Quick and simple local barber shop. Pricing is quite fair and cuts are fast and efficient, but CASH ONLY (as I unfortunately discovered and had to run around finding a working ATM). I only interacted with Tim, but he was professional and less talkative (perfectly fine for my introverted self). I had a fairly simple cut and am not very fussy about my styling, but things came out quite clean and I was happy with the work done. As of Oct 2022: $30 for a men's trim, $10 for hairwash There's plenty of parking space for the collection of stores in the area, so it should be easy enough to get a spot. That said there isn't much in the way of bike parking, at least not visibly near the shop. The shop itself is fairly small, as there are only two chairs and additional seating for 3 folks to wait around. Calling ahead helps, but walkins are just fine during quieter hours. read more

I tried to trim my hair with an electric shaver/thinner. I inadvertently had it set at the thinnest level. It was a disaster! I made large bald spots on both sides of my head. Ana performed a miracle. She is amazing! She also has calming music playing which helped me to relax and feel comfortable. And to top it off, she used an electric percussion massage gun on the back of my neck and shoulders. I highly recommend her! read more

I recently moved in the neighborhood and I needed to find a new hair person. I got in and I was served right away by Tim. I have never had a more efficient conversation with a hair stylist about what I wanted done to my hair. Tim was quick, I think he got me out in 10-15 minutes with a good haircut (my dad back home has a barber shop and I am kind of picky with it, Tim nailed it). Dear Tim I hope you read this. I have been having you cut my hair for about 10 years now, and that last time was the last. I'm never going back to you! It was a Saturday, it was my anniversary, around noon and nobody was waiting. It's been months since I got my hair cut. All I wanted was a trim. I gave you simple instructions, "I'm growing out my hair, I would like it cleaned up around the ears and a little off the top, and thin it out around my cowlick. I'm feathering back the sides..slicking them back." At first I was happy what you were doing, you were doing what I the customer had asked. Then WOOMPH...a handful of hair came off! I was shocked, and there was nothing that I could of done!! Then you cut the top...sigh! Do you know what it's like to see your hair just get butchered off!?! After giving you specific instructions.. Why even ask the customer how they want their hair cut then!?!?! Seriously! I sat there, waiting for you to get done. My stomach was getting in knots! I was so stressed out..I couldn't wait to leave!!! You gave me a high fade..remember! Do you know how hard it is to find a good barber!?! I gave you 10 years of business! When I got home my Wife saw my hair and expression, she felt sorry!! She knew that I was growing it out. She wanted to call you to give you an ear full! Why!?! Its done!! It's only hair right! Been here a few times for my kids cuts and they both do a decent job. They aren't friendly at all.. no small talk, nada.. just straight business. The lady did crack a smile the other day and it was nice to see a tiny bit of personality.. but smiles aren't as important as a good haircut. $20 imo is a little pricy for a quick cut for my kids.. but cost of living effects everyone so yeah, take my money. read more

Great neighborhood barber shop. I came to this place for about 5 years, before moving away. When I recently came back (after about 2 years), Tim still remembered me, and the friends and family members that I have referred to this place. Not only do you get a great haircut, and a fair price, the hot shave trim cannot be underestimated. After being spoiled by that treatment, every other haircut has been a let down. Very pricey! It cost $2 more for fading, $7 more for lineups. The only reason why this place is expensive is because they have the words barber shop. In fact it's just another one of those Vietnamese hair salons. I recommend this other barber shop in willow glen called mission barber as they charge $10 less and they do all the fancy trimmings and fades at no extra charge. Would do zero stars if I could . I've gone here for years and everything was mediocre but out of no where Tim decided his ideas were better than what my request were for my hair and beard. I gave Tim and Ana more than enough chances to fix their wrongs without saying anything. From Ana giving me an entire wrong cut from the length that I said, to Tim deciding what he thinks is best despite my wishes. I told Tim to not touch my beard at all and then gave my request for my haircut, he then decided to get hack my beard off. I stopped him and told him again I did NOT want him to do anything with my beard and he responded as if he understood and then moments later hacked my beard off so fast before I could say anything a third time to stop him. What was a life time customer they've lost because they completely disregard my wishes or requests and do whatever they please. One of my favorite barber shops, ever. Very old school yet it's a Vietnamese couple who own and run the place - who also work long hours, 6 days a week so I don't mind paying $15 for a hair cut here. Cash only. Best part of this place, is the shopping center it's in. I usually come here, then go have a sushi lunch at Yuki, go over to the model train shop for some magazines, and get a drink to go at the liquor store. This place always gives me a good haircut. Here's the straight scoop, because it may or may not be for everyone (these apply to both Tim and Ana): - they are very good at cutting hair (very consistent from visit to visit) - they do all the little things I used to expect from a barber shop, growing up, but rarely find any more - current price for a haircut is $17, so you do have to pay for what you get - they're not too talkative, which is fine by me, because I'm the same way - they can be friendly, but are usually all business - they are always polite and professional I guess if you have a simple hair style, it might not be worth the $17, when you can find other places in the $8 - $10 range. On the other hand, paying a bit extra may be worth it to you, because you're going to get a good, consistent haircut, which is something you probably won't get at the less expensive place. That's worth something, in my opinion. I recommend giving them a try, you may find that you really like them. read more

I'm from Fremont and really needed a local barber. Tried 2 other places and found a barber but they left. So I tried here to finds another new barber. I called for an appointment and they weren't busy so I was able to drive and be seen immediately. Should've taken that as a sign. The lady cutting my hair was nice enough. I called in for a haircut for my roommate and I around 5:00 and was able to reserve two chairs without a problem. We paid 16 a piece and tipped 5 dollars each for a grand total of 42 dollars. There are a few things which set this shop apart from others. The shop is impeccably clean for one, there is very little hair strewn about. Our cuts lasted 20 minutes and included a massage gun, a vacuum to remove any excess cut hair from our heads, and mints. They also have very reasonable hours to accomodate a 9-5 schedule. I will absolutely be returning and will continue to give them my business every month. I highly recommend them for men's cuts. read more

$15 for a haircut seems a bit too pricey for this Supercuts-type barber shop -- why not just go to Supercuts then since the higher traffic place probably has more practiced employees & consistency. That said, I look ok today after Cedar Tree. I don't plan to return though. read more

I have been coming to the Cedar Tree Barbershop for 7-8 years now. It is hands down the best barber shop I have ever had the pleasure of going to in terms of service and quality of cut! There are two primary barbers who work here and both are very friendly and highly skilled. I have a very particular way I like to style my hair, and they have always taken the time to make sure I am happy with my cut when walking out the door. Given that they always get it right on the first go around.
