I loved Helen at Fab U Look. I am pretty simplistic about doing my hair, but because I am, I had no clue how to take care of it or what would be a good hair cut for my hair type and face shape. All I knew was that my hair was pretty damaged and something had to be done. So I contacted Helen and we set up a consultation. Her shop had only one chair which was nice and I was the only client. I didn't feel lost or forgotten like I do in large salons where my past stylists would walk off to talk with other customers or coworkers. Helen didn't rush me but listened to all my concerns, and we talked through every idea and decision until we settled on something I was happy with and that would be the best idea for my hair (I came to the appointment with several hair cut ideas because I knew my hair was severely damaged and I wasn't sure which idea would work best with my hair type). While she cut my hair, Helen taught me easy steps to take care of my scalp and hair so that damage to my hair gets minimized but also doesn't take up too much of my time. As she cut, Helen tailored the style to suit my face and then taught me super easy styling techniques that wouldn't add too much time to my morning routine if I choose to style my hair. I went in to get my daughter's hair permed. She promised us our appointment time would be from 1:00pm to no later than 4pm. We were there for almost 10 hours! Absolutely ridiculous! We were tired, hungry, and extremely disappointed in the end result after all the time Helen spent dilly-dallying with mindless chatter and trying to sell us more and more services. My daughter's hair looks nothing like what she promised. She was not very confident. After she had already gotten started cutting my daughter's hair, she admitted that she had not done a perm in a while and was very unorganized with what products/items she wanted to use next. I hate to give bad reviews, but she charged us $425 for a messed up perm after 10 hours of waiting endlessly in her salon. $200 for a perm, and we ended up getting charged more than double. This was already well over-priced! I believe she was wasting time on mindless chatter on purpose to charge us even more money when no services had yet to be rendered. I am very disappointed, and I will never go back! read more

I have never met anyone that has ever went above and beyond for me like Helen did. After being turned away from another salon with having an app there and being treated so badly I was almost in tears when I found Helen and she was so kind and caring and really listen to what I wanted and did everything she could to make that wish come true for me. I've been bragging about Helen to everyone today about how special she is and what miracle she did on my hair. She has so many great suggestions on how to better my skin and really care about my hair, where as most salons you go to they don't care what happens to your hair after you leave their salon. I am not sure I can say enough good things about Helen and the skills she has. She took great time to look at my virgin hair and see the natural colors to decide what products would yield my desired result. I hardly knew how to ask for what I wanted and she provided exactly what I didn't know how to describe. She also fixed my old hack job layers into natural layers. She was very good at listening to me ramble about what I did and did not like, and she managed to make my hair look better than I had thought could be done . The atmosphere in her salon and the presence she fills it with made me feel right at home. We talked while she fliped and painted on my hair. She made time for me to fit what little time I had avalible, not once making me feel like I was being rushed or inconveniencing her. I am so very thankful. i went in with black hair and asked her if she could do something like a platinum. she used an organic product on my hair so it wouldn't damage it more than it was. it wasn't light enough so she rinsed it out and used a lightening shampoo and conditioner that lightened it up just a little bit. she also bleached my hair to get more of the black out. this lady did everything she could to get the color out of my hair. she is absolutely amazing at what she does. she is very kind and respectful not to mention funny. i loved every bit of time i spent with her in the salon. and i appreciate all the work she has done for my hair. i would recommend her to everyone. she will do anything for your hair. i will be coming back :) i want to note that she does take a long time and it's a long process you would have to have a lot of patience and time. read more

I have coarse, frizzy, wavy hair and a lot of it! I have ALWAYS had trouble finding a salonist who can cut my hair but not anymore! On my first visit, I requested that Helen cut my hair in its natural state, and on the second visit she flat ironed it first and then cut. Both were great cuts! Helen does NOT rush her good work. Both times, she paused in between the cut to make sure I was comfortable with how much hair she was cutting off because I like to wear my hair long. My hair has often felt heavy but after seeing Helen feels much lighter. In my past experiences, I've encountered some stylists who aren't skilled in taking off the volume from curly hair while maintaining the long length. Helen is an expert in her field! read more

I've seen Helen 3 times over the span of 2 years. She has been wonderful everytime! The first time, I had a gotten an ear piercing the day before, once I had told her, she was very cautious and careful not to hurt my ear. I have a unique allergy to citrus fruit. Many hair and skin care products have citrus fruits. I told Helen of my allergy and she was shocked, as everyone is at first, but then was again nicely cautious about the products she was using. Helen was awesome. She was available by appointment on a Sunday when the salon was closed. Getting their hair and nails done was all the girls wanted for their birthday and it started to look like it wasn't going to happen because no salons were open on Sunday, I couldn't believe Helen really did it. Not only that, but she was friendly and excited about their birthday, she was not at all hurried and didn't at all seem to mind being there on the weekend. Pure Genius!!! I will drive anywhere to see Helen. I have been her client for several years now, and since the first time I had my hair cut and colored by her, people have continually stopped me and asked me where I get my hair done! Complete strangers walk up to me on a regular basis and give me compliments on my cut and especially my color! Helen has over 20 years experience in hair and beauty. She befriends all of her customers and makes them feel at home and comfortable. She is worth every penny on her posted price list and more - but her talent is priceless. If you want a cheap cut go elsewhere - it will look like a cheap cut, you will get cheap products, and be rushed out the door. Obviously an anonymous competitor is trying to smear her reputation. AMAZING JOB by Helen she is such a sweetheart and is really detailed and precise. I have never really got a haircut and color like I did with her and I love it. She came in on her day off just so my hair could get done. It took well over 7 hours to do my hair colors (7) of them and then to cut and style. She also did my eyebrows for me. She has music playing that you chose and there is no distractions. I am for sure going to be a return customer for a long long time. By far the BEST hair salon/stylist in Port Orchard! I have been to several places and they don't deliver like Helen does. Helen does a amazing job. She has been doing my hair for years. Yes she is a little more expensive but you pay for quality. I can go 6 months in between colors because of the products she uses which saves me the most. Before going to her I would have to do every 6 weeks touch up.
