Review # 20 for 2025 For a cafe in the middle of nowhere at a National Park, this place was great and very reasonably priced!! It was a very pleasant surprise. We got to Great Basin early in the morning to try and get stand by tickets for the observatory tour and so we did not have time to get breakfast in the morning. We also had a cave tour that morning right after signing up for tickets. We did bring some food, but lunch meats type of lunch and I wanted to get some hot food for my baby boy as it was cold and raining on/off that day. They are open from 8am-5pm everyday. There was a good variety of food. I ended up getting the loaded breakfast potatoes. The potatoes were a bit overcooked but overall it tasted good. My baby sure loved it! It was topped with cheese and bacon and costs around $10. I also got an iced mocha and cold brew for the hubby. My husband liked his cold brew, I like my mocha a bit less sweet but it did the job for me. It does get really busy so expect a wait if it's busy as there is one person in the front and one in the back making the food. The lady taking my order was very nice and helpful. There are a handful of tables inside, as well as a handful of tables outside. There are also some park picnic tables if you walk around behind the building a bit. Would I come back here? If I was at Great Basin again I totally would! Other items I saw people ordered looked really good too!! The prices are very fair and I would definitely get some hot food here and not pack so much food next time around. I really wanted to try the chili! read more

What a pleasant surprise to finf such a cafe in a national park! Our past experience in nat'l park food service is mediocre at best. We tried the soup, curry vegetable red lentil, and the chili. Both were exceptional. The soup was well balanced and flavorful. The chili was chock full of smoked beef, well seasoned, tasted great with cheese and onions. We ate too fast for photos It was so good there was no question where we'd eat lunch on a second day. This time part of the group had the braut special. Apparently, made in Delta, UT, this braut was something else. Again, ate too fast for photos. It was topped with a dill slaw, a mild bbq sauce, and accompanied by fries. The caliber of the food was a surprise. The service was quick and friendly. If you're visiting Great Basin Nat'l Park, look no further for your lunch needs. This cafe won't disappoint. read more

Great experience at this cafe after a long day of hiking. Very friendly staff. Good menu options. We got a round of milkshakes!! Delicious. They also have hand cut fries. Good portions and fair pricing. Plenty of seating. Quick service. Honestly better than a lot of the food in the area. Would come back here! read more

What a wonderful find in a remote part of the desert! First off, Great Basin National Park is free and beautiful so go check it out. This little cafe is right next to the Lehman Cave Visitor Center. Serves both breakfast and lunch. Large general store that services souvenir and camping needs. Family run business. I had the pleasure of watching the Dad teach his son to run the cash register. I loved it. Food was FANTASTIC. I had the breakfast bowl with green chilies and it was oh so good. Shout out to Charles White at the grill!! Avoid the Border Inn and come straight here for breakfast. It was great to find a lace to get a little bite right at the entrance of the Lehman Caves located in the Great Basin National Park. Because I'd eaten earlier on my road trip, I just had a simple bowl of their homemade style potato soup, which was like a clam chowder without the clams. It hit the spot and was very tasty. Nice little place with a lot of souvenirs too. And, surprisingly, they serve wine and beer. It's good the Great Basin National Park is in Nevada and not 30 miles to the east where it wouldn't be possible to get a drink in a place like this! read more

Considering where you're at? 5 star lol. Well worth it to wait and eat here if you're visiting the Great Basin national park or driving through (and you're driving through a lot of emptiness). They let us sit and chill while we waited for our Lehman Caves tour. Food is made to order. They put a lot of love into their breakfast burritos. P.S. the Great Basin hot sauces are amazing too, try them! read more

What more could you want at the mouth of Lehman Caves? Hot, cooked to order, fresh, and tasty. Do not be afraid to bring your appetite to this location and enjoy just before you go into the caves. But do plan accordingly because everything is cooked to order and it may take longer than you've allowed yourself. We had a great visit, as it was snowing on April 22, 2022 and we had come along way to enjoy the Caves. This establishment helped enhance our visit. read more

Please turn down the music. I know it might be your favorite song, but "I don't want to miss a thing" when it comes to conversing with my family and planning out our day at the park. Even the kids complained they couldn't hear themselves think. :-) Good service, good food, and huge portions! Would love if there was an outside shaded eating area too. This place is cute & cozy. Stopping to camp in the park for a couple nights after visiting SLC, I made sure to eat my last breakfast at the café. My meal was simple, yet delicious, and the staff was quite friendly. A restaurant, gift shop, and game store rolled into one, I found out that the establishment is privately owned and not technically run by the park, but that each tenant is contracted to occupy the space for a certain amount of time. I loved the selection of T-shirt's, souvenirs, stickers, first aid items, toys, snacks, and even board games they had to offer. They also have a full-service coffee bar with espresso drinks, for those millennials (or boomers, or Gen-X'ers, or Z's...) like me who CAN go without their coffee, but appreciate having the option in the middle of nowhere, too ;) Will definitely be back next time I visit Great Basin! read more

Most NP restaurants I've seen are very overpriced for no reason. GBNP had classic breakfast options and fairly expansive lunch menu. The enchilada nachos were so good after a long hike and their ice cream flavors were plentiful. read more

Nice little cafe located at Great Basin National Park, next to the Lehman Caves visitor's center. They carry a full menu, a great selection of beer/cider/wine, and an assortment of packaged candy/nuts/snacks. Since there aren't many choices for restaurants for many miles, this was an obvious choice for us after our cave tour at Lehman Caves. But their food is really good and all of their prices are super reasonable! Would highly recommend this cafe to anyone visiting the Great Basin/Lehman Caves area! read more

If you have come to The Great Basin National Park, you should come here. The food was sooooo good and the waitress very friendly. With a few spots to sit inside and some outside (I didn't see where) but it has a Cafe feeling to it. With different milkshake choices and even some very delicious roasted nuts. This is the best cafe I've ever been to in a national park. No Xterra here, no Costco burgers, no lousy food this place could easily get away with. I had a smoked brisket sandwich--smoked by the head chef--and homemade potato chips, all eaten while looking over this beautiful vista. They also make some nice-looking milkshakes as well as their own bread to accompany the salads and soups. You wouldn't think that there would be such good food being served out of a visitors center in a national park :) forget the info in Yelp, this cafe is located inside the Lehman Caves visitor center at Great Basin National Park. They serve up a great green Chile breakfast burrito (SPICY) and the coffee is legit too (actual coffee machine not just drip). Super good and super convenient too if you're headed there for a cave tour (also HIGHLY recommend, but book a month in advance). They also sell cool souvenirs like shirts, magnets, stickers, etc. and the stuff is actually cool (as a millennial I considered them cool). They must have had some good graphic artists design them. read more

Our lodge/retreat recommended this place for breakfast. Got a really tasty green chilli breakfast burrito that was very filling. We ended up coming back for lunch. Draft beer!!!!! My wife got a blonde beer which was excellent. The mugs were sizeable and ice cold. I got an ipa which was decent (but was having beer jealousy over the blonde ale being so delicious.) My wife got the chicken bacon wranch wrap with fries. It tasted like America, just sayin'. But no joke, the chicken bacon ranch wrap was on point and the fries were perfectly crunchy. I had some type of fried hotdog with sauerkraut and man oh man was it soul fulfilling. There was so much sauerkraut fit on that bun. So much. If you're a pickled / vinegar fiend like me, you'll be in heaven. The bun itself had a really good glutinous bite texture to it and did not get soggy one bit. Dog was a good full beef mix that stood up well to the kraut powerhouse. There are hot sauces behind the counter you can ask for. I got the Carolina reaper one and it was surprisingly very tasty. Super hot, but somehow it did not give me a stomachs ache. I put a lot on my breakfast burrito. For my lunch meal, the hot dog and dill slaw, I poured a green habanero sauce all over the slaw. Tasted great but hurt like hell. I ended up buying some sauces at the gift store. They have the Great Basin label on them. Guess I'm a sucker for national park swag and good hot sauces. read more

My husband and I had lunch at Great Basin Café when we were in Great Basin National Park. It was about the only place open in the area. Don't count on much, if anything, being open in the adjacent town. I had the vegetarian nachos which were good, but not great. You might want to try something else. read more

Great food, friendly service. We especially love their french fries, made fresh from a whole potato right at the moment! The kids are also enamored with the soft-serve ice cream on a hot afternoon. This is a cute little cafe at the Lehman Caves Visitor center. When we visited Great Basin National Park, the visitor center was closed but cafe was still open. I was so grateful that it was open because there were so few lunch options available in the area. What a great meal! My husband had Smokehouse Salad. I ordered the Fried Chicken Wrap. A friend ordered the Smokehouse Wrap with brisket. The food was simple, fresh, and delicious. We really couldn't have asked for a better lunch. Unexpectedly good and much appreciated. The cafe also had an ample supply of board games for purchase and to borrow if you wanted to play at the cafe during your visit. We played 13 clues board game, which was a nice way to spend the afternoon. Since we visited in September during COVID-19, we chose to sit outdoors. I have been to 20 National Parks in the US and this has been my favorite food stop this far. The staff is really friendly. The food is awesome! I got the BLTA and my boyfriend got the buffalo chicken sandwich. We both finish every bite. Also the fries are delicious! They also sell interesting items that you don't find at a generic NP gift shop. And the view is incredible! read more
