I have been going to Great Clips for years and like that this location is a few minutes from home. Their prices are reasonable, friendly staff, and I can check in and view wait times on the Great Clips app. I add my name to the list on the app before I drive over and by the time I arrive there is no wait. This Great Clips is also open both Saturday and Sunday--many others are closed on Sunday. I typically get my yearly chop and have liked the results. Quality and speed of cut depends on the hairstylist. I never ask for anything crazy; few inches off and layering to either my shoulders or beneath my chin. One of my hairstylist gave me great advice on how to care for my hair because it was so dry. She didn't sell me any product and simply told me not to wash my hair everyday and use very little conditioner. My hair looks ten times healthier. The staff is always welcoming. The salon can get busy on certain times throughout the year like holidays and back to school with kids getting haircuts. read more

Today, I had an appointment at another salon in town. I had that appointment for a month, but somehow, it got canceled, and they were too booked to do the updo for the event I had. There was nothing they could do, and I was told, "The computer must have messed up." I left, started having an anxiety attack, and I had to go to my car to sob. When you have an appointment set up for so long, drive 35 minutes to get there (because barely any salons are open on Sundays), it's literally like a slap in the face. I was so incredibly grateful that (I think her name was crystal) was able to take me last minute at great clips. She did an absolutely amazing job, and it was exactly what I wanted. Even with the rain and dancing, my hair is still pristine. I suffer from anxiety and depression and self esteem issues, so this just made my day 100x better. Nice people and cheap prices earned the second star, but I just got the worst haircut of my life. I asked her to leave it the way it was, just shorter. Instead she nearly completely shaved the entire left side of my head and the back and left a couple of inches of hair on the top right. Just so terrible. My mom went in for a cut and all the "stylist" did was take scissors and cut straight across the back. There was no concern for actually cutting a top layer and then bottom layers and had I thought this is all she would do, I could have cut the hair myself! Do NOT go. Nothing seems to even be cleaned and disinfected, esp right now at the HEIGHT of a virus scare. If u have time, go to Cappelli- a stylist school in Wallingford. For $10 you get a wash and cut, and it's a real cut that takes into account hair texture and style. It's worth the time you spend there. Def do not come here!! Even if you get coupons! read more

Finding a reliable, affordable and good local barber/hair salon isn't easy. GREAT CLIPS in Cheshire is a treasure. Just had a great haircut by Juliana there. She was pleasant, professional, cut it the way I wanted it and paid attention to little details like my sideburns. I've paid $65 for haircuts before and Juliana's was better. Could not be more pleased!! Making an appointment was super easy and the team there is very careful about maintaining safety and infection protocols wiping everything down after every use. Stylist, Lynn, was very sweet and pleasant to the two gentleman she had in her chair prior to being my turn, however from the minute I sat down I felt dismissed. I asked for suggestions as to what I should do, but she seemed more concerned with getting me out of her chair as soon as possible. With that said, her plan must have worked, my haircut (which come to find out was longer by over an inch on one side) was over in just 9 short minutes, and no blow dry?! did not have the best experience at the cheshire location on april 1. i went in simply asking for my hair to be shortened 1/2" everywhere. Lynn was my stylist, she was very nice but i do not recommend she cuts your hair. i was in the chair for less than 10 min and during that time her coworker, who was working on another customer next to me, had accidentally cut her finger. she didn't really cut my hair or focus on it at all while i was there she seemed very distracted with her coworker and the conversation she was having with her customer. in total she must have combed up  and cut less than 10 times, not really doing much, my hair was still in my eyes. then she was like "hows it look" and i was worried, i asked her if she could make everything a little shorter (like i had previously asked) and she slices my front up to make it look like i have bangs :/ keeping the hairs from creeping into my vision. later that day i get home, shower, and style my hair, and i realize that the left half of my hair is around 3/4" shorter than the right when my hair flips out the sides in the back. the worst part is my friends  making fun of my haircut for around a week and a half after i had gotten it cut here until it grew a little bit and normalized. i do not recommend going to this location and i am afraid to go back to great clips in general after this last experience, i only went because i had a coupon. i have been a great clips customer for around 6 months and ive had good haircuts at the wallingford location, not every stylist is good though, trust me and dont get your hair cut from anyone under 30 at the wallingford location or you'll have a similar experience :) read more
