Dave also has tools I've never seen before -- it felt like he had a gadget for every challenge that came up. Plus, he's been doing this for years, so he knows how different stains and woods react. He provided a consultation for my indoor floors, but then I had him also look at my garage floor and he said he was able to do the work I was looking for, which is what I will be reviewing here today. I had a few cracks in my garage floor and was looking to Epoxy it to protect it for the winter. Dave explained to me his process and how it differs from the competition which helps keep his cost low. The best part about Dave was that he stuck to the quote he gave me, with no surprises or additional ask for money, and he started when he said he would, got the job done quick, and finished when he said he would - anyone who has worked with contractors before knows this is a rarity! Dave was respectful and treated the place with care, and I would recommend his work to others. We think the garage looks great! Bob's Binding was recommended to us, so I called about help with a stair runner. The woman who…read moreanswered the phone was not pleasant and refused to schedule an appointment to have someone come out and measure. She stated the person who would install it had to come out in person to our house and agree to do the installation. I explained I had talked to the installer on the phone and he instructed me to call Bob's Binding to get things measured. She refused to schedule anything. I called the installer, who told me who to ask for when I called back. I waiteda week and called Bob's Binding again and got the same woman. She refused to let me talk to the person I asked for and went down the same path. This time I lied and said the installer had been out to our house in person and we had a straight staircase (she had previously acted like they don't help if you have a landing or turn in the steps). Finally got an appointment and Nate came out to measure. He was awesome! Very nice and knew what he was doing. Then we waited and waited and never heard anything from Bob's again. I finally sent an email asking about our order and it was all done but apparently they were never going to let me know. With the exception of Nate, it was not a good experience and the woman answering the phone was really rude.

I am a bit if a quality freak, pertaining to the carpet quality itself, and importantly the installation--this was primarily due to a poor installation we had from another vendor a couple years ago... I researched installers, and Tom had great reviews, so we reached out to him for advice and a bid. Tom couldn't have been nicer, and it was very clear he knew what he was talking about. He came out to the house, took measurements and discussed various options, trade offs between different brands and materials, pads, etc., including what would be needed to accommodate the in-floor heat, how seams would look and perform across different carpet materials, etc. This process was thorough, and really hi-lighted Tom's decades of experience Importantly, Tom listened to what was important to us, did his homework and provided some guidance -- I genuinely felt that the carpet selection guidance was unbiased, and based on facts and his experiences with different materials and installations...this gave us a lot of confidence, which we needed! Tom was patient with our selection process, and a great sounding board when choosing various brands and materials. This leaked behind our fridge and into our wood floors for weeks before the water level was high enough to puddle. We had a specific wood type that we were hoping to replicate. Thankfully Unique Wood Floors carried that same wood type. After my initial call, their project manager Jim contacted us to schedule a visit. We had our estimate less than a day after our visit. We stopped by their showroom in St. Paul and spoke with Michael who helped us view the flooring we were interested in. We placed our order for our flooring. Within a few weeks we were contacted for our installation. Our installer was named Al. More like super Al! Al tore out our old flooring which looked to be a very tough job. He then installed our new floor. As Al was wrapping up, first he swept the floor, then he was back down on his hand and knees with a towel wiping our floor clean. Wow. Talk about commitment. We were also impressed that Jim stopped out to check on the progress, then again after the install was completed to make sure everything looked good. Not only did it look good, we felt it looked great! I have to admit, I am very particular about how things look and our floor really looks great.
