I didn't want to drive to Vancouver and so I went on online and found Splash. Nikki did a good job with my hair. She made some slight adjustment to it and she explained to me why before she started. She is very good with her job. The place is clean and location is not bad. The best part is that there are plenty of free parking. They are somewhat hidden. They are located beside one of the T&T entrance tucked away.

She never gave me a chance to actually tell her what I was looking for.

She gave me a cut and made sure I liked it before sending me off. However, she was trying to up sell me into a wash, curl, adding toner etc which I was not fond of. I said I wasn't interested and it got uncomfortable which I didn't like. Other than that though, the experience was good. I was in earlier (I arrived 15 minutes earlier than my scheduled appointment) and I was treated with good service.

When I went in the stylist asked me if I wanted a haircut also, I said no, just the toner please. She insisted that I needed a little trim on the bottom, and that she will only take off an inch off and it'll be a simply straight cut. So I said okay. After the toner and the quick trim... I went to the register to pay and was blown away to find out she charged me $35 for that quick trim... I payed $35 for the toner with an extra $35 for the trim she insisted on... with taxes it came up to $75 dollars, I still tipped $5, although I was unhappy and didn't want to... I walked out of there having spent $80, and she didn't even style or blow out my hair..... it was still wet at some parts The stylist should have told me at the time of suggesting the trim that it would cost $35 insisted of surprising me with it at the till later. I expressed my surprise at the extra amount to the owner, hoping she would come up with some solution, but nothing. Being surprised at the till with double what you expected to pay... and leaving with no style or blow out done to my hair is just bad service. Being a mother of two small kids I do not have time to style my hair at home, or to go to salon often for that matter. So having payed $80 I would expect my hair to be at least styled. I will not be going back there or recommending this place further.

There's been times I've wanted certain cuts or colors and Ingrid will tell you what works and what doesn't - I appreciate her honesty and insight in the whole process. They also stay up to date and do advanced classes. The salon itself is also a treat - love the luxury! Usually, the hairstylist would have wrapped my hair before they told me to sit up. She made me look bad and uncomfortable. I asked for layers and she did not give me a lot of layers. She said she would give me a little bit. That was not professional. The she tried to make my ends curly using the hair dryer and I told her I wanted my ends straight. She did not understand layers; she kept asking if I wanted thinner hair. I said no. She asked me twice if I wanted bands and I say no. Moreover, while she was cutting my hair, she let the hair fall onto my hands which could have been avoided. She did not put on the cape for me - she needed me to hand the other side to her instead of putting it on me. The service was terrible and she was indeed incompetent. Then she asked my sis, who was sitting beside me, "Is she okay?" I did not know why she said that; she was embarrassing me. When she finally stopped cutting, she looked at me with an anxious look and told me I could go back if there is any problem. She made me look bad with her exaggeration. In addition, she left a lot of the hair on my face after she finished cutting my hair - she only handed me the tissue box when I looked at the mirror and tried to wipe the hair off my face. Moreover, she and another hairstylist were chatting and looked at my sister with a weird gaze. That made her uncomfortable. When I tried to pay, the receptionist showed me a higher price after he knew that I was paying in cash. Why would they charge less if you are paying with credit/debit card? That was not right and he did not explain. Then the receptionist said, "No change? Tips?" after I tipped them. He was insulting. I think they knew that they should not treat customers this way and this was why they charged me $3 less. I was surprised when I saw the price but now I understand.
