I've found the best of the best. Terry is fabulous! I used to drive to Seattle monthly to get my short hair cut, and paid twice what I pay at Great Clips. Not everyone can cut short hair, but Terry knows intuitively what to do. She recently cut 8 inches off and I have a new look that makes me happy. She takes her time so that she's pleased with her work, too. She's a win-win. It's a casual walk-in salon. Yet, locals usually make an appointment so they don't need to wait too long. I have been going to this location for quite a few years. I've been through navy barbershops, local barbers and salons on the other side of the bridge. While five stars is subjective as I couldn't compare this shop to a fancier but also much more expensive clipping, you won't find a better value, with a great online check-in service and some of the friendliest stylists I've worked with. I tried a couple other local options before landing here but I get a consistently good haircut. I didn't read through some of the negative reviews thoroughly but if you're looking for a nice hair cut, at a great value from super people, this place will work well for you. If you have super high expectations or a complicated style, maybe a more fashion focused salon would serve you better. Communication is key, there is always some turnover at these types of places so if you don't work with the same person frequently, make sure you know what you want and if you have any comments, discuss them as you go or beforehand. Absolutely loved Ana!! Will definitely ask for her again! I wear glasses and she made sure to ask me how the lengths were periodically since I can't see and always asked for my feedback. I will be making this a 5 star review because of you! My poor dad wasn't as lucky though and got Terry. He will not be asking for her again. Welp my daughter left there crying. They chopped the eff out of her beautiful hair. She wanted maybe 4" off they took double that. I can't undo it for her so I'm leaving a review. My special needs child loves to get his hair cut at our local Great Clips salon, but the experience this last weekend was abusive and unjustified. My family visited your Port Orchard location just before 1pm on Saturday, December 16, 2023, where his stylist Su gave him an intentionally bad haircut that I was still charged for. Su only spent 4 to 5 minutes to perform the service before claiming it was finished. Prior to my sons turn, my wife and I witnessed Su rejecting another lady's hair cut, claiming she could not cut curly hair. She then cut a little boy's hair while taking enough time to give him an acceptable haircut. When it was my sons turn, she was visibly annoyed, questioning the type of style we wanted for our child and rolled her eye like it was an inconvenience. We requested a number 1 fade on the sides with finger length on the top. My son sat and asked her some innocent questions, and this seemed to make her annoyed and shamelessly bold. She told him not to talk to her so that she could cut his hair. After observing this behavior, I went and sat down in the chair adjacent to them. Su was rushing to finish while saying aggressively. "If you don't stop twitching, it's not my fault if this is bad," about 4 or 5 times. Horrified about her behavior I failed to intervene before she spun the chair around, ripped off the cape and said, "get out of the chair, if you won't stop twitching then this is what you get". Her behavior and performance were an issue. I requested my wife to review the results. Her inspection noted that the haircut was extremely patchy and choppy with spots that were completely missed by the clippers. There was no fade. When we questioned the appearance of his haircut, she then started to cause a scene by yelling, " I told him not to talk, and he wouldn't stop saying my name. He was twitching, and I told him this was his fault. I have been cutting hair for four hours. It's not my fault. It's his fault." At this point, I tried to explain to her that by slowing down and showing a little patience, she could finish the haircut. As stated before, he was only in her chair for a maximum of 4-5 minutes. We just wanted to be able to leave with my son having at least a decent haircut. She was refusing to try and pointing her finger at my son while claiming it was his fault. My son, at this point, was confused about what was happening and didn't understand why she was so resentful towards him. Another stylist came and tried to intervene to assess the situation. Su frantically tried to justify her actions. The second stylist tried to ask me questions, but Su was interrupting. I told the second stylist that I would share my concerns if Su agreed to stop speaking over me. Su walked off and went to the back room, slamming the door. From here, I was able to show the second stylist my child's hair, and she agreed this was not the quality to expect from great clips. The second stylist showed some professionalism and managed to almost fix my child's hair. We never received an apology, and the second stylist just kept saying this just seems to be a misunderstanding. This was not a misunderstanding, but we feel that this was discrimination against our disabled child. We did explain our child's disability. He was very compliant based on his ability, and his behavior was very manageable. Cutting his hair was attainable. We are requesting a response to this e-mail. The follow-up with the manager was another horrible example of professionalism. Basically, blaming my son and standing up for the stylist. We set up a time for a refund, but I never showed up because I was so disappointed in the situation. I guess I paid 25 bucks to learn that I needed to just cut it myself. Note: My other son's haircut was completed by Grim, and he was very pleased with the results. He was very disappointed that someone had the audacity to treat his brother this way. read more

It was so easy cut but she did horrible. I just wanted a straight haircut and the girl didn't wet my hair, she did everything bad. She cut my hair in literally 3 min and so so bad, I can explain how bad it was. I really want to cry after see that at home. This cut supposed to be straight. read more

Seriously love this place! Atticus my older kid used to be so afraid of getting his haircut at other places and here it's like family. Everyone has an amazing personality even if it's been a rough day. Every stylist is kind and loving. Today we had two amazing women who were wonderful to my boys! There were no tears shed no screaming nothing they just sat there. Obviously my boys felt very comfortable with these women which made me smile. Always a clean environment. Waiting time was excellent compared to other places... and now we know why. Husband had worst hair cut he's ever had. He said the stylist did not listen to any of his instructions and just clipped away as she desired, resulting in a cut that can only be corrected by shaving his head clean and start from bald or waiting for months for it to grow out so that someone else can fix it. After he shook out his newly cut hair and finger combed it to lay back to his natural part it was obviously uneven, with stray, odd-ball longer hairs sticking out in random places that she missed trimming up. No professional stylist's eye would have missed those, and also, his sideburns were clearly crooked & unevenly cut as well. All he left with was less hair and lighter wallet. They had also increased their rates to twenty dollars for a dry adult men's haircut (no shampoo or styling products). He will not be going back, nor will I. -------------------------------------- FYI: Different stylist than hubby had, but my last haircut at the same location back in 2021 was also not what I had asked for () and shorter than I'd requested. Fortunately, it looked professionally cut and the style was like out of a magazine, but was even close to what I'd asked for. I've since let it grow out and will return to cutting my own hair. I'd cut my own for decades, but started going in out of convenience, until more recently. Now I think it will be worth the bit of effort again to do it myself so I can get what I want. Great clips is my go to for haircuts. I like the no reservation walk in style, and their haircuts are relatively inexpensive ($22 for an adult haircut). I'm most always in to get my split ends managed and I have yet to be disappointed. Great Clips has also updated their app with some very useful features. If you're planning on a haircut use the online check in because it could save you some time. read more

Despite negative reviews, I had Anne do my hair today and she did a really good job with it. I wanted shorter hair with layers and she got the job done. I walked in without checking in on the app or anything around 10 am Monday, so it wasnt busy. receptionist was very friendly and welcomed me right away. Anne took care of me, i showed her what i wanted and she went right to work focusing on layers and length. The end result is just what i wanted! shorter with layers. i included a before and after last minute in my car for reference. im very grateful and WILL BE BACK!! they got my business. thankyou! read more

I am SO done with Great Clips. First, I'll say that in the past I was always pleased with them. HOWEVER, today at 8:45 AM, I checked in online-had a short wait time, Raced to their location to find the door locked & lights off, with a hand written sign "Hey Everyone! We open on Fridays at 2 PM", (Note that the Hours Printed on the door say 10AM for all days). So when I got home, I called to leave a message on their answering machine that maybe they should update their hours online to match their door. The person that ANSWERED the phone, Insisted that I was not telling the truth & that she had been there since 8AM. My phone for some reason won't save photos, so my daughter drove down to take a photo--Don't you know the hand-written sign was gone and lights were on-a matter of 20 minutes after I was there. I will NEVER Darken the Door of a Great Clips again! You just don't call a customer a liar and then CYA. I'd leave a NO Stars if I could. read more

She then proceeded to take me back even though it said there was a 45 minute wait. I doubt she even took 10 minutes to cut my hair and though it wasn't exactly what I wanted, I left a tip. This place sucks. There's no other way to put it. When she got done, I look like I just step out of the shower. I had to comb my own hair to finish the hair cut. I've been skeptical about going here I thought when I walked in it was just for men. I have very thick hair so the stylist wanted to rinse my hair so it would be wet for the cut. The drain must have been clogged cause my hair was soaking wet when I got back to the chair making my shirt all wet underneath. As having thick hair when she cut it, it shrunk A LOT when she blew it dry after she already cut it. Not having a flat iron either I looked like I stepped out of an 80s music video when I left. I do like the cut now because I needed to get some of the weight off. But it is also above my shoulders now when it was boob length and I asked for a long A line cut. So be forewarned I believe this is a place for a quick trim not for all the fixings. read more

This place is so sketchy. One of the ladies cut my hair unevenly and when I told her what I wanted she looked at me like "huh" and said "what's that?" She didn't give me any suggestions she just straight up chopped it off without framing my face or nothing, now when I put my hair in a pony tail it's so uneven and it looks like someone cutting their hair at home... I really wouldn't recommend.. this isn't the first time because I took my mom to get her hair cut and she showed a picture and everything and explained what she wanted and they left one piece of hair uneven and the back of it was messy.. so so upset read more

I feel like I needed to write an updated review. It's been a year since we have been back but we decided to give it another go today. I am happy to say that it was actually really enjoyable. My son hates having his hair cut, but Brandi's patience and understanding as well as the other nice woman (I didn't get her name) who came over to help keep him occupied, made it a more pleasant experience. I was very happy with the haircut this time around too. At the end I was even surprised to find out that I still had my free haircut waiting from the prior visit which I didn't expect at all. I'm not sure if it was the luck of the draw today but everyone we encountered was very nice and we will return. I will most likely be requesting Brandi from now on or that other nice woman that helped as well. read more

My hairstylist cut my hair at least 2 inches shorter than I asked for. She was in to big of a hurry, she didn't seem to want to take the time to do it right. My hair is way shorter than I like or wanted. Been going here a long time, first time I have been VERY disappointed in my haircut. On the other hand, the gal that did my daughters hair was wonderful! She took her time and made sure it was right. Also, with a $60 total, they did not have change for a $100 bill and I had to go to the store next door to get change. VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT THAT!! Asked for a jaw length bob. A very basic haircut. Walked out with a messed up pixie. My husband says it looks like an bowl haircut. Called and told the manager, they wouldn't do anything. I went out bought a hat. 2 months later at a different salon, stylist there was shocked. Last year we went to this establishment, we were verbally attacked here for no reason. My partner and I walked in to get him a haircut. There were no problems other than some slight miscommunication about raising the back hairline. However, once he asked if each side was cut evenly (since his hair is naturally curly) all hell broke loose. One of the hair stylists, an old cranky woman who wasn't even the one cutting his hair, began snapping at him (and adding me into even though I was quietly sitting away from the whole thing playing pokemon). She began saying things like "why do you even come here" and many other severely rude accusations and comments. She decided to kick us out the door without payment...All because he wanted to make sure his hair was even. We weren't even frequent customers. I had been growing my hair out for the past year and a half, and he went to get his cut rarely. We're both quiet mannered individuals with no history of fighting with any of the stylists there. This place is beyond terrible. The customer service is appalling. We're not the only ones they were rude to, the guy ahead of us, after he left, all they did was gossip rudely about him. I wish I could give this place no stars at all. You can't go much lower than this. The stylist was very unprofessional. She insulted my appearance and my intelligence, even going as far as to insult the clothing I was wearing. Watch out for the stylist with the bad pink haircut. She told me that because of the way I look, I probably wasn't in a job that requires precision. But the funny thing is, the way she cuts hair, I could assume the same thing about her. In case you are just in need of a quick reference, I will sum up the details below by saying extremely rude, and inept. The two ladies (Lori and the one in the booth to her right with purple tinted hair) should not be in a profession that requires them to work directly with customers. This review is so long because so much went wrong. It went from awkward, to rude, to just plain crossing the line. I came to get hair cuts for two of my children. When I walked in a young man asked for the kids' names to look up the account. (I never did understand why this information is kept, but I know to expect it.) I couldn't remember if it was my cell or home phone number the account was linked to, and this apparently caused a stir so one of the stylists (purple hair) came over to the counter to watch. Then when I gave the young man the name of my second child the fact that he has a different last name caused an additional kerfuffle, and two more stylists came over to look at the computer screen. Then purple hair lady, seemed frustrated and got a piece of paper and pen and asked me to just give all my kids names "so we don't have to deal with this again". Not in a sorry-about-this-confusion kind of way, but in a way to let me know she was put out. In hind sight, maybe I should have taken this as a sign of things to come, but I had a list of errands to do, and I just wanted to check 'get kids hair cut' off of it. I walked my son to a chair first. When 'Purple hair' asked what I would like, I said to trim it so it was above his ears, straight across the back, and a few inches off the top. She replies with "So, a scissor cut then?" like it is offensive to her that I don't know the correct terminology. When it was my daughter's turn I took her back to Lori's chair and said that I would like her hair thinned. (Her hair is very thick, and we get it thinned before summer.) At this point, Lori get's 'purple hair's' attention and tells her I want it thinned in an inflection that makes it sound like a question. Purple hair starts telling me that it isn't good for her hair, and that I shouldn't be thinning it every time I get her hair cut. (Which I don't, but she didn't ask.) And she starts pointing to my daughters head to better show me where her hair is damaged. My daughter is nine, probably besides the point since no one needs a group of people focusing on your 'damaged areas'. When I told her that we always get it done once before every summer, she said it was her job to educate me. I was frustrated at this point and just asked Lori to trim the bottom and even it out then. Lori did trim it, but I don't believe she knows how to work with thick hair because it is so chopped and chunked that it isn't straight at all. When my son's hair was finished I was called over, and she picked up the comb she had used to show me that it had a couple dry skin flakes on it. She then proceeded to tell me that I needed to brush my son's hair EVERY day, and that it probably wasn't being rinsed properly either. Adding that it was likely that I assumed since he was a boy that he didn't need grooming every day. Excuse me! My son is 7, and he happens to have a dry scalp. Even IF my kids showed up in clothes they wore that whole week, she has no right to tell me how to 'groom' my kids. read more

The lady that cut my hair today was wonderful. My issue is the rude brunette that opens the salon. She is always very rude. But today 11/6/15 she took rude to a whole new level. Store signs says it opens at 9 am but she wanted me to wait outside until 9:05 am because she wasn't ready for customers and that is how long it takes the computer to set up. Then she left the salon with customers waiting, to go get coffee. Then came back went into the back room and made herself something to eat in the microwave. I could see everything in the mirror. Then after eating came out and helped the other two ladies that were cutting hair. I'm not surprised that people don't give her tips. I heard her complaining about that last week when I took my son in to get his hair cut. read more
