But as someone who knows how hard it is to find the perfect salon, I knew it was important to let the community know about a little salon in Fairport. I have had the worst luck with salons in the past. I've never stayed in one place for longer than five years as an adult. The closest I got to that was the salon I went to in middle school and high school, where my mom and sister went as well. But that ended ten days before my high school graduation, where my request to have my hair "just dusting my shoulders" resulted in a chin length blunt bob that poofed out when dry, making me look like a mushroom wearing a graduation cap. As I was stylistically challenged (and still am, to a good extent), you can imagine how well this worked out for me. I bounced around from one fancy salon to the next in college, coming home on breaks for haircuts and not having any idea how to maintain my new look. I started going to Cuts International a solid two years before I moved back to Rochester, and I'm proud to say that it's my longest salon relationship ever. Ever since I started seeing Amelia for my hair needs, I have walked away happy and confident that I can replicate what was done to me during the styling process. Amelia is very intuitive and knows what will work for me and what won't. Last year I decided I wanted highlights to camouflage the increasing number of gray hairs and she helped me pick out a color that would look good against my dark hair and would mask the grays as best we could. Instead of the traditional foil method, she used a plastic hat to pull small strands through to ensure a natural look. While this was going on, I looked just like Gollum, if Gollum were waiting to rinse out his new highlights. Everyone at the salon is friendly and enthusiastic about their clients and what they can do. Whenever I have an appointment, it's like walking into a family reunion or happy hour at Cheers. I've never once felt like a transaction here, and I have definitely felt that way at other salons. Cuts International is not only a family salon, but one that really takes the idea of family to heart. Finally, where else can you get a fancy salon quality cut and style for $26? I used to pay twice as much for other salons in the past and I'm never going to go back. You can try to entice me with fancy furniture and decor and the privilege of saying I go to your salon, but it won't work. I'm sticking with Cuts International, where I know I can maintain my new look with my meager styling skills.

And definitely caught me by surprise. My husband got me a gift certificate for here so it was my first time. Jodie was the women who took care of me. And what a great experience it was. She was so pleasant and friendly. She did a great job on my highlights and cut. I'm very happy with the way that my hair turned out. Another thing that I found to be very pleasant was it was the owners birthday, and they bought them a cake, and shared with everyone. I thought that was such a nice gesture. The decor is very warm and welcoming. It overall was a great experience and I'll definitely be back to see Jodie!!

They were very busy already, but instead of just turning me away, tried their best to fit me in. Emily was delightful, and the space is adorable. They treated me well, and made me feel so comfortable. The shop has been open for 30 years, and it sounds like most of the staff have been together for some time. I was done quickly, but looked great and felt so much better about the day, even having overlapped with a color appointment. I can't praise the team enough for making time when they certainly did not have to, and for maintaining such a fun space!

I am a balding senior citizen, and therefore my cut really takes them all of 10 minutes. The shop is close to home and yes I was paying more than I should for my bald head with only needing the sides trimmed up. The convenience made it worthwhile. My last visit the price had increased again and the ownership has made it not worth my while for what I need as a haircut. I guess it's priced right for those that get all the fancy layering and fading in and all the sculpting. Not for my little buzzing. I feel bad about leaving but they need to do a better job of pricing cuts based on what is done. If they were to put in a senior citizen discounted price, I would return. For now off to Super Cuts where they do discount cuts like mine.

Typically they have a jewelry selection or purse selection too! It always rotates which is a treat!
