My husband took my son here because it was on the way to Lowe's he skipped a perfectly good barber shop because it was $11 (someone made a comment that it was expensive) expecting a great clips to be cheaper and quicker was a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE idea!!! I wasn't there or I'd have demanded someone else fix it and my money back! 1st- they were more expensive for far less quality and care. $15 for my 7yr olds hair cut. Mind you his hair was already cut to style, it just needed a touch up fade and a top trim. *the lady was "fading" his hair with scissors... Who Does That?!? Even after my husband reminded her twice that he asked for a fade. *she cut herself with the scissors mid cut and kept going. *when he came home and I saw his head I (an unprofessional,untrained, inexperienced hair stylist) immediately said What happened to his head? Even the hair cuts I've done were 100x better. His hair cut was totally butchered. Noticeably terrible. He had random long strands hanging down over his ears, zero fade, the top was so incredibly uneven it was embarrassing. Choppy, with chucks missing, like she was trying to make it look textured but that was NOT asked for! NEVER AGAIN Great Clips has failed yet again. We all know this establishment is a joke, but honestly how can you be this bad? I just wanted a straight cut across nothing fancy, but apparently I was asking for too much. If you've never listened to a bad yelp review before listen to this one. While I was there they also butchered a man's fade horribly luckily he noticed before he left the parking lot I unfortunately did not. Unless you want your 10 year old looking like a new boot joining the Marine Corps, DO NOT take them to this salon!!! The woman who looks like she is in her late 30-40 cut his hair. We have been there before and reiterated that he likes his bangs longer. She said okay, I will use a 6! He started calling for me as I was looking at gel. I walked up and almost fell over- 100% buzzcut and cut right to the skin on the sides. His eyes were welled up with tears and trust me I wanted to cry. I apologized to him and said, "well Bud, I wish we could glue it back on," as he was saying he wants his hair back. She- instead of apologizing kept saying, "It's a summer cut..." Over and over- like a fool. My other son had his hair cut toooo short as well (next chair over and hates his too) but at least she left a whisper of bangs! Please, please, please don't risk it to get a quick haircut! I came in with a very simple request: shave this terrible, matted mop off of my head. This is the third time in my life I've gotten a buzz cut and I'm always looked at like I'm crazy. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the woman who cut my hair, but she was cool. She showed me to the chair and asked me what I wanted done. I said, "Let's go with a three and work towards a one if needed." She hesitated at first, but I think she could tell this wasn't my first time since I came in knowing how short I wanted it. Took about 10-15 minutes to cut off all of my hair. She kept asking me questions like how I worked up the nerve and how excited I would be to be able to get up and go, remarking how brave I was to cut off my hair, but slowly coming to the realization that it's just hair and that it'll eventually grow back. I don't know if she was making conversation or if she was truly amazed by my decision, but I enjoyed the questioning and the talk. Took my mind off of the fact that I would have to show my almost bald head to my mother in a few minutes. Got a cut and shampoo for $19. Not bad. New year, new do, new me! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. My sons hair is choppy uneven and straight up sloppy. In this economy I would have done a better job at home than actually taking him a place of business that is supposed to give actual haircuts. My son is two years old, he can sit pretty well and has even had his hair buzz faded on the sides. The stylist was rushing and took no more than five minutes with us. read more

I love this place! Just like anywhere you're going to get a haircut, once they know what you want the results are very reproducible. I've always been able to park directly in front of the salon, and everyone has been friendly. Lots of magazines to kill time if you happen to catch them during a rush, but download the Great Clips app and you can check yourself in on your way to the store. There's a Harris Teeter a few shops down, so take advantage. Prices are great for the quality cut you receive, and the online/email coupons are pretty frequent. Don't forget to tip! read more

I have tried twice to get my hair cut at this place. The first time I walked in and they told me that I should have checked in online. I decided to stay and wait. I sat for a long while. Their were stylists not doing anything, but told me people had already checked in on line so they couldn't start me. I left. The second time was yesterday. I parked right in front of the shop and checked in online. The site read 25 minute wait. When it got to 1 minute, I went in. The person at the desk asked me if I checked in online and I said yes. She asked me my name then said you have a 48 minute wait. I showed her my phone which indicated 1 minute. She said we don't go by that we go by this and showed me a screen with my name second on the list with a 48 minute wait! Something is terribly screwed up at that place! Jason also has the best attitude in that place because he never judges and knows alot of information about hair. Absolute last time I go here. A few of the staff give decent hair cuts but the majority are terrible. It's a complete crap shoot whether you get a decent hair cut or not. I live out of state, and during a visit to Mom, who has Alzheimers Disease, I saw she was overdue for a haircut. Her regular hairdresser was not available during my visit and we were going to Harris Teeter, so I took Mom to the nearby Great Clips on my aunt's recommendation. I was apprehensive about how Mom would react to someone she wasn't accustomed to. Jason greeted us when we entered, so I explained the situation to him. He was wonderful with Mom. He spoke to her gently and with respect, making her feel very comfortable. Because I didn't want someone new putting her through all that a shampoo requires, he misted her naturally curly hair and gently combed it, then carefully cut it and blew it dry, using his fingers to style it. She was happy; I was greatly relieved. Mary, another stylist, helped Mom get out of the chair safely and walked her to the door while I gathered our things, also treating Mom with great care and respect. It was an excellent experience.
