    Korean Rice Bowl
    Jane N.

I ordered the Korean bowl because it was recommended by the waiter. I can't really tell if it tasted good because it was drowned in hot sauce! The meat was seared yet still tough. I couldn't bring myself to eat bloody meat! The waiter did not check on us often enough. He forgot my sons extra sauce even though he said he would bring extra on the side. The waiter argued with us that there was enough sauce. He made no apologies for recommending a spicy dish to me. The led light above the table was so blinding that it gave my daughter a headache. There should be a diffuser on it. I had to place my food directly under the light to see what I was eating. It totally ruined the ambiance which to me seemed like a fast food bar. Because I didn't want to stay a minute longer! . It was pretty terrible! Had the waiter returned after we took a few bites I would have ordered something else.

Salmon DLT in, and I was really excited about the curry soup, which did not disappoint. I also tried the jambalaya, which is excellent. Will definitely be back :-)

Stopped for a quick lunch with my daughter and her dog, Bella. Wecwent to a different Great Dane first, but they were not dog friendly, boo, so we came here. We were seated immediately on the outside patio and loved meeting the other dogs. Our waitress Christina was so sweet. I ordered the Wisconsin Mac and cheese, which came with a warm pretzel bun. It's so good that my daughter started eating my lunch, lol!! She ordered the Big Dog Smash melt, substituting the beef with a black bean burger and her side was waffle cut fries. She enjoyed both. I had a pint oof their monthly wheat beer and my daughter had a mojito. Both drinks were good. Would definitely come back when visiting my daughter in Madison.

Chicken Pot Pie, Cheese Fries, Crispy Seared Brussels Sprouts, High Point Harvest Bowl

We were passing by Madison and saw this location and the one downtown. The downtown reviews were better, but we assumed the menu/recipes couldn't possibly vary that much, so we came here since it was closer in route. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with our entire experience. *Long review alert: It was a late Sunday afternoon, so not quite lunch or dinner, but they decided to seat us to an even emptier upstairs. We thought that was strange when there were open tables downstairs. The host gave us brunch menus, but according to all the signs, brunch already ended. We asked the server bc we didn't want to order from the limited brunch menu, but she told us that was the only menu available... My fiancé went downstairs to double check, and sure enough, the host apologized and gave him the full menu. When our server finally returned again to take our order (20 mins later), we asked for IPAs, but she had no idea what beers were available. We showed her the website offerings, but apparently they didn't have the ones we wanted. The beers she named off, she said two were IPAs, only to find out later, they definitely weren't. If she wasn't knowledgeable on beers, I would've rather she said that than try to play it off and give false info. Not only was the server slow, the kitchen was even slower- food took 40 mins to come out. The Crispy Seared Brussels Sprouts were soggy and super greasy- drenched in sauce. The High Point Harvest Bowl had potential but was very lightly flavored. The Cheese Fries were also soggy, and by that look of it, the Chicken Pot Pie was a let down as well. We overheard the server talking to a nearby table boasting she's the best server at the restaurant and management listens to her. I'm embarrassed for the restaurant if she's their best. She was acting all cute with her tables, but she couldn't handle any questions or actual service. I'll leave C unnamed. We saw another table sit unattended and had to go ask someone for the server to come take their order. We saw her clean up a table and something spilled on the floor. She passed by on her way back but never went to pick up or clean it up. We also waited another 20 mins before we were able to grab her to get our check. We unnecessarily dined in for almost 2 hrs. The food was edible, so that's the 1 star, but this was a poor ending to our weekend road trip.

Greeted and seated right away! Our server was awesome. I was curious if I'd like the waffle fry and made a joke about trying one, he went to the kitchen and brought out a fry. He had great humor and was so attentive. Overall the food was okay. The smash burger was not a smash patty, and the fish was over cooked. Fries and cheese curds won the show. It is a comfortable place because ample seating options. Our server earned major points.

Went here last Monday and had a great lunch. My granddaughter and wife ordered the French onion soup. My daughter ordered a chicken soup, which she thought didn't have much taste. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was very good, but very hot...had to wait til it cooled off. We ordered the pretzel and beer cheese, which was very good. Service was good, atmosphere great..

    Sophie Y.

Ordered the beer cheese potato soup and pork chop for dinner. The bowl of soup wasn't even full, more like 80% in the plastic soup container. The center of the pork chop was pinkish which wasn't cooked thoroughly. I had to pan fry it since I didn't want to get sick by eating raw pork.

Y'all do not sleep on the Pretzel Board! It was amazing! Loved there was a selection of dipping sauces - garlic, horseradish mustard and cheese! The horseradish had a good kick. For a Saturday afternoon, it was very chill and relaxed inside the restaurant and the service was great. Michaela was great and very helpful!

Stopped by for a quick bite and was pleased with the Pretzel Board. The pretzel was exquisitely made and accompanied by beer cheese, a potent mustard, pickles and a very garlic forward butter. The server was delightful and the dining room temp was a pleasingly chill for the warm day. Overall a mellow and calm environment for a bite.

    NOT malt vinegar
    Todd S.

It's been a few years since I've been to the Great Dane. The years have not been kind. Took the wife, our daughter and grandkid here for lunch. We started with cheese curds and crispy seared Brussels. The sprouts were barely seared and the farthest thing from crispy. The outside could only be described as mushy. The inside was hard as a rock. The curds were pretty good. My wife asked the waiter for his recommendation between three choices and he suggested the Korean Rice Bowl. The grilled flank steak has so much gristle that she didn't eat it. Our daughter ordered the Moody Blue Burger that comes with bacon. She asked that bacon be cooked until crispy. The bacon looked as if sat in a pan for all of 30 seconds. After a 7-8 minute wait to get the waiter's attention (while everyone else's food was getting cold) he took the uncooked bacon and asked if she would like to have it cooked more. I had ordered the fried haddock. The fish itself, while extremely greasy, wasn't too bad. I asked the waiter for malt vinegar at ordering. When the fish arrived, I again reminded him I had asked for malt vinegar. He said the black liquid in a cup was malt vinegar (or at least what they served as malt vinegar). I'm always up for a substitution, someone else's artistic take on an item. This had no resemblance to malt vinegar. If you want a good cold beer and French fries this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay away.

The cauliflower wings were pretty good, probably our favorite dish out of the three. The truffle mac and cheese was okay, definitely a very strong essence of truffle and kind of liquidy rather than thick and creamy. As nacho connoisseurs, we were not fans of these ones at all. Beer cheese does not belong on nachos particularly with limited other toppings! Everything besides the bread part of the bread pudding was better - ice cream, whipped cream and strawberries. It was quite a bit dense and low on cinnamon flavor! Even a bit heavier caramel drizzle might've helped the case. I liked the Garden Party cocktail and we liked the mule, mojito was not our favorite. Seems like the tacos are popular and drinks were decent so would probably come back during happy hour for the cheap eats! But other than that would probably skip out during meals.

Wisconsin Brewing Company was founded in 2013 while my family was still living in Madison, and…read morerecently underwent a change to be called Lake Louie Brewing. My wife and I stopped in for dinner, and found it to be a good experience. An original founder was Kirby Nelson, who had become very well known in the area (during a time when craft brewing was just starting out), spending many years as head brew master at nearby Capital Brewery (a brewery I knew very very well, considering I worked nearby and had many work related events at their seasonal biergarten). I distinctly remember when they were building this location out in the middle of nowhere, and stopped in multiple times in the early years. In 2019, it merged with with Lake Louie Brewing (another smaller brewery whose beers I really liked). In 2023, it consolidated all of its beers under the Lake Louie moniker, including renaming this location. I hadn't stopped by since that had happened, so was looking forward to visiting for dinner during our second night of our Midwest road trip. They have a large outdoor dining areas, with nice views of the pond and some people were taking advantage. But it was dusk, and the mosquitos were out, so we chose inside seating. It was Wednesday, which meant they had $12 pitchers of any draft beers (which is a great deal). Instead, we ordered a flight ($12 for 4 pours) letting the bartender choose: Kiss the Lips, Badger Club, Warped Speed, Oktoberfest. Warped Speed was my favorite beer (Scotch ale) from the original Lake Louie before it got bought, and it didn't disappoint. The Wednesday special is a $12 small cheese and pepperoni pizza from JonnyO's (located in Belleville which isn't that close), and it's a decent size (enough for two people). We had to try it, but I wouldn't do it again. The price is outstanding, but the time to wait is too long. It is ordered and paid via kiosk. Basically, it's delivery and took exactly 1 hour for the pizza to be delivered. The pizza was OK, and would have been good if served fresh...but it tasted like a pizza that had been made 45 minutes ago and delivered. Definitely better when busier...my guess is that they waited for my pizza until the last possible minute for other orders to come in, and when it didn't, delivered it to meet the 1 hour promise time. I also got a pint of the Tart Lime Twist ($6) which went great with the pizza. We really liked the Tart Lime so got a 4 pack of that ($6) and my favorite (Warped Speed for $6), to bring back to California. The service was good throughout, and they used Square for their payment processing.
