Im going five stars this time. The vegetable egg foo yung is dope. One of the best ive ever had. Drove an hour from Pittsburg yesterday just to get this. Plenty of veggies and the pancakes are thick and silky. I judge mexican restaurants on chili rellenos and carnitas and chine restaurants on egg foo yung and black bean sauce (which i have yet found in kansas). Great China knocks it out of the park. The service we received from our waitress was fine. There was a very poor selection of food that was cold and not good, mostly american. The atmosphere of the restaurant overall was not welcoming. read more

They do not take debit cards which makes it less than convenient. Food is ok - Not great. Chinese food in this town is not good as a whole. Will give it another chance though. read more

*Cash Only Restaurant* Not a deal breaker for me. What I ordered was very delicious. The egg rolls, I could literally eat 20 of them. Sooooo good. The lunch portion was a good size portion and the orange chicken was very tasty. The Shrimp Lo mein was good but the noodles were different from what I'm used to. They were thin but overall it was very delicious. I will definitely be coming back. The ladies that were working were so sweet!! read more

Probably some of the worst chinese i ever had. Very small selection and the food was cold. Service was really poor. I had to chase down somebody not my waitor to get a refill after asking my waitor. He said hed come right back and get it but never did. read more

Great China has the absolute best egg drop soup I've ever eaten. Everything they make is fresh and hot and so delicious. Their crab Rangoon is much unlike most places, it's got hardy crab whether it's fresh or imitation, it's still loaded with crab and all packed in a very thin and perfectly fried wonton wrapper. I personally love the sesame or orange chicken, I always have a hard time choosing which one. Today it was sesame. I can't describe it other than it's amazing and is almost like a honey sesame flavor with fresh sesame seeds on top. The orange has a VERY fresh orange flavor. I cannot forget the fresh peach sauce that they make in house. It beats dipping crab Rangoon in sweet and sour or plain duck sauce anyday. I could eat the peach sauce with a spoon! I don't know what else to say other than I've never had a bad experience and I hope the restaurant is open for many generations to come. read more

People say this is the best Chinese in Kansas. They really need to leave the town of independence then. I have been all over the US and the food I ate here was terrible to say the least. The food was bland even when you ask them to raise the spice level to authentic Chinese level. Also this place only takes cash. I would rather drive 100 miles to Tulsa to get Chinese than eat here again. read more

I would like to start off saying that I am a Chinese food lover. I'll eat anything sketchy as long as it's Chinese. So, when I saw this place, I was of course willing to try it. Walking towards the door I could smell the food, and was relieved because normally that's a good sign. When I walked into this restaurant, there was hardly anyone there. Considering it was 6:30pm, this wasn't a good sign. And by the time I left, I understood why there was nobody there. Nobody seated us. The lady asked how many and pointed at a door, saying nothing. We had to seat ourselves.... which is okay, except they didn't say to seat ourselves or give any direction whatsoever, making it a really awkward situation. We ordered the dinner meal #1 that you share with two people. The egg drop soup wasn't bad, but the egg rolls and fried wontons weren't so great. The four foods they served next were unidentifiable. The what I'm assuming was the chow mein tasted like it had been drowned in soy sauce, the sweet and sour pork was impossible to bite through, the sweet and sour chicken was mediocre, and I'm actually not sure what the last thing was, but it was the most bland food that has ever entered my mouth. The waitress never came to check on us other to bring the food and drop off the check. Overall I'd say that what we purchased did not satisfy us. It was expensive and not worth it. I will not be returning. I'm sure there are other things at the menu that do taste great and this could be an off day for the restaurant, but after this experience I personally don't care to try it again.
