I normally don't write reviews this soon after visiting a hair salon (I typically like to try them…read moremore than once to make sure they're consistent), but Anna worked some serious magic on my baby fine hair. I just moved to the Mountain Brook a few weeks ago and was in desperate need of a good hair cut after growing my hair out several months before my wedding. I've gone to plenty of salons over the years that don't know how to work with my fine hair. They over-promise and under-deliver, not taking into consideration what their clients want. Right away I knew I was in good hands with Anna, who came highly recommended from a local Mt. Brook Facebook page. She was personable and had a confidence that made me feel at ease -- she clearly knew what she was doing. Throughout the appointment she shared recommendations for places to check out around town, from local restaurants to shops. She certainly went the extra mile and helping me feel welcome to the city. The salon itself is tucked away on Culver Rd., but when you open the door: wow. It's a charming, gorgeous space. Wildflower is definitely worth trying out ASAP.

This school actually used to be a movie theater decades ago they've done a really good job turning into a beauty school. I want to say it's been around maybe at least 15 years if not more. When I walked in, I was greeted with a smiling receptionist asking my name and then getting me to fill some stuff out while I waited. I visited the bathroom and got me some water. They also offer tea I believe. If you're going to get a facial, they usually give you a robe and slippers, but since it was just brow lamination, we didn't get any of that. They did bring us to a waiting area that was dark and had peaceful and relaxing music on. While I was sitting there, a young blonde came in and said my name and I said that was me and she led me down the hallway into a room with a massage table I laid on. She did do a patch test first to make sure I wouldn't be allergic to the ingredients to get my lamination done. After the past test was over, she began her magic. She told me she will be graduating in June. I am going to try to make an appointment to get a facial before she graduates. She was very personable and professional The one thing I find weird is you cannot add a tip when you're checking out you have to either give them cash or cash app or Venmo I was able to give her cash. The receptionist called her back upfront. And they do have a teacher come check out before and after your service. I will definitely be back here sooner than later I love that there is plenty of parking here.

I explained to the student that I had 3 bowls of color prior. The head instructor just "invented" something & only 2 color. The student took over 20 minutes just to part off my hair. it took the student well over 2 hours to put the foils in. way too long! The foils needed to be sliced. each time I come in I ask for 2 students because I have so much hair. rarely do I get 2 students. sat there for another 2 hours waiting for the foils to lift. all 3 instructors checked on me but did not offer much help. it was obvious that not enough developer was used in mixing the color in the first place. finally took out the foils & the student did not throughly wash my hair. my hair is thick & one has to get your hands in there etc. no scalp massage either. The toner color was all wrong. I told the studen it was way too dark more than once. she said, "well it's wet". I told her I dry/style my hair with a big round brush. she used a very small round brush & constantly pulled my hair. I repeated use a big round brush but was ignored & it was way too dark. she quit & walked off. an instructor came over & assigned another student to finish drying. i expressed my disappointment & dissatisfaction with the service, 6+ hours wasted. upon re-book an appointment for the following Thursday afternoon as I was driving home the salon called & said I had to come on Saturday so they could have all day, etc. I said no. I was not going to waste another 6+ hours & ruin my whole day again. I requested a refund & I went to another salon where I was properly Taken care of & in a timely manner. I will not return to this school. Teaching a "one size fits all" does not apply to a client with thick hair.
