I would give this review a 2.5 stars if I could. I ordered a pizza for myself since I was traveling for work. I originally planned on eating in the restaurant since I was staying in a hotel, but had to make a run for it once I got my order. Unfortunately, the place looks like it has not been swept or mopped in several weeks. The one single set of crushed pepper and cheese were smudged and dirty. The small "dining" area was disheveled and felt unclean. It also smelled inside as though they needed their drains cleaned out by a plumber. The pizza was very average. I had one half topped Chicago (Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushroom) and half Hawaiian (Ham, Pineapple, Green Pepper). The toppings were acceptable, but were not of the highest quality. Also, I somehow ended up with black olives on my pie and neither the Chicago, nor the Hawaiian are supposed to have them. The crust was decent. It had a less than stellar crunch factor and not a whole lot of taste. I will say the person who took my order (and cooked my pizza, and answered the phones) was very friendly. I would say this place would be good for carryout when you are in a pinch for a cheap meal for the kids. Call ahead if you are in a hurry. I noticed as I was waiting and the orders were coming in over the phone, the one person taking and making orders was getting a little overwhelmed and wait times quickly escalated to upwards of 40 minutes. read more

So for lunch today my gf and I were craving some pizza and I had never shown her GAP before so we decided to order it and have it delivered to our home. We ordered a cheese pizza with garlic crust a long with a pound of lemon pepper wings and breadsticks. The pizza and wings were delicious as usual! The reason for the 4 star instead of a 5 star like it definitely could have been is because 1) they forgot to bring the ranch and as you can see on the receipt I put, we did order it and pay for it 2) on the website the breadsticks are advertised as these cheesy bread looking items that I have gone in the past and next to the breadstick option it's a picture of said bread, when it arrived it was plain old breadsticks and not the ones pictures and I won't lie, I was pretty annoyed as if they were labeled correctly with the right picture, I would have never purchased these breadsticks. It's little stuff like that, that throws the whole thing off and honestly my rating would have been a 3.5 if Yelp did it by .5 instead of whole number reviews. Hopefully they update their website and know some of the photos may be incorrect and you might receive something completely different. Will we go back? We ordered take out from Great American Pizza and brought it home, about 20 minutes away. We were thankful that the pizza was still hot and fresh without being greasy. We got cheesesticks and a basic pizza, just pepperoni and mushrooms. The ingredients tasted great! The mushrooms didn't seem to be canned. There were only two people working, but it was still kick and cooked well. My boyfriend went inside to pick it up and said it was pretty nice and clean inside. Also, it was super affordable. Less than $15 before tax for a large pizza and cheesesticks. They seem to have some interesting specialty pizzas and a few pretty great deals as well. Definitely check them out! read more

Lately I've been doing a whole lot of eating out at trendy spots in the area that serve tapas and gourmet burgers and perfectly seasoned fries and ahi poke and creme brulee. So sometimes I just need a greasy, cheesy pepperoni pizza that I won't pay more than 10 bucks for. And if I fall in their delivery radius, even better. ***NEW DRINKING GAME: Take a shot every time you see 'and'*** I haven't dined-in, but once in a blue moon I'm up for making the trek to Great American Pizza and I pick it up myself (it saves me all of $3 + tips, is it worth it? I don't know) so I can tell you what to expect if that's your plan. GAP is quiet, no music, but they do have the tv on (usually very quiet or silent). I like the idea of this, you really can enjoy the company you're with without all the distractions. The place is clean and in a newer strip mall (strip mall minus the shopping, unfortunately for me). I've tried a different pizza every time we've ordered, but didn't realize until two or three weeks ago they offer different types of crust: Thin, pan, hand-tossed and probably two or three more kinds that I'm forgetting. The hand-tossed (which appears to be their original crust...or at least their go-to when you don't specify which you want) is good, but the pan crust is the BEST! I would say the pan is comparable to Pizza Hut pan in flavor (all buttery goodness) minus the ridiculous amount of grease that feels like it's seeping into your pores as you chow down. GAP does not skimp on the cheese or the toppings so prepare yourself for a completely loaded pie. Sure, the simple pizzas are good, but divulge your inner child and order a crazy concoction that was either thought up by the guys behind GAP or the six-year-old you (and if they don't have the ingredients you want on your crazy pizza, you can totally bring in whatever you want to GPA to be added). One of my faves [so far] has been the Texas something or other...topped with pepperoni, mushrooms and most importantly CHORIZO!!! The chorizo is placed on it how any other meat would be, so think spoty. I'm seriously debating ordering a straight chorizo pizza. I was looking at their Facebook and did notice they had a Mango Shrimp Pizza back in October. Fingers crossed this is still an option now, 'cause that sounds fricken goooooooooood. GPA is a pizza place, so what's a pizza place without wings and things? I have yet to try anything other than the pizza, but I'll make my way to the dark side of this pizza joint. I was initially skeptical of this place when it first opened as they were emphasizing their low prices on all the ads I saw of theirs, so I assumed their pizza couldn't be that good. That was an error on my part. Decided to go there today as I wasn't feeling any of my usual places (and because I took a different route home than usual), and wish I had gone sooner. I was quite impressed, and will certainly be back. I ordered to carry out, so I can't speak to the service you would get if you were to eat inside, but I was very pleased with the pizza. I ordered the San Antonio (essentially a meat lover's pizza--pepperoni, ham, sausage, beef, bacon, extra cheese) for $9.99 and it was definitely worth it. Opting for the garlic crust (at no additional cost) was another wise choice, as I then essentially had a tasty garlic breadstick to eat after each slice of pizza. The pizza itself was worthy as well, plenty of cheese and didn't skimp on the toppings. While this isn't the greatest pizza ever, it is still very good, and it is set to become one of my go-to pizza places here in El Paso (doubly so due to how close it is to home). Great taste at great prices. Just goes to show that you can't judge a book by it's cover (or in this case, a pizza by its marketing). Well done, Great American Pizza! Edit: Went back again, and the pizza was just as good as previously described. This time, however, I additionally ordered the cheese sticks, and I absolutely LOVED them. Went to get my oil changed and had the kid with me who was hungry, as usual. So walked around the corner to the pizza place that I have heard a lot about. It was a small place with a smallish seating area inside two small tables outside. There were lots of pizza choices and some wing. You can buy a slice of cheese or pepperoni for $2.50 a slice. Awesome right. Well the slices are huge. I ordered a pepperoni for me and a cheese for the kid. The pizza was delicious and hot out of the oven. I love Pizza and I mean if I could eat it all the time I really would. I first discovered this pizza place in Anthony, NM while volunteering at the Women's Intercultural Center. They had an event with another organization and they brought Great American Pizza. My first slice I was engulfed with the varsity of flavors but what stood out the most was the perfectly seasoned sauce and the garlic buttered crust. Instantly I tracked the place down and kept coming back. I would always order the family special. One large specialty pizza, one large one topping pizza, one pound of wings, an order of breadsticks, and a 2 liter of soda. His place was amazing and the specials absolutely killed any other pizza place. I personally would drive from El Paso to Anthony just for this pizza. Eventually though business just was not good enough in Anthony and he decided to close up shop and move away. Later on we got in touch and found out he moved to the Westside of El Paso and his business is thriving. I still continue to order the family special. I get to New Yorker which is basically like the works and I add jalapeno, a pepperoni pizza for my brother, a pound of hot wings. Let me tell you these wings are meaty and just downright. They're not spicy for me but taste amazing, but they are spicy for my mom so I think it varies from person to person. Also these are the only wings she likes from any pizza place. The family special also comes with the breadsticks which are handmade every morning and these babies are beasts. The first time I introduced my friend to them, he was like these things are huge. They are pretty big fat breadsticks and I highly recommend you try them with the homemade chipotle sauce they make. Yes breadsticks are usually with marinara sauce but trust me you need to experience the chipotle sauce. Lastly, the family special comes with a 2 liter of whatever you want and all of it is only 33 bucks and some change, and that's already including tax. This place is a must try if you have not already. I also highly recommend this place over all the other pizza places that deliver. Dominos, papa John's, pizza hut, etc, this place kills it. It has to with the variety if different ways they make their pizzas and the little touches such as garlic butter, making fresh breadsticks by hand every morning, making meaty wings, and personal recipes for the variety of sauces they have for the pizza, wings, and breadsticks is why this pizza place is so great. The owners name is George and he is a pretty awesome guy who I have befriended since the first time I came to his place. He even helped my non-profit fundraise a while back and just makes his business even more incredible, and offers specials if you buy his pizzas in bulk for your business or events. The regular pizza was good, but the GF sent us to the ER for a huge reaction. We've done GF pizzas from other restaurants before without issues, but I feel like they don't understand allergies, and their pizza was definitely not gluten free. All I gotta say is... D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S. D- is for the dough! The dough used here is perfect in my opinion. Not greasy, not crunchy, nor soggy, but just right. Cooked to perfection! E- is for the excitement I got when I finally had a pizza slice in my hand. God knows I was starving. My boyfriend and I work up the street from GAP, so he decided to pick it up instead of having it delivered. I was surprised to know it'd be ready in 20 min! --and it definitely was. L- is for the love of cheese I have in my itty bitty heart. This bad boy was covered with plenty of it. Great local pizza place! I have tried four of their pizzas and all of them where very good. I only have tried carry out so I don't know how they're service is when eating there. So far, one of the four times I had to wait a little longer for my pizza, but they usually are not crowded and you get your order quick. Also, their prices are good. Pretty tasty pizza and more options for toppings than other places. Shrimp mango, chipotle chicken, and the tuna are the favorite specialty pizzas at our house. The very best item we have ordered so far (and we get these every time) are the cheese sticks-they are completely loaded with browned, bubbley, melted cheese and come with a good size cup of tangy pizza sauce. Went here after doing a general search near where I live. We are new to El Paso so we took a chance. Pizza was surprisingly good, the dough was fresh not chewy or overly crunchy. Sauce had good flavor and had a decent amount of toppings on it. Service was great, guys at the counter are probably high school kids, but went out of their way to be helpful. The place isn't very big but has enough room to dine in - comfortable. I went with a toddler and an infant and had no issues. Prices are reasonable and have some good specials. read more
