available date, I told them to deliver by 30th December. They have not yet delivered my boxes. And as per their contract from the first available date they will take up to 14 days, its not 14 days - 14 Business days. When I called on 22nd to deliver my boxes I wasn't meant starting from 30th Dec. I asked them to deliver by 30th. They miss guided me with their contract terms. Now they are saying my 14 business days wills start from 30th Dec. As of today the 8th Jan they are saying it is just 4 business days so far. Its been 20 days since I initially contacted them and they are saying just 4 business days so far. It was like a bait and switch, with an appearance of ease and understanding in the beginning, yet once the moving process started the rated quoted was drastically different than what I ended up paying. Then they damaged and lost some of my things which I had to inquire upon several times. The movers were good. The packers clearly had no idea what they were doing. Boxes were left without a label. Upon arrival, we had no idea where they came from. In the departing house - the downstairs included kitchen, bar, informal dining, den, formal dining and formal living room. The boxes were identified as "kith" and "living." 3 boxes had more description - including TV wires, lamp shade, decor. Clearly someone knew what they were doing. But most did not. 2nd floor of departing house included 3 bedrooms, 4 closets, a game room and a laundry room. The boxes were identified as "2nd floor closet" and "bedroom." And in 3 boxes, things were purposefully bent to allow box to be closed. Such as lamp frames and iron art work. In addition, representations were made about timing - which were quickly retracted once contract awarded. Had to pay extra to have art work crated (that is fine) but movers on receiving end refused to uncrate. Sleep number bed required special care in moving. That was made clear upfront - only to lead to phone argument on day of move. Still waiting on a sleep number tech to come and reconnect bed. Very unprofessional from standpoint of the job and also the way it was handled by customer service. This was a $20,000 move. No one needs this kind of drama during a move. I was reading unrelated companies on Yelp and remembered my horrific experience with this company, and thought it would be best to share with others. We scheduled a move with this company August of last year. We scheduled with them weeks in advance, and the night before the move, at about 5:30 PM I received a call saying that they could no longer move us because they couldn't guarantee a truck to arrive in time to our destination, Great Falls, MT. This was obviously a nightmare, as we were scheduled to leave and left us in a terrible situation. I understand difficulties they may have on their end, but they should have the decency of letting us know sooner, rather than cancel the night before. Their own cancellation policy requires 72 hours notice for refund of the deposit, and they did not afford me anywhere near what they expect from their own customers. read more

The worst moving experience ever from start to finish. Moving process including pricing (by square footage not weight?) not well explained. Furniture broken, stored improperly, boxes missing which have never been found, poor communication and it took 36 days for my belongings to get to my final destination. If you decide to hire this company, please take out additional insurance because I am out over $4000 worth of items and .60/lb. is the "standard coverage" that companies are required to carry on all your belongings. In reading the other negative comments, I feel as though I am reliving my own experience. PLEASE do not put yourself through the heartache and financial burden of working with this company. We were initially quoted at $2900 and paid our deposit. After a finalized inventory, this went up to $5100. The day they came to move us, the showed up with a 1700 cubic sq ft truck when we were told 2200 cubic sq ft. The mover took a glance at our stuff and stated it would be way over that and we would need another truck in addition to the one they brought. The final quote we received was $7700! Of course we couldn't afford this. To make matters worse, this was a cross country move with new jobs that start soon in the middle of a pandemic with state closures etc. We were in such a bind to find a back up plan. After loading all of our stuff into a 1700 sq ft truck with much room to spare, we knew they were lying to us. Our deposit was stolen and so much precious time and energy was was wasted. They broke my glass ware in all three of the boxes (at least one in each). But still then I was not complaining. They lost screws of my dresser. In preparation to relocate from Houston back to the east coast, I began contacting professional moving companies that offer full service national moving. I need a full pack, load, storage in Houston and eventual transportation to the east coast. One of the moving companies I contacted did not have any openings so they referred me to Great Heights Relocation. I immediately went to the company website and started out by filling out their online inventory form so that I could schedule an In-Home estimate. When I did not receive a reply over the weekend, I called the phone number and reached Helen on Monday. Helen told me she knew nothing about the online inventory forms, and as it turned out, she did not know much about this business at all. When I asked her questions regarding packing, long-term storage and eventual transportation and delivery of my goods, she became flustered and put me on hold several times. Each time returning with an answer that made absolutely no sense in context to the questions I had asked. Is it that difficult to answer if the company has climate controlled storage, and if it does not, what processes are in place to protect mattresses, clothing, and wood furniture from the heat and humidity??? One would not think this should be a challenge for the person taking all phone calls from potential customers inquiring about services! During my time talking with Helen, an employee named Luis, grabbed the phone from her and very impatiently told me he would be at my house the next day, at 10:00 a.m., to give me a free in-home estimate of my moving costs. I was surprised by his bravado but thought "what the heck' and told him I would see him the next day, and he assured me that he would contact me when he was within 10 minutes of arrival. Next up, when I hung up the phone with Helen and Luis, I had a message from yet another GHR employee, Eric. He told me that he had received my info over the weekend and was calling me back. He apparently did not know that I was already on the phone with Helen. So I called Eric and tried to explain to him that I had just talked to Helen at which he replied, "Oh yes, we are talking about your storage questions right now." Great, I said. Can you tell me what you do to ensure that stored items are not bothered by the heat and humidity? It told me that everything was shrink wrapped and blanketed and that would keep the humidity and heat out. Hmmm, Ok. At least Eric had some idea of the process that was in place. I told him to let Helen know we had spoken and he assured me that he would. Of course, at about 5:00 p.m. that day, Helen called me only to repeat that they did not have climate controlled storage...no info on the process in place and apparently no knowledge of my conversation with Eric. The following morning (today as I write this), 10:00 a.m. came and went and no Luis, no call, no text, no nada! I called Great Heights Relocation back and Eric answered the phone. I told him that Luis had been a no-show to which he replied, uh, yeah, he is having engine problems and will call you when he can reschedule. Because the person speaking to him in the background sounded really a LOT like Luis, I suspect that his car was just fine! I asked Eric who owned or managed this business and said I would like to speak to that person. He told me that the only person in management was "Oded" and that he would not take calls from potential customers. Well, Oded, if you exist and this is true, you have lost a customer willing to spend a substantial amount of money to have her things packed, protected in long term storage and eventually moved. What a disappointment Great Heights Relocation was for me. I am astonished by the number of good reviews and have questioned if this business has been recently sold. This company is absolutely horrible. Please read all reviews when it comes to this company. They do take not responsibility for anything and have very poor communication. My items were delivered on 7/26/19. After finally unpacking everything we noticed that we are missing a container of shoes. I called the company to file an insurance claim for the missing container of shoes. I ended up speaking w/Jessenya who I had been working with from the very beginning. I was told that I was suppose to check all inventory before signing off. Jessenya told me that she will email me the insurance claim but I probably won't receive any compensation because I don't have all of the item#. But she did admit that a lot of time those little stickers do fall off and keep in my when the company is delivering boxes everywhere in your house it's virtually impossible to keep up with item# and stickers..on top of the movers being in a hurry to make the next delivery. I did not select this company on my own I went through a company called Safe Bound Logistics (Which I will also review). Also, I had a desk that was damaged in the delivery but I didn't file a compliant. One of the movers told us it looked like an Ikea desk (and it was) and those desk are not meant to be moving around a lot. Please listen to me when I tell you not to use this company. Terrible. I used them for a long distance move. They picked up my things in one truck and did not tell me the would transfer my furnishings to a different truck. They over packed the truck which resulted in my things getting smashed and broken. They were VERY hard on my furnishings and boxed items. They broke many items and damaged others. While I am unsure if I would recommend this company for out of state moves, the customer service took good care of me. I had some issues with the mover they brokered my out of state move to. The broker was very rude and wrongfully charged me extra. After I informed GHR, they covered the extra costs and did right by me. I appreciate that they intervened, because some companies may not have been so helpful. Essentially, if you are in Houston, this is probably a solid company. I had scheduled a move with Great Heights Relocation for June but due to storm damage to the house I was in had to move 3 weeks earlier. Contacted Great Heights the same day of the damage and was able to have the movers there two days later to help load the moving truck. The 3 men who came were very professional and nice to work with. Had the truck loaded in less than two hours and was on my way shortly thereafter. Thanks to Linda and her crew to get the job done with minimal stress considering everything going on at that time.
