And besides the great haircut, she makes you feel so welcome. I have never been very comfortable going to a hair salon, always feeling a little intimidated. But the atmosphere here is so welcoming! This is the 2nd very positive review I am writing, after my 2nd visit to this salon, and I am hoping it will encourage others to stop in, meet the staff, and get your hair done. This is the only place I visit for a cut. My wife buzzes my hair most weeks but even she agrees, I need to stop at the shop more often as they do a far better job. Tighter and neater than she could do on her best day. I've sat in every chair in the place and have never been disappointed by the service or conversation. The smells of cigarette smoke and sadness. Never thought that would be my opening line for a hair salon. But really, that's what it was like walking into this location. I expected Trixie to walk out holding a half burned cigarette uttering "what do ya want?" Both my girls needed a hair trim, so we stopped in here after a great lunch at Melt a few doors down. Walking into this location I was overtaken by the smell of smoke. All the employees were smokers and the building sure suffered because of it. Being a non smoker, it's an instant turn off. The setup of this location is horrible. Check in is in the back of the building....so you have to walk through the barber chairs to get to the register. Awkward! That's kinda like entering someone's home through their bedroom. The staff here were nice. Friendly and helpful and good humor. But man were they rough. Having conversations I would NEVER have in front of clients. It was like they were hanging out at home. Not at all professional. They did do a good job at cutting the kids hair though, which was the saving grace for me. Overall, I wasn't impressed by any means and I won't go out of my way to come back. Unless I suddenly take up smoking and befriend Trixie. read more

Cheap but TERRIBLE. Wanted a men's undercut (long top, faded into short on the bottom). Stylist (Kara) buzzed majority of hair off head. Wanted the top to be long but trimmed, asked for an inch, and she cut 4 inches off. Rather than cleaning up the neck area, she created a hair line that is abnormally placed in reference to the natural hair line. Impossible to style the hair now. Next time, I'll listen to my girlfriend and never go there again. read more

This counter staff was extremely unprofessional. They refused me a haircut for absolutely no reason at all. It's not like they were busy either. There were literally three barbers sitting there doing nothing. I used to go there all the time. Not after I was told, "I know you come here all the time, but we won't cut your hair." Worst off is I've been trying to get answers and a resolution for a month now and I've been ignored. This type of unacceptable, unprofessional and unethical discriminatory treatment of a return customer is by far the worst thing I've ever witnessed. I went on to tell him about my day so far, and exclaimed, "I got the best hair cut of my life at Great Clips!" He replied, "so, you are broke." Yes, the lowly state of my bank account brought me into Great Clips on a Tuesday morning. But, I did get the best hair cut of my life. My stylist, Lori, has been cutting hair for 20+ years and she knows what she's doing. I brought in a picture of what I wanted, and before I knew it, my head was a blur of scissors and flying hair. She was polite, quick, non judgmental, and spot-on. We were done super fast. No wasted time with a shampoo. No upsell with products. In and out in 15 minutes with a great cut that was exactly what I asked for, executed well. Before tip, my total was $13. read more

The new motto for this chain should be "You Get What You Pay For." Sure, they're cheap; sure, they're fast; but I have never had a good haircut from a Great Clips. For a while, that was okay with me, but I don't feel like I can continue giving money for a product that I am not happy with. Generally, the stylists at these shops are alright. However, this location has never really impressed me. I've gone here four times and had three stylists: one was a fun sassy lady (I approve); a guy who was okay; and another woman that seemed upset that I was there making her do her job. That really didn't rub me the right way. I pride myself on being pretty easy to get along with (and I say that in the least egotistic way possible), but I could not get along with her. It really put a damper on my whole experience. Also, the haircut was bad, but that's another story. ...and here it is: my haircuts were mostly bad. The one that the sassy lady gave me was good though, so she added an extra star to the review. If you're okay going to "Mediocre Clips", paying less, having a less than average customer service experience, and getting an underpar haircut then go for it. I certainly did for a while. You never know what you will get at Great Clips. I've had hair cuts I really liked, and some that were so uneven I had to go home and finish cutting it myself. But I also feel that the same can be said about salons where you will pay the big bucks for a cut. So I continue to go to great clips most of the time. This particular shop usually isn't too busy which is nice. And their online check-in makes it even easier to find a good time to go and not have to wait. read more

Great Clips has an absolute gem in Raquel/Rachel. I followed her here from a specialty barber shop in town and she is what most barbers/stylists strive to be: consistent. Aside from that, she's allowed me to style my hair in ways I never thought possible. Tip - Do yourself a favor and add the Great Clips app on your phone for easier check-in. The stylist made snide remarks about my hair, yanked it so hard brushing it that she tore out some hair and almost ripped out my earring, and wiped her nose on her hands and then continued cutting my hair. At one point she stopped and scratched her whole back on the partition and I was positive she was drunk at 2:00 in the afternoon. She insisted that I needed "long layers" and then gave me layers that are a full 2.5 inches shorter than the rest of my hair when my hair is only chin length-- my hair looks like shit and I have my graduation in two days. I've had great experiences at this Great Clips in the past (the only reason this isn't a one star) but I'll never be back while this woman is working there. read more

i wish i could do zero stars or even negative. worst haircut i have ever had. i donated ten inches of my hair for locks for love and my hair was at my shoulder when it was cut. and rather than a trim, she decided to cut and layer my hair (without asking, only asked after she layered about half of my head) and my hair ended up barely past my ears. the layers are also choppy, it looks like a five year old got scissors and cut randomly. she kept saying she had to make it even but she made it much worse. the layers are horrendous and it reaches far above my ears. i can't do anything with my hair. never go to Amy to get your hair cut. she'll do what she wants and cut almost all of your hair off. also lied to me and said i had to donate 12 inches as a minimum or i wouldn't get a free hair cut, i checked the website and it's 10. so i payed for a horrible haircut and a lying hairdresser. i'm livid because i can't do anything with my hair now. read more

Was donating my hair to Wigs for Kids. Went in with my hair braided to the length I *needed* it to be at the end of the cut (which still allowed for the shortest length to be cut to be well over the minimum). Idiot stylist went all OCD "evening things up" and my hair is at least 2 inches shorter than needed to keep it in the shortest, simplest braid so now I get to spend the next several months spending 10x as much time detangling my hair and unable to keep my hair from falling into my mouth when I'm sleeping (thus disturbing my sleep which is already challenged by chronic pain issues) because the stupid stylist "had to" even things up for when my hair is down (I wear my hair down at most twice a year, the reason I keep it long is to be able to keep it secured so it doesn't get tangled and cause me shoulder pain from trying to get the tangles out). It's so short I can't even wear it in a ponytail at any position, because if I wear it in a nape-of-neck ponytail the hair from the front falls out of the holder, if I wear it in a mid level ponytail the hair near the nape of my neck won't stay in the holder. This is my 5th hair donation in the last 15 years and I requested my hair be left longer than I've ever asked for it to be left but it wound up being the shortest final length after the cut. She has stolen days worth of productivity from me from the increase in time I'll now have to spend dealing with my easily tangled hair that I would have been keeping in a braid. 3 other stylists also FUBARed my husband and sons' haircuts, not a single one of them resembles the picture I brought in in any way other than being shorter on the sides than when they came in, and even though it was the SAME reference picture I showed to all three stylists, their haircuts look nothing alike other than "short". My husband's hair is about an inch shorter on top than instructed so it is sticking up funny (he was also donating his hair), my 10 year old's bangs would have been more even if he'd done them himself, and my 7 year old's thin hair was cut so short (in spite of my telling the stylist to leave it longer BECAUSE it's so thin) that he's got visible scalp all over and his hair only grows about 4 inches per year so it'll not be filled in until sometime around Easter. There is no way for them to make this right. I would have been better off cutting our hair myself. The only reason I went to a salon was because I didn't want to deal with cleaning hair up at home. I'm not at all trained in haircutting but I do as well or better than this on my kids in the summer in the back yard with my Wahl clipper. NEVER coming back, since they can't follow the simplest, most explicit of instructions or details. read more

Super fast, not too busy, not expensive and I love my haircut! Kara is the one who cut my hair and she was great but everyone there also seemed really cool. Got a horrible hair cut back in April. Walked in and was paired up with a blond stylist. I showed her pictures of exactly what I wanted. She seemed confident in being able to do the job. I'm African American and keep by hair short (think Halle Berry hair cut). I wanted the sides cut down but specifically told her that I did not want it so close that it would appear as if I had a buzz cut. Well she cut down once and I asked that she cut no more off and continue to cut the back of my hair too. Well, she decided she was going to go back over the sides and cut it even shorter!!! Long story short, one side of my head was buzzed off and she attempted to persuade me that this was the style nowadays...unfortunately I work in a professional business office and a buzz cut isn't appropriate. She suggested I get clip ins which is a hassle to find your color and trim it to the wanted length and more importantly now that I was practically bald, what am I going to attach the glue to!! I was livid. So much so that she didn't charge me for the haircut. I would never go back! I ended up buying a wig and made the decision to keep wearing wigs until I can grow my natural hair out. I simply gave up on short hairstyle..it's as if no one in Cleveland knows how to cut African American hair! read more
