I ordered GHB for an event at another Rockbrook Village spot and it was almost perfect! I had placed the ordered on the phone earlier in the day and when I picked up the order and got to the event location I noticed the sandwiches were wrong. The staff wasn't super friendly when I picked up the order so I was nervous to call and let them know. However, I am glad I did, they were able to make up some sandwiches of the right order for me. It wasn't a whole order, but enough. Overall, I am giving 4 stars because I want to support the Rockbrook businesses. I think communication and customer service could improve. read more

Great Harvest Bread has added a lot of new items since I was last here. There are so many goodies, it's hard to decide. The cafe offerings all sound delicious and there are many more bread options and savory as well as sweet treats. Today I decided to have breakfast for lunch, ordering a sausage, cheese, and egg sandwich on a biscuit. The biscuit was perfection with a choice of cheese... cheddar please. The egg and sausage made it a pretty hefty sandwich. I also brought home dog biscuits for my pets and thick shortbread cookies. Like I said, so many goodies! I've been coming to this original location since the one out west closed (a total bummer btw). It smells incredible inside and looks like your well-loved neighborhood bread shop. We always love stopping by here when we arrive early for our toddler's music or art class. The staff are always so kind and offer our toddler a free slice of bread with generous butter when we buy a loaf. My toddler loves to sit down and will finish the whole slice (the cinnamon bread is his favorite). They have great cookies and whole grain bread too! read more

The honey wheat bread has really changed within the last few months. It's still better than grocery store bread, but the recipe appears to have changed or isn't made the old way because it's quite dry now, sometimes dry the day of purchase. It tastes like it's been frozen, it isn't fresh tasting anymore. The new owner has discontinued the free loaf of bread to loyal customers program, when they return 12 bread labels. You must sign up for their loyalty program now, and give them your personal information. In fact, the owner no longer provides labels with the loafs at all. read more

I came in with my 3 year old son. We got mini cinnamon rolls and a slice of cinnamon chip bread with butter and a drip coffee (options were decaf, French roast, donut shop, and hazelnut). We paid less than 10 dollars. Everything was amazing! The service was great. It was our first time and they gave good recommendations and were very accommodating. While I was ordering, I heard another employee coordinating with a customer to pick up a certain product from the other location. There were fun decorations and the vibe was very fun and comfortable. And my favorite things... TABLES!!! It was very comfortable to grab our pastries and walk over to the tables to sit down to eat which is so rare in bakeries. After we ate, we sat and hung out for a little bit and it was still perfectly comfortable. They also have items for sale like fruit spreads, soup mixes, raw honey, cookie kits, and packaged sliced bread. I highly recommend! read more

Carbs are a girls best friend well at least they are comforting at times and filling. I have always remembered trips to Great Harvest for their free slices as a kid growing up. They are truly an Omaha family staple! So it is sad that they are looking to sell and retire but understandable as they've been baking for so long. The staff at this location and the Dundee one have always been extremely friendly and pleasant. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience at either location. This location has a couple tables outside and some years ago expanded the interior to include more seating as well. Very chill place to just grab a bite, some locally fresh baked bread, or coffee. Not too loud usually so you could easily have a conversation or catch up on emails. My favorite is the popeye! So good and good for you. The asiago pesto was very asiago forward in taste to me. Delicious nonetheless. I'm looking forward to slicing up the Santa Fe cornbread. The kolache is perfection fluffy, creamy, not too sweet but sweet enough to appease the sweet tooth. Highly recommended. And if you're reading this and you or someone you know has interest in running a bread store they have been looking to retire for few years but have thankfully held out for now. **The Santa Fe cornbread is not to be slept on. Will pair perfectly with some chili or a roast. Or just as I enjoyed with some butter & extra honey. Yum! After a recent visit to Great Harvest in Rockbrook, I felt the need to update my review even though it remains 5 stars. Every March before St. Patrick's Day they offer Irish Soda Bread and Reuben Stuffed Rye - both fantastic!! The latter can be served with their homemade 1000 Island Dressing and is a meal in of itself. It's a treat I look forward to every year. Actually, they have many seasonal bready offerings. Right now for the spring and Easter season, they have pastel rolls, hot cross buns, wheat potato rolls and bread bunnies in white, wheat or cinnamon chip. A seasonal "Bread of the Month" is baked and available on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Cranberry Orange is the flavor for April. The staff at this location are exceptionally nice, patient and helpful. They always make sure you walk away with your choice of free sample as well. This shop is a delight to visit. read more

The bread and rolls here are to die for; if I wasn't so lazy I'd get a free slice here every day, and then buy bread for home while I was there. When I was younger we used to stop here everyday for a (free!) slice of bread to power us on our long walk home; and it has certainly not gone down hill since then. I have to say my favorite bread only comes out at Thanksgiving time, the chocolate chip pumpkin bread could probably be dessert all on it's own, you don't even really need butter. read more

I had to come back to Omaha for work which was pretty cool because I had another chance to try the restaurants I missed from my first 2 week stint here. I got the luau chicken sandwich for lunch. Great sandwich! Bread is obviously amazing. Then the combination of the chicken and ham was really good--why don't more places do that combo? I guess it might be a bit pricey by Omaha standards ($7.25 for the whole luau chicken sandwich) but it's worth it if you think of the long-term health benefits over eating at some fast food place down the street. read more

So this place deserves so much love! This location is run by the owner,Mary, and her family. I have met her husband, daughter, and son working there as well. Let's talk the food. I looooove their specialty breads. They post their daily baking schedules online. Things like apple pie bread, Reuben bread, white chocolate cherry swirl bread....I mean c'mon!! They taste amazing and are priced very fair for what you get. They have wide variety of other daily breads and other tasty baked goods. I've eaten off their sandwich menu as well, and its delicious! So I'm a federal employee affected by the shutdown . I saw on the news that they had a "shutdown shelf" where they gave those affected a free loaf of bread. I'm not from Omaha , so I had never heard of Great Harvest actually . I went here & bought some hamburger soup to go. I showed my i.d. & they let me choose a "doughnated" loaf of bread. I chose an interesting one called Mexican chocolate . They gave me a free sample to try of cornbread ...so good ! The worker was very nice ! I got home & tried the hamburger soup & oh my....amazingly delicious! I'm not a huge (or as Trump would say..."Yuge"!!) soup fanatic...but this soup totally changed my mind ! I tend to find soup quite boring . Lol. But this soup had my taste buds in party mode . I didn't know hamburger soup could taste this good !! Then I tried the Mexican bread & ay, ay, ay!! Freakin scrumptious! I'm now a YUGE fan of this place! Any owner who does a kind gesture of offering free stuff to disheartened shutdown employees has to be an outstanding person. Ordered kolaches for an early morning pickup. 1. staff was extremely helpful and in a great mood for 7:15 in the morning 2. I could tell they were baked fresh that morning - they were getting them off the cooking sheet when I arrived 3. prompt service (and friendly) 4. Smells wonderful in the store 5. Offered me free samples of bread while i waited for my order to be packaged up 6. the kolaches were DELICIOUS! My grandma used to make the best kolaches - but I think Great Harvest now has the distinction. I've already tried the poppyseed - YUM and the Strawberry Rhubarb - THE BEST! My favorite is Strawberry Rhubarb - the right amount of sweet and tart - so good! Everything else looked wonderful! I will be back to try some of their breads (and cinnamon rolls, and cookies....)
