I was hesitant at first but after giving it I've gotten several coupons both thru email and my mailbox! My barber was ASH, she was very knowledgable, listens, is friendly while not being annoyingly over bearing either. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted after showing her a picture of a certain style. She was fairly quick yet did an excellent job! They don't try to sell you on products for a quick commission either. The store is very clean, their whole staff is welcoming and professional. Been growing my hair out for 6 months so I could braid it and man bun it when it isn't braided. Hair on top is 6" and sides were roughly 2" in length. I asked to keep the length on top and to buzz the sides and back with a 1 clip. She proceeded to fade, when I did not ask for a fade. Not only that, she did not fade evenly nor straight. She ended up buzzing a big patch of hair from the top (6") which now I have to grow out again which will take months. I then asked her to make a hard line separating the top from the sides and back which she proceeded to do, only the line isn't straight and there are several areas that she cut from the top portion that makes a straight line impossible so now little hairs poke out when I do make a bun. I did enter the shop at 5:30 which is toward the end of the day so she may have been tired but that is no excuse. The amount of laziness and inadequate skill amazes me. She was an older lady named Donna and was also not friendly at all and often ignored me when I tried to talk to her, did not want to get too upset and felt like trying to fix my hair would've just led to more problems so I just left. Even though I live in Wahiawa, HI I will drive down to this location in Kapolei to get my haircut. Not only because I like the salon but because of Sam. I am an extremely picky person when it comes to my hair. Most of the time when someone new is cutting my hair I say something along the lines of this hello, how long have you been cutting hair? Here is exactly what I want no deviations or creative freedoms on your part. Can you do this exactly or do I need to wait for someone else who can? Yes it may seem rude and not needed but I know what I want and don't want to pay for something I don't. Too many times in the past I would go to a hair place and get something done and not like how it was done or the end product but still paid and then after leaving would I complain about it to my friends - not anymore. Yes there are probably other "Sam" in Hawaii that can cut my hair but when I sit in her chair she remembers me, she remembers my hair and what we talked about the last time. Asks me if a product she recommended is working or not. She gives a personal connection; something that interestingly enough I think most would not think they would get in a fast hair cut establishment. I brought my son to cut his hair today and this older lady cuts his hair( I think she's the only oldest barber there). I told her TO MAKE IT ONE INCH LONG ATTHE TOP and she did not listen she cut 1/4 inch. So I told her the top supposed to be 1 inch and she looked down and said its number 3 what the fuck, she cannot even look at me coz she know she fucked the hair cut. GREAT CLIPS WHY DO YOU GUYS HIRE UNTALENTED PEOPLE TO CUT IN YOUR SHOP? I found this place a few months ago and I've been going there ever since. I don't need anything fancy done with my hair I just need a reliable quick and clean haircut. I ended up having a couple different people cut my hair sometimes the same person cut my hair twice. they seem to be a more experienced group of people cutting hair then you would find it like a Supercuts. I love the app it is great that you can check in online show up and then you're basically the next person to be served. The prices are good for Hawaii little more expensive than then some but definitely worth the little bit extra for good quality and friendly service. read more

This review is only for the ladies haircut. Usually it's hard to find a place cheap enough where girls/women can get their haircut. At great clips, for about $18 you can get a dry haircut.. a tad cheaper than where I used to go, which was around $20-ish, at that time. The staff is super friendly and they know how to cut hair! Not a let down. You can either check in on-line or walk in. If they're not too busy, you'd be in and out in no time. The stylist just kept cutting- more in one area, less in another, didn't check if sides were equal but yesterday I found a stylist at another salon that works miracles who corrected my very bad haircut. Ok. After reading some of the reviews, it seems like there is a bit of hair stylist drama with this place so I'll make it pretty "clean cut" with my review. First, a lot of yelpers know when a "yelper" with only one review or one friend isn't really a yelper - just a person bashing or promoting the business so the people are doing that are wasting their time. And since I've been a duke of Kapolei (self proclaimed) I think I can give an honest review of this place. The wait- Very clean and very polite hair stylists. The waiting list is on a monitor so you know exactly where you are in line. You can even sign up online. They do ask for your phone number and address for coupons -- I'm a bit meh about that but that seems the norm. The cut- Van was very swift and thorough. She has been cutting hair for over ten years so she's seen a lot of hair. And I actually have a hard lopsided head to cut so if she can cut my hair nicely, I'm sure she can cut yours too. Only reason I'm not rating this higher is because I only been here once-- but so far so good. But there were some confusion in the check in and payment process- comes with a new business though. There is a grand opening coupon too so it's definitely the cheapest place- don't know how that'll last though. Hope this review helps. The others are way too biased and polarized. read more

Horrible. Extremely long wait even with the online check in. They just kept adding time to my wait and pushing it back. I finally walked out after I sat for an hour. The online check in said 30 minutes. They had three girls working. Only two doing haircuts. One was stocking shelves with four customers waiting. And if you knew them they would let you cut line and skip the wait! Ridiculous! Seems to me if the wait is over an hour and four people waiting you should stop stocking shelves and cut hair. read more

I felt really bad giving a bad review because everyone was so friendly...but couldn't get over the way my sons hair looked. With that said, I was contacted by Britt and she mentioned that "Great Clips guarantees their haircuts" So she told me to come back to get it fixed and "hopefully I leave happy". By far the slowest and worse great clips I have ever been to. It took them over a hour and a half two cut 2 people's hair. All the employees want to do is chat with each other and play grab Fanny while just letting the customers stack up. They had a promotion for $7.99 haircuts which seemed to good to be true but I feel like it was definitely worth it. Not only was he happy with his hair but so was I. THEY DONT DESERVE ANY STARS AT ALL! I understand everything is a little difficult with this covid thing and I am normally very understandable if you can explain the problem to me. But this place took my appointment online. It said there was about a 2 hour wait. Ok no problem. I left my house a half hour before my appointment to make sure I was on time. About an hour later I get a text telling me it'll be another 15 minutes. NO PROBLEM. After 15 minutes of waiting in my car, I go in to see that my son is still #7 in line. There's only 1 chair that's occupied because of the covid guidelines so we go back to wait in the car. Then 20 minutes later they lock up. When I knocked to find out about my appointment they say no appointment was made. THEN WHY DID THEY TEXT ME?!? The only explanation I get is that they close at 6. I know, then why did they text me to wait?!? No concern for my situation from the employees. Not even to offer to schedule another appointment for tomorrow. Like it's not their problem since they close at 6? Well they get paid for staying past 6 but I WAITED IN MY CAR FOR OVER AN HOUR WITHOUT PAY! With a grouchy 10 year old complaining the whole time! Hair stylists don't read the notes and just cut whatever they want without listening to the customer. I tell her to take off 1/2 an inch. "Oh, you want me to take off an inch?" I tell her to leave the sideburns alone. *Buzzzz off go the sideburns I tell her to taper the back. "Oh I didn't think you wanted me to taper the back so I didn't do it." And there's an uneven cut in the back line now. Next time, just sit me down and start stabbing me in the ear. That would be so more preferable. read more
