This is my second time here. I requested Alina, who did an amazing job the first time I came here. The first time, I donated my hair to Locks of Love and they cut my hair for free. They give you a paper to mail in with your donation (you get the envelope and mail it yourself). This time, I could not wait to grow my hair out, so I went in to have it cut. I showed Alina a picture on my phone of what I would like and she cut it exactly as I asked. I am very happy with my haircut and would recommend Alina or the other stylist as both were attentive and listened to what their clients wanted. read more

I'm updating my original review from three years ago and reducing to one star. Due to recent management changes, I will no longer be a patron at this Great Clips. New management let go long-time stylist, Anselmo, who had a good customer base and knew how to treat and respect customers. He was at this establishment for 10 years. The new management is not respective of waiting customers and the store is now essentially run by a rude and clueless girl (my experience when I last called the store). I had many, many check-ins at this Great Clips and was a steady customer because of Anselmo's presence. Management's ignorance has lost this customer and several others over Anselmo's departure. I will also be communicating to Great Clips Corporate about this change at the store. This Great Clips is not great and it's because of the management. read more

Normally I would give this place a solid 4 stars, but my most recent experience on May 15 should be a negative star. DO NOT have Anselmo cut hair. He does not know how to fade, and he is rude. I took my 7 year old autistic son to get his haircut right when they opened yesterday. My son has high functioning autism, so he is able to function normally in society. But he is afraid of the water bottle being sprayed at him due to sensory issues. We are the first ones in the store when they opened at 10 and Anselmo greets us. Checking in was quick and he said he would be the one to cut my sons hair. My normal lady is there but she is busy re-stocking items and unavailable. Anselmo looks at my sons previous trip and states "so the 1 on the side and an inch off the top?" I said yes and he proceeds to cut his hair. He cuts his hair where it looks like it's going to be a high fade (military look) but does not complete the fade. It looks like a Step. I'm waiting for him to fix it where it blends better like a Fade. My wife is sitting down with the same confused look "are you going to fix the fade?" Anselmo doesn't even answer; he's still cutting away. I tell him to "fix the fade". So Anselmo starts giving an attitude by saying "I can't have the two of you tell me two different things". I'm like "no we are not disagreeing with each other. Do you know what a fade is?" He tries to fix it and starts spraying water on my sons head (which I told him to not do!) and my son squirms. No apology from him. Took him nearly 30 minutes to cut my sons hair. He finishes, did a horrible job in which I take my son home and tried to fix it with hair scissors. Again; I go here and the ladies do a great job. Ask for Jackie. But Anselmo does not know what he is doing. Plus the attitude he gives when you ask him to fix it. Seriously, Great Clips, train this guy better. read more

Well, I lost my long time stylist! Now, in search of my next personal stylist. Most of my barbers/hairstylists have been small local shops. I never considered using a franchise company. I did not want to demean my hair by going to SuperCuts, but I wanted to try a smaller chain. With the help of Yelp, I discovered Great Clips in Northridge. Located on the northeast corner of Reseda and Nordhoff on the shopping center near to California Chicken Cafe, you'll find a small store filled in by Great Clips. When I checked in via Yelp App, I got a $2 off Discount, but I didn't use it. I wanted to pay full price first before taking advantage of the discount. I was greeted by the Store Manager. He inputted my name & information into the computer. I forgot that the barber/hairstyling industry went digital. Next thing you know, I get an instant haircut. My personal hairstylist was assigned to me and it would be a start to a wonderful relationship. My hairstylist's name is Jessica. I showed her a picture of what I was looking for and she knows want I want to look like for 2014. So, Jessica will be my next stylist. I won't explain my hairstyle, but sure will be a game changer for Ryan. The charge for the haircut is $13, but that was very reasonable. Its up to you if you want to use your Yelp App for the $2 discount. I've had my barber/stylist for many years, but now I will have to make memories with my new stylist, Jessica. I'm pretty bad with maintaining my own hair - I tend to only cut it seriously once a year. I know this is bad, but I'm just a wash & wear kinda mode right now. Great Clips January 23 2015 My first experience in Great Clips was a disaster. The side burn were uneven, a cut on the back of the neck, and the top looked like if a eight year old cut it. I decided to give it a second chance with a different worker. Michelle Fierro did a superb job. She was sooth with the clips and put attention to detail. Her service was complete. She tried to initiate conversation to keep me entertained. The process was pleasing and the end results were better. Even though they were five minutes to closing time they took me in with a smile in their face and did a great job. Based on this service I will come back and maybe be a regular. read more

I came here with my boyfriend who checked in online. He's a regular at a different Great Clips location so he checked in online as usual. She asked him if he wanted it blended on both sides, and he said only the right side for his combover hairstyle...so then she proceeds to shave his WHOLE LEFT SIDE off? I dont know if it's because she doesnt know how to cut a combover, but when I asked what had happened, she said "Thats what he wanted, it's not my fault" I dont know her name but I don't think anyone who is cutting people's hair should say something like that when they mess up. I had a terrific haircut in December by Mary Ann , went back on December 31st for a trim and shape. Brought a picture of my haircut showing front, side, back-- ( Mary Ann copied it exactly) I was going out for the New Year and wanted to look particularly nice. The outline of my cut was still there and my hair looked nice when I entered the shop--a woman by the name of Alina ( know that from the receipt as she never said her name or had any conversation what's so ever) wouldn't more than glance at the picture and proceeded to butcher my hair. I had to wear it slicked back as I'm at my corporate office and it is so bad--that I wouldn't attend a Dog Show- her own hair looked like she was lost in the 70's with streaked light on dark hair--she should of never been allowed to have anything sharper than a shampoo bottle in her hand; it will take over three months before I can have my original hair cut back. Awesome hair salon. C'mon for 13 bucks + 5 dollar tip.. The gorgeous red haired salonist did an amazing transformation for my unhealthy hair. She was very kind, friendly, humble and dedicated. I remember the Srilankan woman - SHE IS NOT AN INDIAN FYI; was not so good at taking instructions (according to me i.e) But this girl, I showed her the catalog and gave some additional preference as well and I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED! This place always, always, always screws up my online reservation. The whole pint of great clips isntoncheck on online and then pace yourself so that you can just walk in and get your haircut. I've come here so many times and its never been "easy". Before going to Great Clips, I read the so-so reviews on Yelp and was skeptical. Even so, I decided to give them a shot. And I'm so glad I did. Great Clips has everything I need in a haircut: it's the cheapest haircut I've received since 1999, no-thrills (but the interior is surprisingly nice), and most importantly, they did the job well. On that last point: Jackie executed the perfect high and tight. Yeah...it's not a fancy hairdo to begin with, but you know what? I'm not one of those guys who needs or wants a fancy haircut. All I want is to come out of a place with less hair than I came in with, so I don't get as hot while exercising. It doesn't hurt if I also step out looking like a badass Marine (too bad I'll never actually be that cool). Look: if you want to be a little namby-pamby with a fancy hairdo, go to a salon and fork over tons of cash to look goofy. Went in. Place was empty. 2 women cutting hair with 2 customers who were close to done. I asked how long. Rather than a time estimate she said, "there are 7 people ahead of, but they're not here so you're next." 10 minutes go by and 3 people come in. 2 registered on-line so they take one of them next. If I'd been told, "you're next unless they come in, I could have left earlier. I understood her to say, "they missed their appointments so you're next." That wasn't the case. I bailed. Guess my dollars and tip aren't as good as on-line customers. They shouldn't take walk-ins if that is their priority. Will not go back. So in the year and a half since I've lived in Northridge, I've gotten my haircut 4 times. 3 of which were at this Great Clips. If only 2 of those haircuts had come from here, they'd receive a 1 star review. The third time bumped it up 1 star. So I cam in here for a haircut my first time. My cousin had just gotten his done and was raving about the girl who cut his hair. He told me to go to the cute Indian girl cutting hair so I went in and went with the only Indian girl in there (and I wasn't even sure she was Indian). Talk about a person who was blinded (my cousin). She was lifeless and boring and when I asked for an inch and a half off, she took 4. The next time I went in I walked by to make sure she wasn't there. She wasn't! Yay! So I went in and put my name in. Guess who walked in from the back? So I sat through my second haircut with this girl. Knowing what I rememberd from the time before, I told her to take a half inch off. She took 3 inches. Since my only experience had been with this girl so far, the next time I went I did my same walkby, but waited a few minutes to make sure she wasn't hiding. I go in, put my name in and there's a bit of a wait. 20 mins later, guess who showed up for her shift? I did the math on who I'd end up with, realized it was going to be her, and got up and left. The next time I went in there was nobody waiting and I didn't see her so I ran in and got the guy in there. He at least took the amount I wanted off. But then again, it's still a Great Clips. Decent enough haircut for the price, and I don't get mine cut very often. I'll probably still go here since it's walking distance just I will never get my hair cut by that girl again. read more

I have a pretty basic hair style and was paying $40-$50 at the other salons. When this Great Clips opened near my house, they offered promo $8 haircuts so I thought I would give it a try. The haircut was just as good at the $40-$50 ones I had in the past. They also suggested a Great Clips products for my dry hair and I purchased it and it works well. The Great Clip salon products were also reasonably price. I have gone back twice now and had Janet cut my hair each time, she has done a good job and for $13 now, can't really get any better. read more
