Cut my hair here for the first time today and had a great experience from the moment I stepped in. Lexi was the lady who cut my hair and listened and did exactly what I wanted--which was just a 2 inch trim and she fixed my layers which turned out perfectly and I had no complaints. Great customer service and the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. I also enjoyed the sports bobbleheads and decor which was cool to look at. They accept both card and cash--but there is a charge if card is used. I'd definitely come back here the next time I need a cut! read more

Excellent! My daughter and I were looking for a no frills place to get our hair cut. Our normal salon was booked, so we found MVP Salon had good reviews. The owner took over the barber shop 2 years ago and now serves a wider customer base. She is very friendly and efficient, as is the other stylist. Reasonably priced, too. I walk past this salon all the time (the former Ken's ) which catered to men only ... until today when I was just doing my 10thousand steps from my house ... saw that they had lady customers... so I peeped. The beauticians were very welcoming so I asked if they would accept walk ins. Without a plan, a lady named Lexi (who was really Linh ) examined my hair (like a hair doctor) I said I wanted a trim and a full hair dye. She then explained that a hair touch up would be best instead of a total hair dye and would be cheaper and safer . We discussed the price and agreed to it . She came back and said she had the exact hair color that was needed. She treated my hair like it was very special. By the end of the day, I was fully satisfied. Linh even taught me how to style my hair with big curlers! They were a team with the other beauticians named T. This is my new salon now. It felt like I was home. Did I mention that they were a lot cheaper like $25 for a basic cut whereas others would charge $40? There was nonstop walk ins male and female of all ages! They were quick and good at what they do. I've had my haircut here 3 times since moving last year to Santa Clara, and have been very happy. Most recently Lexi (Linh) cut my hair, and she was great. She cut it just the way I like, and is friendly and helpful with great energy that had me feeling good the rest of the day. I asked her if it was her spa, and she said she was the owner, but it is "our spa", explaining that it is run as a team effort by all the stylists there, which I really appreciate. Love this salon! Lexie is a great stylist -- she really listens to what you want. She looked at a few photos with me and made suggestions, and I was really happy with the result. The service has always been fast (I phone first but have been able to get appointments in a hurry sometimes) and the price is beyond reasonable for this quality of work. I can't say enough good things about Lexi. After several months of letting my hair grow from pixie cut length to my shoulders, I decided to go back to the shorter cut. This personally happened to me yesterday. I walked into MVP Hair Salon hoping for a simple, positive experience, but unfortunately, it was the opposite. From the moment I arrived, the stylist seemed more interested in pushing her own agenda than listening to what I actually wanted. I clearly explained the hairstyle I was looking for, but instead of respecting my request, she argued with me and insisted on her own ideas. Getting your hair done should be collaborative and respectful, not confrontational. Because the stylist continued to push back instead of working with me, I ultimately decided to walk out without receiving any service. I believe a good stylist should listen first and make their client feel comfortable. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. read more

Lexi, who owns the shop, comes off as very genuine, polite, and easy to work with. Don't go here if you value your hair looking the way you want it to. I was sitting in one of their chairs, in the middle of explaining what I wanted (a simple trim, just an inch off the sides and top), when the hairdresser interrupted me and began cutting my hair without letting me finish. What was I left with? Hair shorter than it's been since I was an infant, a different hairstyle than what I came in with, and -$20 to show for it all. I'm not sure how they messed it up so badly. Do they assume all men want the same haircut automatically? Perhaps if I had been listened to, she would have known that wasn't the case. Let my hair be a warning to you all--I know it'll be a warning to me during the next several months as I spend growing it back out to the length I originally wanted. Avoid this place. You'd be better off spending your $20 on clippers and cutting your own hair. I'm certain that if I had done so, my hair would have fared better than it did getting 'trimmed' at this establishment. read more

I was introduced to Ken by my Father more than 10 years ago. I've been going to "Kens.." to get my haircuts ever since... I always liked the quality of his haircuts, and his wit. We always had interesting conversations, and he was always there, so I knew I could always depend on him when I had an hour to squeeze in to get that haircut. Early 2023 he confided in me that he wanted to sell his shop, and move back to his homeland, to take care of aging family members. Late 2023 he did just that! He mentioned that he thought the woman he sold the shop to, would be a good fit for his customers, and thought she would might some fresh energy back into "Kens.." Well, that woman turned out to be Linh! I met her the first time end of 2023 when she first took over from Ken, when he was first on "holiday." She greeted me warmly, with a wonderful smile, and a very friendly wave of her hand to sit on the chair in front of her. I left that first visit impressed, and in every subsequent visit, more and more so, as her boundless energy and enthusiasm, have slowly won me over. I got the same haircut for 20 years, then Linh casually mentions, you know, I have this idea, it will make you look a lot better, ... well, we went for it, and when I looked in the mirror, a different person was sitting there looking back at me. We agreed, she is a magical beautician, but I still personally think she is a magician. Give her a try for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
