Kim is a total bad ass, she cuts my mohawks painstakingly well and always rolls her eyes when I tell her what I want cause she says I look better with a comb over or faux hawk. NOPE, mohawk it is bawahahaha. Julie is a sweetheart and probably has the best aftercare technique after haircut with the scalp massage and all. That extra TLC is sooo luxurious. Can't really go wrong with the staff here at all. Inflation has taken the cost to $25 + tip, but hey, I like not looking ugly! read more

I moved to this area soon(ish) to be 2 years and found this place 1 days after moving. Julie was the first person to cut my hair and has been the only one since that day (literally, the only one through that entire time). As someone who prefers a cut every 2-3 weeks (more 2 than 3), I can tell you that she hasn't failed me once. When I need to travel for an extended period of time, I've gone to Julie the day before (and once the day of) my flight to make sure I don't need a cut during my trip and I've always waited to come back to get it cut again. The other members are nice. It's a chill and relaxed vibe. When they're packed, they move in a timely manner without rushing what they're doing or their clients. Was looking for a decent hair cut- nothing crazy, no styling, just a trim... Walked in, no wait (it was around lunch time) got my trim. Great experience, simple, no funny chemical smells in there, or perfume for that matter, and there was a tv to watch in the mirror. Best part was the price was reasonable!! I am very picky with my hair so I was wary of trying out this place given the mixed reviews. I needed a haircut on the fly because my work schedule fluctuates so I can't commit to appointments with barber shops. I stumbled upon this place because it was near my house and was seated within 10 minutes. I got a far simpler cut than my usual mid-fade and lineup to test the waters and was pleased with my trim. I asked for a taper with a quarter inch off the top and that was nearly what I got. In addition to my haircut, my stylist offered to rinse my hair at no extra charge much to my surprise. Well worth the $17 + tip (they accept credit cards) if you're looking for a simple cut. I'll be back in two weeks for my next cut. read more

Men's haircuts (10 & up) are $17 which is a fair price for great cuts, convenient location and prompt service. My kids are suuuuuuper picky about their hair and we have been pleased thus far. I'm a huge fan of this spot. The haircuts are very good and excellent value. Julie and Kathleen also have wonderful technique and service (they're so nice, professional, and pleasant!!). Believe it or not I got my wedding hair done here. Not only was it beautiful (got lots of compliments and I would do it again in a heartbeat!!) but the price was AMAZING - $50 for the trial and $50 for the day of. Tip: they call it an updo and each updo is $50. I know others who paid at least $200 and that was supposedly the cheapest they could find. This place is so underrated -- highly recommend! read more

13 dollar mens cut. Please let me know if I'm wrong, but for affordability on a mens cut near santa clara university, I think this is the place to go to. Right at the edge of El Camino Real and The Alameda. It's next door to subway near by the safeway and round table pizza. Typically 2 or 3 stylist working. All nice ladies. I haven't really seen it get really busy there yet. The longest I had to wait was about 15 minutes. I've been there 3 times and they've been very consistent with my hair. I keep mines short either spiked or hawked. The next closest place for a mens cut is a couple doors down at Blu Salon. However even with a student id, I think it's still about 35 dollars for a mens cut. Understandably it is a salon. Tip the ladies at Great Cut well and they'll remember you. My hair grows a little bit weird according to most stylist so I always give a new place 2 tries before making a decision. 2nd and 3rd time both turned out pretty good so I believe this is where I'm going from now on. Only thing I would want more is a better fade and a single blade to line it up a little cleaner. But then I might as well find myself a barbershop. 4 stars. read more

I've been coming to this location for a couple of years and have tolerated some idiosyncrasies because overall the service has been solid. In the past the service has varied from efficient if impersonal (fine by me) to very warm and friendly. Today, however, I had a very negative experience leading me to likely not return. I went out of my way to stop by before a trip and got there at 6:20p (they close at 7p). There were two adult men and one boy waiting with two men finishing up their cuts. Barely looking up from her customer one of the stylists says "can you come back tomorrow?". Sure I heard her wrong I ask her to repeat - "can you come back tomorrow?". "What time do you close?" I reply. "Seven". I've been getting haircuts for a LONG time. Guys hair can easily be cut in 10, perhaps 15 minutes. Even so, not so much as an apology and certainly no expression of appreciation for my long-time support of their establishment. I try to support the local place when I can, but hell I can go to Supercuts and pay the same price for the same cut. This was less than minimal customer service and given the plethora of options I'll be happy to not inconvenience them further with my business. read more

This haircut I just received was equivalent to going to a movie theater to watch a crappy sequel. You get to the theatre with high hopes, grab yourself a nice blue and red slurpee, some popcorn, and a great front and center seat. The movie starts and it's bad from the start. The first scene is cut extremely short, and the following scenes are just trying to work out the kinks from the beginning. All you can do is sit there in sadness and wonder how a director could screw up so badly after doing such a great job the first time. Just hope you have a close friend with steady hands to shave the back of your neck because the director clearly forgot to do an ending. read more

The two ladies who work here are perpetually bored, so you're going to be able to drop in for a $12 hair cut (if you're a guy) at pretty much any time of the day they're open. The cut is quick and professional, and I'm guessing they were speaking Vietnamese, so if you're viet, you can listen in. My boyfriend decided that today was the day for a haircut. Due to a highway accident seriously delaying all traffic, we detoured on to the Alameda and found this place. Upon walking in, I was impressed with the ambiance. Clean, inviting and a nice seating area with a modern sofa and two comfy chairs. Tons of magazines to keep you occupied until it is your turn in the chair. Haircut price was $12 and it was worth it as his hair looked great. LADIES- DO NOT GET YOUR HAIR CUT HERE! The woman who cut my hair was rude and very impersonal. The only thing she said to me the entire time was, "your hair is so dry" and made a disgusted face. She took no more than 10 minutes cutting my hair and gave me the worst haircut of my entire life. The haircut she gave me was choppy with layers cut in random areas all around my head. I now must find another hair salon to fix the awful job she did on me. The haircut was so bad that it ruined my entire day. WORST. HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE. Running my fingers through my hair is a terrible experience as there are random short pieces of hair everywhere, I can hardly bear to look at my hair in the mirror. They do not wash your hair, instead they spray some water on it with a cheap bottle. The woman who cut my hair didn't bother pinning/clipping any part of my long hair up, she just grabbed chunks with her hands and snipped it off. I ended up with terrible layers cut in random areas, all of which are choppy on the ends from the way she lazily chopped them off. I literally could've given a five-year-old scissors and would have had a better result. Unless you want your day AND hair ruined, then DO NOT COME HERE! My friend and family all agree that it is an awful haircut (it's not just me). Please, please, please listen to my advice and do not get your hair cut here at least if you are a female. read more

I redownloaded this app, specifically to leave this review. I have never in 26 years gotten a worse hair cut. Uneven on each side and basically ended in the hair dresser buzzing my whole head. Which I could have easily done myself and it would have looked better and cost less. Never ever go here unless you want to look like you cut your own hair on ambient. I truly and honestly believe that the women who cut my hair does not even have a license to do so. I have gotten better hair cuts from my mom using a bowl when I was 8. Worst haircut ever. I just got my first haircut in 8 months since shelter-in-place happened. Haircuts are done outside in the parking lot under a tent. I did a walk-in and was seated right away with no wait around noon during the week. My hairstylist wore a mask, face shield and gloves, and I kept my mask on the whole time. It was hot outside but I had a fan pointed at me and the haircut was quick. Highly recommend this place for a safe, quick no-nonsense haircut at a reasonable price; all things I highly value during this age of COVID-19. read more

I realized how badly I need a trim and had some time to spare before class and noticed this place on the way. I walked in and was greeted and seated immediately. For under $20 (including tip) I was able to get a quick trim. The stylist who helped me was super nice and didn't try selling me any products and quickly sent me on my way to class with no split ends to pick at :) Don't think I'd trust them with a full on haircut or style but was better than paying $80+ for a trim at a salon. read more
