This place is perfect for a trim. I had the pleasure of getting a cut by Hollie today and was very pleased with the result. She was personable and did such a nice job. She took her time making sure I got exactly what I wanted. The place was packed but I felt like wasn't rushed through. I highly recommend this location and Hollie. My second trip to Great Clips on Galleria Pkwy. in Sparks and my second positive experience. A very nice lady named Pilar took great care of me and gave me a very nice haircut. They did have notes on file regarding the cut I received the last time I came in, so they were very prepared to give me the look I wanted. Pilar is a very good communicator and it was a pleasure to talk to her during the process. The price is great, the service is great, I don't know what else you need. Great Clips meets my hair needs so well. I have basic brown hair with bangs. I don't get special joy from going to the salon, so I want my hair care interactions to be quick and easy. This Great Clips location does a great job keeping my layers fresh and trimming my bangs. I decide the day of that I want to get my hair cut and I sign into the app to secure my place in line. When it tells me I'm up soon, I head over, and I've never had to wait in the store more than 5 minutes to get in the chair. 15 minutes max later, my hurr is did. I've been going here for multiple years, so the stylists seem to remember me. They keep good notes in their system about folks' preferences. My most important preference is minimal small talk: imma close my eyes and get my zen on. But I also really appreciate that the stylists remember that I also love the constructive tough love, like noting that they can tell that I use more heating tools on one side of my head than the other (I *do* have a dominant hand), with the gentle reminder to use heat protectant spray especially on that side. Great Clips is so affordable, it gets the job done, and the stylists are friendly. Win win win. read more

Stopped in about 3 years ago and it was a terrible haircut. Two weeks ago I was close and figured things may be better. It was worst. I never had such a bad haircut in my life. Now I have hair sticking out everywhere, it refuses to lay down after brushing. The lady did not follow what it says on the record of how to cut it. My husband got a haircut, or more to the point got scalped, here today, the person shaved his head an inch above his hairline and shaved the back of his head so close he's a speck above being bald. Do these people even have a license and did they even go to school? Obviously they graduated bottom of their class! There is no excuse for this period. They should be ashamed. This was the second Great Location I've tried and much like the Fernley store, I wasn't disappointed with my haircut or the customer service. Normally, in Sparks, I go to Sport Clips but the wait was way too long. I was able to get in here within a reasonable amount of time. I stopped by to get my 3 year olds hair cut today. With the new State of Nevada directives, and being completely vaccinated, we left our masks at home. When we arrived, a stylist (who was in the middle of a haircut) hustled over to the front with an attitude and accosted us over not wearing masks. She did not attempt to politely speak about their policy regardless of state directives or have a civil conversation about it. She left a man, with half cut hair, sitting in her chair when she saw the opportunity to be the nasty, argumentative, type of mask police. Disgusting stylists with disgusting attitudes... I'd rather take my toddler to a NV State Prison to get his hair cut than sit with these type of people for even 3 minutes. Despicable behavior. read more

UPDATE: Michelle the General Manager called me for a follow up. I explained why I was so upset with both haircuts. She offered to refund my money and asked me to come in so she could fix my hair. I was hesitant but decided to go in. Michelle did fix the problem. And I now have a short bob. The customer service was never in question and Michelle held up that same standard that they've always had. Which is excellent customer service. I'm still very upset that all my hair had to be cut off to fix the problem. But hair grows and at least I don't have a mullet. I spent the entire day yesterday bawling my eyes out because of the hack job that they did on my hair. The first store I went to was in Sparks on galleria and the layers I got were awful. Looked like shelves in the back of my head. Then I go get it fixed at the one in Northwest Reno and they do just as bad of a job and give me a mullet. Now I have to go spend even more money to get this hack job fixed. I've been going to this place for the last eight years. My entire family has. And never have I ever experienced anything like this. We will never go back to this place. EVER. And I do not recommend anyone go unless they like having horrible hair. They used to higher-quality professional stylist. Great Clips is fantastic. These days you can check-in online to pretty much anywhere. Great Clips has an amazing online check-in service so you never have to wait to get a reasonably priced cut. Even if I forget to check-in online, I still never have to wait long. I usually get my hair cut by Kendall or Lacy. I have a normal short haircut. I don't use products or style in any way, and they are totally cool with it. They are great conversationalists, which is really important in a barber. But also, if i've had a long day and don't feel like talking too much, they are really respectful about it. read more

So I went into this location on Saturday the 19th and for the first time I had a bad experience. I have been going to different Great Clip locations around Reno/Sparks since I moved here in 08. For the most part I have always had great experiences but this last one was the pits. First of the young man that did my cut seemed to be in a hurry he kinda manhandled me while he moved my head into position. He would jam the clippers into my hair as if in a rush. But what really got me writing this is my side burns he asked me where I wanted them. And he cut one up high and left the other side about an inch longer. Of course while wearing a mask I couldn't tell. Wasn't into I was home and took off my mask that I was able to see it and I had to fix it myself. I will still continue to go to Great Clips but at other locations for sure. read more

Not Impressed. I asked for about 1/4 cut on top- just the ends and she cut 3/4 to 1 inch. A professional would have first asked again as she raised the hair before cutting. Looks like the young generation has never seen a ruler or is aware of what 1/4 inch looks like. Great Clips is best described as Average Hacks. My husband just went to Great Clips about 15 minutes ago. He was too upset to say anything at the time of service, but his cut was awful! The lady worked hastily and rough. Scratched his ear when trimming his neck! The cut was so uneven. And when she was done, she flipped up the cape flinging hair all over him! He came home and had to use clippers to even out his hair. He shouldnt have had to come home and cut his own hair to fix it after having paid for a cut! read more

I have to be honest, I have been here many, many times to get my son's hair cut. I don't typically do the online check in but today, I did. I am not sure why though because the wait was 20 mins longer than the online site said that it was going to be. It makes no sense why a place like this does not staff appropriately. If I wanted to wait 40 mins, I would go somewhere with much more experience than this. The hairdressers have zero personality and don't interact with children very well. I have very difficult hair to cut because it is very thick and I have some crazy growth patterns so finding a person that can cut my hair is always a challenge. When I moved to Reno it took me over a year to find the right person and was traveling back to San Jose regularly to the woman that cut my hair for many years to "fix" the bad haircuts. I found Jen (manager of this location) when she was at the Double Diamond location (5 mins from my house) and she has been the only person to touch my hair for the past 3 years. When she took the job to manage the is location I was bummed because it's about 25 minute drive each way.. but I do the trek every 4 weeks because she always cuts my hair perfectly. My husbands overall experience with place was terrible from the moment he walked in all the way to the check out process. He walked in and had already checked in online, he let them know he had checked in and they started booking him an appointment. It's obvious that they just didn't care enough from the start to listen whatsoever. Once they started the hair cut she was very rough and rushing through the appointment. When she removed one string from the mask away from his ear to trim it she missed the hairs above his ear and then snapped the mask back on his face, and then repeated it on the other side. Upon check out he gave them his card for the 10.99 promotion and she tried to charge him 20 dollars. He had to tell her twice that he had the promotional card and to ring him out correctly. He came home and had to spend an additional 30 minutes fixing the half ass job himself. This is the only bad experience he has ever had at this location. It was today 2/4/22 in the first chair. She needs to be retrained how to treat customers as well as how to give a decent hair cut. read more

I went a couple of months ago - first time at this particular Great Clip. The gal was pleasant. I brought a picture and she said no problem. After my cut I went home to wash and blow dry and the cut was nothing like the picture and she supposedly had over 16 years experience. I waited until it grew out and went back 1/18/2020. This is a clean property. The stylists are professional. I'd like to give a shot out to one stylist in particular. Kerlyn is a very good stylist. When Kerlyn cuts your hair, you get an excellent cut. However, because Kerlyn works a little slowly, she sees less customers, therefore she receives less in tips. If you have a little extra time, ask for Kerlyn at the Great Clips Sparks Galleria. And if you are pleased with your cut, please give this darling girl a healthy tip. My husband and son went in for a haircut and were greeted by a girl named Ashley with purple hair, and track marks all over her arms. Wow, what a great example! So, my son sits down first for his haircut and she is barking commands at him as if he were an animal. Needless to say, my husband paid $30 for both of their haircuts, and still had to go home and fix them because there were long patches everywhere. NOT RECOMMENDED! BUYER BEWARE! Took my son in for a trim after growing out his hair all summer and I told her we want to keep the length and was very specific she ended up cutting off basically all of his hair, it's UNEVEN and patchy.
