Such a great spot with lots of trails for all abilities. We rented XC skis and got a lesson with Sue. She was so positive and helpful! We have also been snow showing here in the past. Amazing views of the mountains!

What an amazing late summer day on 9/17/20 enjoying the half-day guided kayaking trip. Cassie was a fantastic guide - kept the group together and helped out paddlers of varying abilities - and mostly let the beautiful scenery speak for itself. The river was flat and easy. It was my first time kayaking and I'm hooked.

$49 for xc skiing lesson and whole-day rentals. Our instructor was awesome. Trails weren't in the best conditions but that was because of rain, freezing temps, and warm temps the previous days (NE weather). Will definitely be back to hit the trails again. Loved the scenery!

The Children's Center is well - staffed with caring and knowledgeable individuals who work with the kids in a positive way. They really pay attention to the individual needs of each child. We have stuck with the group day and half day programs and they are great. You will know and the staff will let you know if it's time for an individual private lesson. The slopes best suited for the kids are located right next to the center. There is a Children's Center short term parking spot next to the Center as well. This is an awesome and fun spot!

"come on come on hurry up" in a rude tone and the girls weren't able to get onto the lift in time so they were about to fall off. One of my girls lost a ski in that time also. And the operator didn't even stop the lift. Overall gunstock is an amazing place! You probably won't be able to identify her but she was a little chubby, had blonde highlights, looked about in her mid sixties, and this was on January 11 2020. I love gunstock so much but what that person did was very rude.

They still had a really deep base of groomed and compacted snow - at least 2 feet - with fresh snow on top, and we were graced by more flakes as we skied around. Carter's is a cute little family-run ski center where you can rent and buy equipment and gear; they have a few snacks and hot water for cocoa upstairs, indoor bathrooms downstairs, and they offer lessons. There's a "food truck" (which isn't open all the time but looks to have a great menu!), ample parking, trail maps (paper and online), and knowledgeable people to answer all your questions. There's also a loungy area inside for warming up, and a fire pit outside, plus miles and miles of trails for all levels of skiers. After parking, make sure to go inside and get your trail pass! The price of the pass supports the center, trail grooming, equipment maintenance and other expenses. On the day we visited we skied approx 3 miles, mostly the beginner and intermediate trails. The open fields of Carters Pasture were great for our warm up, with views of the snow capped mountains all around. The two bridges were out, and although we couldn't figure out how to find the trail head from the road, we took our chances without skies and crossed the water, sinking into the deep snow up to our knees! We then skied all the way up to the yurt, and the groomed trails were great for classic. We tried our skis at the ungroomed part of Upper Sand Pasture, and even though we have been skiing for two decades, we found the small bumpy section full of water hazards and sticky. We were glad to get to the end of that and back into the good glide on Sunset Blvd, Head of the Swamp and Jesse's Hill. We left just before closing, feeling really happy for the experience, especially since this entire winter of 2024 has not been great. We definitely recommend checking them out - rent equipment and take lessons, or bring your own and buy your pass. You can ski all day, have lunch, rest, and ski again. If we lived closer I would definitely get a season pass. Looking forward to another visit in the future!

We talked about the weather, we enjoyed their large wood burning stove that kept us warm while we suited up. They gave us tips and send us out on the trail that were very well groomed. This review is on the kayak rentals. The staff is great. No, make that fantastic. From reservation to drop off you will experience nothing but pleasurable and experienced people. Call to make a reservation. Get there 1/2 hr before the van leaves to drop you off. It leaves every hour. It was my fist time kayaking (or being in any non motor boat for that matter) and I brought my 6 and 7 year olds and my husband with me. We chose tandem kayaks. $65 each kayak and includes life jackets and the van ride upstream. Parent in the back, little one in the front. My little one did not want an oar and without a partner it is a little difficult to navigate the parts with the stronger currents...my kayak kept going down stream backwards but this was a great learning experience because I very quickly, in 15 minutes, figured out how to use that paddle to steer and keep it straight. So even if you've never paddled a boat before and even if you have a little one with you...you can do this! We didn't want it to end. We stopped at a tiny island for a picnic. The scenery is beautiful and it is quite along the river. We did the 4 mile route but next time we'd do the 10 mile route. I think it took 1 1/2hr even with the short picnic break.

The first few times we had large groups of people with us, all meeting up to go down the river together. They accommodated us the best they could and we did the rest. You can rent tubes, cooler tubes, dog tubes, kayaks, canoes and more. They provide you with a life jacket and ticket time to be ready for your shuttle. They then shuttle you to a drop off location along the mighty Saco River. They transport you, your tube, and all your belongings right to the drop off. You can choose the length of your trip upon purchase. There is a one mile, three mile, and five mile trip down river. You can choose to repeat the trip, as long as there is time before they close for you to do so. They open early, like 8 am and close at 5 pm. The river is beautiful, and varies in depth throughout the trip. There's plenty of beaches to stop and enjoy a packed lunch or a snack. Please stay off of any beach that says "private" as they are not part of the rental companies lands. There's a couple of rope swings to stop at, but remember, you're stopping with no liability on the rental company. They are not liable for much on these trips. You sign paperwork ahead of time, stating such. Their booth has some items you may need for the trip down river, such as waterproof bags, dry bags, phone bags, goggles, paddles, sunblock, sunglasses and more, of course all priced slightly up. I really enjoy renting and tubing with this company, they've got it down after all these years. Definitely a really fun thing to do during a hot summer day.
