This place is the worst! My son just went in for a basic hair cut and came out with sections of hair missing and a horrible cut. The cutter tried to cover up the mistakes by combing over them. They do not have consistent service and leave you in tears most visits. We will never return to this establishment. The managers should start managing. read more

I truly despise the haircut I received from Amberly. She chopped off most of my hair. I can't stop crying. I told her specifically not to take off any of the length, and to only shorten the sides and top. I was very very clear that I wanted to keep the basic shape and length. When she started cutting I thought that since I have curly hair with a lot of body, that what I was feeling was just part of that. But when she finished and turned me toward the mirror I was in shock. She had chopped off most of my hair. It looked/looks terrible. I couldn't believe it. I had medium to long hair my whole life, and now I can't stand the way it looks. I always really liked my hair, and now it's going to take many months for it to grow back. When I returned home a friend tried to salvage it by trimming it a bit to improve the shape. But the shape of the cut is just bad. I am aware that in comparison to all of the suffering going on in the world this is nothing. And what's important about a person is who they are inside. Awful haircut yesterday. My hair is medium thickness and curly, and was long until I visited this place. I had even straightened it out to make it easy for the hairdresser. I requested the hairdresser for 3 simple things - 1. Retain length (it took me a year to grow my hair to the length it was and I wanted to keep it. 2. Gradual layers from shortest being neck length to the tip being as long as possible by just trimming out dead hair. 3. Retain length!! She took 75% of my hair thickness at once and chopped it off. Only then realizing too late that the remaining hair was too thin for gradual layers. I wouldn't mind if she was upfront, that she made a mistake, and she would do the best to fix it. After all humans make mistakes. But she kept insisting that my hair was too thin, my hair was too thin! Which at first, I assumed was small talk, but when I looked at the result, I was just astonished, I was in shock, I had no idea how to react or what to say. There was most of my hair neck length, with some messy layers, and a remaining 20% just hanging behind, long. And she says to me, your hair is too thin, I don't know what to do now. My hair is 1/3rd its length now! :( It used to almost reach my jeans belt line, now it barely goes below my shoulders. The layers suck! The part she chopped off first has layers, but the remaining part which she realized later was too thin was just cut horizontally. It all doesn't merge together. :( I am definitely not going back! I read good reviews about Jill in the other posts for this place. My dresser was not her, I believe her name was Amberly. This is my worst haircut which I ever got by far! Not going back to this location, ever. It stinks that I have to wait another year to have my hair the length I wanted it to be, a whole year, just because the hairdresser was so incompetent! read more

Wow, lots of disappointed customers here. To set up expectations: you are not wondering into world-class 19-star Italian hair salon. This place does exactly what it advertises -- great clips. Fast, inexpensive, tidy. All boys/men in our family get great cuts there and all are very happy. Our girls (my wife and daughter) require a little more attention and style, and go to "InStyle". One other point: it is a busy place. Do things their way -- online check-in is fast and easy (no logins required), so please check-in online and reserve your spot. Don't be late. My 17 year old son went in on Saturday to get a trim, he has sort of long very curly hair. The woman told him "I don't like my son to have long hair. You'll look better with short hair." In regards to the businesses location, there is no way of rating the business between a 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 star. So I had to rate it a 4. I rated it four because of location and proximity to other stores: per stores, grocery stores etc. In terms of being professional, I honestly and very truthfully would rate that certain store a 3 star. Nothing more. From arriving to departing. Now it's one thing for a person to be who they are, and not changing their personalities AT ALL. However a person can change their behavior/ demeanor/ attitude/ and how they see things. The staff can either be positive or negative. **There is NO in Between. The End with that aspect.** "No excuses, no exceptions." You are there to work and be a decent, nice, kind, respectful person, and act like an adult human being. I get it...work isn't always fun and working long days and hours isn't ideal, but be fortunate the staff does earn money. We are visiting family nearby and this was one of very spots to get a decent haircut. While I'm glad I got my haircut which didn't come too cheap, I am glad its done and over with. I personally would much rather try a local salon that is need of some business, not just a business that is spread over a number of US states. The woman that did cut and trim my hair to the needs, she did a good job. I would rate that a four as well. There is a great clips in our big city, northern FL and the staff there are very nice, always greet customers no matter how tired they are, and a thousand percent always make sure customers leave on a good note and in hopes of returning repeatedly. Regardless of location and everything else mixed in, it would have been nice knowing the staff at this business location acted a bit more personable instead of being closed, introverted, less judged by. read more

I got a terrible haircut from a heavy set woman. She cut my hair very quickly without taking her time and missed a few details. She did not shape the sideburns and I had to go back in to have her do it. She also did not line up the edges and missed a patch of hair on the side of my head. She also did not hold a mirror up like all good barbers do so that you can see all around. Before I go into my spiel I'll say that the women who work here are extremely polite and friendly, but I was really unhappy with my experience today. Went in today and asked for a low fade. I've had issues at places before not understanding what a 'low fade' is so I even shared some pictures to make it clear. The woman cutting my hair though probably never cut a man's hair before, judging by the quality of my cut. First of all, I actually had to remind her to fade the side burns. Secondly, 'fading' in her world means using one single length on the buzzer and I guess maybe just expecting it to fade? My normal barber starts at a 0 and works her way up until she can use scissors on the top. This woman used one length and so now my hair has what I call a "drop-off" which as you can imagine is the polar opposite of a fade. Secondly, a number of times she dug into my head with the clippers like she was scooping ice cream. It hurt, especially since the clippers definitely haven't been sharpened in a good while. It felt like they were tearing my hairs as often as they were cutting them. I finally got the hell out of there after paying and had to go straight to work, so no time to have it fixed at another establishment. I'll tell you, there's nothing worse than going a full shift with a terrible haircut. I took a picture and put it on facebook to share, maybe at least get some good laughs out of it. One last tidbit- I had to get the haircut because I'm a Marine and obviously we need military haircuts. So since I worked til midnight tonight I'm going in tomorrow at 6 with this absolute mess of a haircut. And I'm absolutely sure I'll be chewed out for it... so thanks for that. 1/100 - never going back. Yes really me thinks not! Rude rude rude! Would give zero stars if possible. I should have looked up the pathetic reviews this place has before making the online appointment. In spite of making an online appointment and arriving over an hour before closing, I was very rudely told that they would only be able to do my daughters haircut and would not be able to do my hair in spite of having only one person ahead of us. Asian hairstylist seemed not to like the fact that we checked in online and actually showed up. Btw what's with taking walk ins before you even though you already checked in online and are sitting in the waiting area??? I really love this place for my entire family. It is hard with today's busy life to make appointments sometimes and the convenience of just walking in with your 3 kids and having them all done at the same time it amazing! And I like how they take notes on the cut they are getting for reference for the next time! All great employees, super nice and the owners are great also. First time I've tried Great Clips. I'm giving them a bad rating today because I just went to get my haircut in Westford, arrived around 5:50pm when they are closing at 8pm and was told I couldn't get my haircut. They said they were closing early at 6pm. She said that it was the owners decision to close early. I said OK. What time is it? The person there said it's about 10 minutes to 6. I said OK, well there's still time before 6pm. She said, sorry. I've already started closing the register. So I said that's ... and probably another couple of explitives as well. I feel if you're open until 8pm, then you should be able to get your haircut if you walk in the door before 8pm. Even if you'd open until 6pm, you should be able to get your haircut if you walk in the door before 6pm. When I go to Market Basket and it's open until 7pm, I can still walk in at 6:59. They let me in. They may rush me along and play announcements over the loud speaker to get me to come to the register, but I can still walk in and shop until 7pm.. I expect that same thing everywhere I go. If it's going to work the way it does now, then I'd kindly suggest you change your closing hours to 5:45pm, not 6pm, to avoid any confusion. read more

I went here 2 weeks before my wedding and asked for them to shape my hair. I showed 2 photos and said "Please have it this length, but shape it this style, round in the back." Instead the stylist ended up cutting uneven chunks out of my hair and it is now way too short to do even the most basic updo. Even my bangs were cut, which was completely unnecessary. I had gone 6 weeks earlier to get a haircut, and that stylist did a great job, which is why I went back. After this experience though, I'm never going back again. This was my first time here and I'm definitely going to come again! I can't believe my haircut is only $14!! I have thick long hair so my hair is not easy to cut. I've been to other salons to get my haircut and it always costs at least $20. The staff here are friendly and there were 3 staff members present when I went, making the wait not as long. It was only a 15 minute wait for me...I've been so used to waiting for much longer periods of time at other salons. I also suggest using the online check-in so you can place your name on the waiting list before you actually arrive at the salon. Overall, the service was fast, friendly, and professional. Terrible customer service! I had checked in online with a 75 minute wait. I arrived at the estimated time at which point my name was top of the list. I walked in the door only to be told that they were closing early (now) and weren't taking anyone else. It was 4:30pm on a Friday when they are supposed to be open til 9pm. There was no indication online that they would be closing early. I know they have the ability to indicate early closings b/c I've seen other locations use this feature. They just hadn't bothered which indicates no consideration for their customers. The early closing doesn't bother me but the lack of sincere apology and consideration does! read more

I have never written a yelp review before however I was so disgusted by this place. I went in for a quick Blowout for an event I was attending. I was very rudely told this was not a service they provided, while I was looking at their service board. I questioned them as they were all sitting around on their phones. Today was the 2nd time when I had very unpleasant experience at Greatclips. Last time it was the Littleton salon and today Westford. Terrible haircut with total disregard to what I was telling. I asked very clearly for medium on top and lighter on the sides and that I do not like too much hair near my ears. However lady totally disregarded the instructions and just started mowing the hair using #1 clipper. And before I could stop her (less than 1 second), the hair were gone. If you don't understand the instructions at least have the common sense to start with a higher number and then go down. Also which rule says that someone cannot change his/her style. I don't care what you system says or what was done last time, you need to ask, understand and follow your customer's instructions. You messed up my hair and blamed me for not being clear on instructions and instead of offering no apology, asked me to be clean next time. Note - there will be no next time for you. read more

Before she cut, she asked me what I wanted and I said I wanted an inch off, she showed me how much that was before she cut-which I liked because I feel like "an inch" is different to every hair dresser for some reason. Have been here previously and got a reasonable cut for our children (mediocre at best but for the price point, fine). Not once but twice this week, signed in online. Estimated wait time was 32 minutes. Waited about 15 minutes and showed up. The first time there were about 5 people still waiting. Realizing this wasn't going to be a 17 minute wait, we left. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, we returned after signing in online using the same procedure on a different day. Showed up, they barely acknowledge us. Then they proceeded to let not one but three people who came in after we had been waiting in the store for 30 minutes get haircuts ahead of us. When I questioned the stylist to inquire if we had done something incorrectly, she answered the phone mid conversation with me with no apology or asking the person to hold. I walked out. I don't generally write reviews, but I just had the WORST experience. My 4 year old son has longish hair, I told her to cut only an inch off and keep the ears covered. She cut the inch, I told her "perfect", then she gathered a whole bunch and CUT IT ALL OFF before we could stop her (at which point there was no going back), including over the ears, and told him that she "would make him look like a boy" and would NOT stop repeating it, then after his ridiculously short cut saying he "now looks like a real boy" because she "couldn't tell before if he was a boy or girl". We BOTH had to tell her to stop cutting before she finally claimed she was done. It still came out uneven and looks like it was cut with a weedwacker. The only good part was that someone else there cut my hair and it came out perfect. Will never go back to her. Keep your opinions to yourself and don't ignore your customer's requests just because YOU don't like something! read more

WORST HAIR CUT EVER. I was in the area and I needed just a quick hair trim and my bangs angled, something simple, so I had some time to kill I figgured I would walk in and try this NEW place out. They had a sign out front for $6.99 hiarcuts, which should have been a warning sign. I walked in and I said do you have time for a quick trim, and the girl (Becca) was nice, she was like I can help you right here, what can I do for you. I explained to her that I only wanted a trim just to clean up my split ends, I told her no more than an inch. She starts cutting and I see about 4 inches of hair fall to the ground and I was devestated, she was cutting all aggressivly and I was like I think that's short enough! and she was like, Well I have to even up the other side! So she contiunes cutting my hair very aggressivly and sloppy, but what was I supposed to do?! She starts cutting my bangs, and before I can stop her she cut them SO SHORT they do not even touch my eyebrow! They were all uneven, and at this point I had had enough, I said that I needed to go and she charged me the $7 dollar haircut, and the worst part is, i even tipped her because I work in a tip-payed job, so I felt bad. I immediately called my regular hair stylist crying, and told her what had happened, and I went to see her and have it fixed! Worst expierence ever, a trim does not mean 5 inches!! My hair is now so short I cannot style it how I would like, this girl sucks. Warning, you get what you pay for. I have 2 young boys who have very simple "boy" hair styles. I am still baffled as to how someone could mess up the cut so bad. Their hair looks like it was cut with dull clippers and absolutely no blending between clipper settings. Shaved on the top of the head, long around the bangs. These were the worst hair cuts I've ever seen. Thankfully, next day I brought them to a "real" salon and they didn't charge us to fix the mess that Great Clips created. I've been a customer at Great Clips in Westford almost since they've opened, but I absolutely cannot go back and recommend anyone who asks to go somewhere else. Before I explain the bads - I do want to say both Jill and Amanda are great - it's anytime I had anyone other than them that I had a problem - both of which were serious. In November of 2013 and mid October of this year (2014) I had two haircuts that were horrible. I'm not exaggerating - flat out embarrassed to leave with. In November of 2013, I explained what I wanted - as low as you can go on the sides and a fade with finger length on top. While cutting my hair, (I believe her name was Ashley) proceeded to run the clippers over the top of my head and I said "Whoa! What are you doing?" and she said she thought I wanted it shaved off... not even close... She did her best to try to make it evened out - but the top right side of my head was completely bald... this was the day before my fiancee and I were leaving for Jamaica where we were going to have an engagement photo shoot (because we had just gotten engaged a few weeks prior)... needless to say, we cancelled those plans and I wore a hat the whole time down there... Even worse, a few weeks ago I went in for a haircut because my fiancee and I had our actual Engagement Pictures that day and I wanted a fresh haircut for it. I sat down and told, I believe her name was Colleen, exactly what I wanted. She had me facing out the window for the first half and I commented how it was odd because I had never faced away from the mirror. She made a joke about how she had been facing the same way all day so I thought nothing of it. A good half hour later I was confused because it usually doesn't take that long to cut my hair... she turned the chair and my face dropped and my heart sank... It looked like I had a shaved head with a toupee... She could tell I was upset and had Jill and Ashley try to help - but there was no saving my hair... It was even worse than the last time. My Engagement pictures are all ruined, which cost A LOT of money to have, and now two weeks later my hair is grown in enough - but I'm honestly wearing a hat right now as I type this because I'm still embarrassed by it. My friends and family asked me what I did to my hair because they've seen some of the pictures. Today we got the album of our engagement pictures and again I'm obviously upset because they're almost all ruined by this mistake. I would like to speak with the owners to discuss these mistakes, but I'm honestly contemplating contacting an attorney because the photos we took were expensive and they are ruined. read more

On a professional level, I would not recommend this salon or even give it one star. By the end of my haircut I was almost in tears. My information was taken down, I asked for a wash and trim. I told Cortlyn that I have not had a haircut in a very long time and it was in poor shape. She was rough, not as gentle as I'm use to, and was rude, and kept repeating how dry my hair was, showing me how bad my split ends were, while she rushed through my haircut not taking the time or care to comfort me, only saying you poor thing. I got my hair layered and it didn't look even when I pulled my hair forward. She told me that your not suppose to pull your hair forward because it doesn't grow that way, and then mocked me by saying I'm going to pull my hair forward and cut it at home by myself from now on. half of my hair was cut off in order to "save it", the haircut still looks a little longer on one side. I didn't want to argue with her because she showed me the points by taking my hair and pulling it tight to each of my shoulders which kind of hurt, and she ripped my earring out in the process, so I had to get out of the chair and look for it. My overall experience was the worst I ever had walking-in to a salon. Im glad I only paid $25 with the 8 dollar tip I shouldn't have given her, I know she works off of commission, and thats how she makes a living. I'm not going to demand a refund, although I defiantly deserve one. read more
