I have never had a bad experience here at all. No matter who cuts my hair. I leave feeling as though i've made a friend. As for the comments about NASCAR posters everywhere. If this is your excuse for not waning to go here, I suggest you never ever visit the south .Just about every establishment, especially chains, have NASCAR sponsorship agreements. Today, Hannah cut my hair and did a great job for me! She noticed my surgical scar on the right side of my head. And we talked about that for a period of time. I've always been on the fence about keeping it as un noticeable as possible .This time, after talking to her, I told her not to worry about working around it. In my old hometown there were two women that would cut my hair on a regular basis. And i felt as comfortable with Hannah as i did them. It's nice to not just sit there and get your haircut. I'll be asking for Hannah the next time I get my haircut at Great clips Bainbridge island! read more

I am totally done with this place as I received the worst uneven embarrassing haircut ever

This place is one of the only places on the island to get a haircut, normally we find a decent place in Seattle and stick with it, but the 4 hours to get a haircut sometimes is too much. Here is an overview of four visits: 1. I had a styled haircut from Memphis, shorter on the sides (0 fade up to razor cut part lines with a styled top) - it had only grown out recently and I wanted to get the sides trimmed back down. It ended up awkward, they didn't fade all the way to the part line and on the other side they did a 1 fade. I asked them to correct and they did. They ended up taking more off the top than I asked for and unevenly. 2. My last two cuts had been done in Seattle and were pretty good, but travel had made me miss 2 and I needed to travel again so ran in for a quick cut. This one was done decently, it matched what I asked for. The only problem is that in the faded section there were stray long hairs and the buzzed neck was a failure I had my wife correct. - My son went in for a haircut, it was ok. I was noncommittal on the type of haircut and just said "make it a normal cut". They did. 3. I went in for a similar haircut, since the last was not too bad. They started way too high (above the part-line) for the fade and I would have ended up with a mohawk. I had my entire head done with a 1 at that point. Same issue as #3 with stray hairs. I think they need to make sure their buzzers are up to snuff. 4. My son has wavy hair, so we asked for a specific haircut and brought pictures. My wife went in this time and she doesn't normally do the boy-childs hair so doesn't know the expectation. At a glance it looks like it might do the trick or might be too long, but we don't know and only have the advice of the barber (I can't say hair stylist, because...) because they didn't bother to style the hair, offer to style the hair, or tell us how to style the hair. When queried about why it might be too long they said it would work when we got home and styled it. Overall, this isn't an awful place to get a normal haircut, just assume that if you have something in mind it won't be exact and don't expect it to be someplace other than a rushed commercial barber experience. read more

I wish I could pick my hair stylist. I had a feeling. I really did. It was a gut feeling, the kind you get when you just know there's a serial killer hiding in the closet and instead of getting the hell out, you just say to yourself 'No, that's silly. It'll be fine.' And it never is, is it? I waited and watched a dude get a cool cut there by one girl (tall with dark, longish hair) and waited in suspense, hoping I wouldn't get the other one. The one that gave me a sense of doom. And of course I did. She cut my hair crooked. The left side is appreciably longer than the right side. And she cut it so it was supposed to curl under, which had the effect of making my naturally wavy hair bone straight and slightly frizzy. I waited a week hoping it would 'do something', I don't know what. Fix itself? The guys were getting great cuts! The owner and the other woman were taking lots of time and made them really look sharp. But ladies, I don't know if you should risk it. That said they have some great styling products there and they are quick (too quick?) and inexpensive. But I don't think I will risk it again. Unless there is someway to choose a stylist without being mean. I hate to be all like 'No. Not you. I want that girl over there. You suck." I'm sad. I look like a fool. With a cheap haircut. I am going to hide in the bathroom and wait for a serial killer. It's the only thing that will fix this haircut. read more

Yesterday the 4 year old was adamant that he wanted to "look like his big brother, who happens to be living 7500 miles away, and needed the haircut to match (that very second of course, as is typical of the miniature beings who dictate amongst us). Fortunately we were able to take a quick walk to our local Great Clips in Winslow Bainbridge and were both delighted at the helpful staff who (with only a shaky photo of the hairstyle required) were able to satisfy the young mans desire (whilst not demolishing all the beautiful blonde locks) and his delight in turn made my day. The friendly demeanor, patience and kindness of the lady who assisted us was phenomenal especially when all the instructions, from said 4 year old, were announced (he doesn't like the hairdryer or clippers and wanted to be in the seat with the orange partition). I'm done with this place. I haven't even been going there for too long either. I'd say maybe about 10 times, for a male haircut - usually involving both scissors and clippers. A handful of times it wasnt horrible - nothing special, but passable. A few other times it was sub par - but I dealt with it. One time I had to go back in cause it was horribly done. But that same cut is when I had finished my punch card, so I gave them another shot. When I used that punch card, it was OK. Then I got a coupon in the mail, so I thought I'd use it........then it was bad...... I decided I was going to keep the length, and all I wanted was a clean up. I ended up having to go home and shave half an inch off one of my side burns, cause they made it super uneven. While I was doing that I decided to take a closer look at the cut and what do I see? A huge rat bite above my ear! Seriously - if you, as a hair stylist, gives someone a huge rat bite - say something! It was obviously something they hoped I didn't see.....cause there's no way anyone would look at it and think its acceptable. I would have easily just said OK let's go ahead and just get my usual clean cut which would fix it. But no - I have to go home and find it. Honestly - spend a little more money elsewhere. Its like a game of Russian roulette going to great clips. I don't even want to go back and give them a chance to fix it cause I'm afraid they will just balls it up even more! I've lived in other places and have had great experiences with these chain salons (great clips, super cuts, master cuts, etc). Good enough to have gone there regularly for a long time. But this place is really lacking talent. I guess I can't speak for all the stylists - cause I've only had cuts by maybe 4-5 of them. But if the best you can get from trying 5 stylists is "passable", you know its bad. read more

Wow, that's harsh homey's! I don't think it fits all those descriptions... no smoke, no mullets, no Nascar posters! I wouldn't go if that were the case. Look... it may be generic hair care,, but its cheap and sufficient for a man's haircut or girl's trim. They're not artists, but I don't need art every six weeks. I just need a decent cut and I've been getting one there for years. Nicky who runs the place is highly experienced and gives me a great cut every time. Not sure about the others, but be descriptive and partake in your cut so they know what you want and it'll be fine. Just sayin'... its just hair! read more

What a horrible experience. Been going to this location for 3 years.. Never had a great cut, but were passable.. My son on the other hand, never hat a straight haircut.. I am almost 40 and deciding to grow my hair longer like it was in the 90s.. I could put my hair up in a pretty decent pony tail before I went in.. I just wanted the short area on sides and back of head cut with a #4 and the length evened out a little.. So what does the employee do? takes a #4 and starts shaving without even holding the long hair up.. swaths of long hair falling off.. So much so now, my 12 months of growing it out is basically ruined.. My hair is so thin now as it is basically long hair in a mohawk strip at the top that a band just falls off when it is in a ponytail. Not sure what this employee was thinking.. but never going here again.. I recommend everyone stay away unless you just need a buzz cut... and even then they will probably mess it up.. Now I have to figure out what to do with a mohawk of hair for work.. What a disaster. read more

I have gone to the Great Clips on the island for trims on previous styles, never a style itself (not worth the risk - ever!), on and off for 10+ years. They have always done a so-so job, but several nasty cuts severely scarred me as a child. Crooked cuts are common, and it's clear they just want you in and out as quick as they can manage. Last week, I too received a "half-cut". The woman who did my cut decently trimmed up the back, but missed several noticable chunks in the front, which unfortunately, I only realized once I got home. It honestly looks like I tried to do it myself. She missed a lot of my pointy ends, and now weird pieces stick out. The woman who preformed my cut was nice enough, but the desk manager was rude and hasty. I will return because it's cheap and close, not because of the cuts I receive. read more

I should have known not to get my haircut here......and I know that I will never go back. I walked in and there was nobody else in the salon, so you would think that I would get good service from the employees......wrong!!!! My husband, who has hardly any hair I might add, had more time in the chair then I did. I walked out with a haircut that I knew was bad from the first cut!!!! Crooked bangs was enough, and I found myself telling the "stylist" that everything was cut enough, just because I didn't want her to mess up even more. Note to everyone out there: You should NOT get your haircut from somebody who looks like they haven't had their own haircut in at least 3 years, let alone brushed or washed it before they came to work!!!! Crooked bangs! Took my son to get a trim. When she was done I noticed there were longer pieces so I had her fix them. When I got home I realized they were crooked and there were tons of stragglers all over his head. This was not rocket science - I think it is always a crap shoot when you go there and unless you are getting a buzz cut you should stay away. Now I am going to another $40 for a professional to fix it. read more

I brought my son here in early June and again today (7/26/17). I'm extremely impressed with Beth , one of the Bainbridge stylists . She gave my son an amazing cut both times. My "college age" daughter happened to text me that she would like a trim so I sent her in as well. Once again, Beth did a wonderful cut - she texturized as well as trimmed and her technique was really great. Highly recommend! read more

Stay away!!! My husband went to get a simple number 2 buzz. Somehow the woman decided she would take off the guard and completely remove his side burns. He was obviously very upset. She then proceeded to cut the rest of his hair in the most haphazard way. He looked ridiculous. When he went to ask for his money back she informed him that that was not possible unless he wanted to come back in 5 days to meet with the manager! TERRIBLE! read more

Not a great hair cut for my boys, but the worse part was the lady actually complained that her tip wasn't big enough. At least I gave her a tip! She didn't do a good enough job to deserve more. We will never return. read more
