We read tons of reviews for all of the stylists at Bishops Santa Clara and made an appointment unassigned to any particular one. We got Kat What a ray of sunshine she is. She is totally my Tr1B3. She spoke kindly to my daughter getting the haircut and gave her suggestions. 45-mins later my daughter walked out with a haircut her teenage self loves so much. The vibe in this Bishops illustrates why the Cupertino one appears to be struggling. The moment you walk in, it is like a club atmosphere, with stylists' stations flanking the front desk and a cute lil dog in a Burberry-styled dress/skirt tottering about. The art work on display above every stylists' station adds a cool touch for each. And the Front Desk is splashed with celebrity photos pieced together scrapbook style. My son and I tried to identify each one so it's a fun talking point between geriatric millennial mother and Gen Z son waiting for Gen Alpha daughter's haircut. I feel settled down here and will book my own hair appointment with Kat next time! read more

Tina was beyond wonderful. She was extremely kind and helpful when deciding what to do with my hair she provided honest results with my Balayage I wanted to achieve. She constantly made sure i was comfortable and during the process and it was one of the best experiences I had. I got my hair dyed here and it washed out in 1 week. I washed it twice before the color was basically completely gone. I went back to get it fixed and they still charged me full price even though I was originally told the color would last 20-30 washes. It doesn't look bad at all and I understand they had to use more dye, but paying $60 (pre-tip) for a service that didn't even last a week and then not even getting a discount to get it fixed is a bit ridiculous. Was also hoping to get a different color because I wasn't in love with the darker version of the same color that I got the first time, but the stylist wasn't open to anything else. I only came back thinking that getting something *fixed* wouldn't mean paying the full amount again. Should've asked. Won't be back. read more

I was having a hard time deciding what I wanted to do with my hair now that the "silver threads" are coming in. I found Bishop's Santa Clara online and decided to give them a try since I don't have a regular salon that I go to. When I walked in I was greeted by Tina who I had my appointment with. The salon itself was very clean and modern and had a relaxing vibe to it. We sat down and talked about what options I had and I went with her suggestion of baby lights. Tina was very attentive and knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Throughout the process we chatted about general topics and kept it comfortable. The end result was amazing!! I looked fresh and best of all YOUNGER haha I have never colored my hair before but I listened to Tina and got the results I was hoping for. I came here to get a blowout, and instead I just got my hair blow dried. Not a blowout at all! It's was not what I wanted at all. It seemed to me like the guy had no idea how to do it. I also asked if they can add a bit of oil to my hair because it was so dry and frizzy. They told me they couldn't find any and said somebody else that works there knows where it is, but they weren't there. Like what?? You guys are supposed to know where everything is. PLS GET YOUR HAIR CUT HERE! I just got a cut with Fran, who is absolutely amazing!! They are so skilled and made me feel really confident in going for a huge chop today. I also have curly hair, which makes me a bit nervous about haircuts, but Fran did a great job making sure my curls went with my cut! The salon itself is very clean and open, which made me feel safe w/ COVID precautions. And you may get to see Max, a friendly dog owned by one of the stylists :) The pricing of hair cuts here feel very reasonable ($53 for a "long cut", which means hair below your ear coming in). I have seen a few Bishop shops all over the Bay and headed to my local one in Santa Clara to change up my hair! From end-to-end, they properly took care of me from consultation to execution. My hair was done by the amazing Sara Perez! Saray made sure that I was comfortable the entire time, made sure that every choice they made was communicated, and that I was okay to proceed. I also have Natural Asian Black hair, but Sara was super confident in being able to get me to the light blonde I wanted. They worked with confidence and I had my full trust in them. I am more than happy that I contacted Bishops and had my hair done by Sara. I also appreciate that Sara was very personable as well and it felt like I was talking to one of my friends as opposed to an awkward salon moment. I had a very poor experience with another gentleman who works there, but under new management I decided to give this place another try. I think I found my new hairstylist! I loved how Kat was so detail oriented and she made me feel very comfortable and at ease right away. Extremely disappointed with my first experience at Bishop. Salons need to be transparent about what they're doing and how much it costs. They need to get explicit consent from their customers instead of sneakily adding services to rack up the total. I won't be returning to this location again because it was a total scam. I was quoted $160 for my original appointment for just a haircut and single color, but the total ended up being $290!!! - $150 for bleached highlights I didn't agree to - $50 for toner/glaze (which I found out after Googling that it's not permanent and washes off quickly which I wasn't informed of) - $50 for a hair cut that wasn't what I asked for, evening after showing pictures - $35 for "styling" which translates to a few curls that I also didn't ask for To start, I have dark brown hair and am naturally a brunette. When I arrived, Ej asked what I wanted done today. I told him specifically that I wanted layers and to color my hair a golden/light brown. I even showed him pictures on my phone of how I wanted my hair cut. He brushed it off and asked if I already had color in my hair. I said I do, but it was done in September and it's now April. He recommends I do something different today and come back another time to color my hair. I told him I had a wedding to go to this month and I wanted my hair colored today, not "later". He tells me he can "lighten" my hair and "go from there". I wish he had done a better job explaining what he was doing to my hair and asking me explicitly if this is what I wanted. Not once did he mention the word "bleach" until it was too late. Ej starts by cutting a few inches off my hair and telling me he'll add layers after coloring. He comes back after mixing some chemicals together. I asked him what it was because I hadn't agreed on a color yet. He tells me it's a "lightener". I've used non-bleach lighteners from Target before so I thought okay. After putting it in my hair, he walks off without telling me how long it's going to be. An HOUR and fifteen minutes later, he comes back and tells me I need to choose a color but I can only choose from these 2 rows in the book. None of them looked like the golden/light brown I had asked for, but I chose the closest one. He finally rinses me off and shows me a piece of my hair - IT'S BLEACHED BLONDE!!! I'm almost speechless but I hesitantly asked, "Wow you did that without bleach?" He replies, "No it's bleach." Are you kidding me?!?! I've never bleached my hair before and never wanted to because of how fragile it is. I would have NEVER agreed to Ej bleaching my hair had he told me what it was instead of calling it just a "lightener". He then uses his bare hands to put toner/glaze in my hair while I'm in the rinse chair still. I didn't even know what it was until after I asked for an itemized bill at checkout. Because of the sloppy technique, the end result was some bleached hair being orange and many spots still being blonde. He leaves me in the rinse chair for another 20 minutes. I had no idea what my hair looked like until he seated me back in the salon chair to blow dry my hair. I looked like Tony the Tiger and it was nowhere near the golden/light brown color I had asked for. He asks if I want "framing layers". I thought this was IN ADDITION to the layered haircut I had already asked of him and showed him pictures of. Nope. He trimmed hairs near my face and was done. Instead of asking me if I wanted curls in my hair for an additional fee, he takes it upon himself to just start doing it so he can charge me extra for it. In the end, I told him it looked nice, but I didn't tell him that it wasn't what I asked for AT ALL. What's the point? The damage is done. read more

I was scheduled for an appointment on Friday, October 13th at 2pm. About an hour before the appointment they called to let me know that their previous appointment was going to go over and they wouldn't be able to serve me that day. Understandable. Things happen. My appointment provider asked if I was free for 2pm the following day, October 14th and I happily scheduled the appointment. The next day, today, I was sent a text message from them asking to move to 4. Understandable, they had gone over but at least they were serving me today. I responded to the text within 10 minutes of receiving it and even though it would only be a cut without the color I thought it would still be worth my time to come. After arriving at 4 o clock, I made my way into the shop to a surprised barber. He seemed to be the only one there and was serving another customer. I could tell he was wondering why I was in his shop. I showed him my text and he shrugged and told me that he was booked and that the person who texted me had already left for the day. Hahaha. What a waste of time. All this talk of a 20% discount and a sorry for the inconvenience and no follow ups just to have to head back home with my tail between my legs. What makes it worse is tonight is my birthday dinner and wanted to look good for the pictures. Oh well, it's hard to find hair appointments last minute at 4:30 on a Saturday. I hope whomever books here has a better experience than I did and strongly encourage you to book first appointment of the day if you do. I'm bothered with the lack of communication and disrespect by this shop and will happily reach out to other businesses in the future. More like a 3.5 in my book. I've seen Bishops in downtown Sunnyvale and noticed one opened in SCS. Making an appointment online was easy. I scheduled on the same day, an hour before coming in. I got a wash and cut 5 inches off of my hair. Price is $47 for a long cut and $39 for short cut. I liked the tea tree shampoo they used which was tingly and refreshing. The one thing that was uncomfortable was that shampoo/conditioner got in my ear and I could hear it bubbling up. I wiped it off myself after as soon as I got up. The stylist was nice and talkative, but he kept checking his phone so that was kinda weird. He would cut part of my hair and then go over to his phone. Usually at a salon, you're just in and out. This happened more than a few times so I asked if there was something he had to take care of to which he mentioned he was consulting with clients who couldn't come in. Overall, my visit was fine. On Tuesdays, they offer 30% off services from 11 am - 3 pm. Tbh I would've felt disappointed if I paid full price. read more

I reached out to Bishops and they were able to squeeze me in for an appointment that day with Amanda to fix my hair disaster. They were so welcoming and sympathetic. Amanda walked me through every step she planned to take to fix my hair, which made me feel so reassured from the start. She was able to tone down my chunky highlights and add in a lot of dimension. I got my haircut from Binh a few times now. He always goes above and beyond. I came with difficult requests, I showed him pictures and asked him to help me collect my hair for donation. He helped me out and gave an awesome cut! I got compliments on it for weeks, so when it grew out again, I came back! I asked him to give me a new beard style, he learned it and did it for me, and it looked amazing. I almost forgot to mention, he put on the best music when I walked in! when I mentioned I liked the bands, we had a discussion about the members over the years. Unfortunately I don't trust this place anymore. I asked them for a dark copper orange and this is the results. I called them back and they told me they can fix it for free. Minutes later they told me they were actually going to charge me another $180. Why do I need to pay again for something I didn't ask for? I don't recommend getting your hair done by EZ . He did not follow directions and lied about being able to give me a copper color. Now I'm left with a lighter root and my hair is still the same color it was before. read more
