The views are spectacular, rolling hills and so many colors of green and blue were breathtaking. Mile 9 was NOT our favorite mile. There is trail maintenance happening and that's a GOOD thing, but...the gravel is thick in many areas so riding the bike was sketchy at best. Thankfully it wasn't much more than that mile. I loved the train track right next to the trail and my prayers were answered when, lo and behold, a train appeared! It was stopped so as to clear a fallen tree but once removed (minutes) they were on their way. The train was filled with people who were happy to see bikers on the trail as we were happy to see, and wave at them. Great trail.

He said come on over, stayed open past time on Thursday 2 SEP to help two random out of town bicyclists. He not only helped but let me in the sacred space in the shop and showed me how to deal with the wheel on my Cannondale Topstone...I was afraid of the disc brakes [had tube, levers and pump], but had not practised removing a wheel or bothered to watch a YouTube video. I had spent 32 glorious miles on the GAP with my wonderful spouse...last 2 walked in cleats! Painful lesson on preparing ahead of time...so embarressed and me a boy scout and Army Vet. Thank you Hutch for your service in our brother USAF! Blessings always. I am sure this would be our go-to place if we lived anywhere within an hour...would be totally worth the drive.

I am a novice cyclist and not in great shape, but I made the 32 miles on the Old Allegheny bike trail (the last 22 miles were downhill) and 17 of the 35 miles on the C&O Canal. We had to cut the ride short to get back home. The views were beautiful and the rides were strenuous for me but easy for him. I didn't quit! Jason picked us and our bikes up and dropped us off. He gave us advice on what to look for. Gail, the owner of the business, spoiled us with beautiful bike-themed accommodations in the Decatur Inn. She also filled our bellies with a huge homemade breakfast each morning. We plan to go back. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. It was a great weekend.

This is Maryland's only ski resort. I have skied Wisp many times and always enjoyed it. Even when…read moreit's icy. This is my first visit in over a decade and the first time not during ski season. The hotel was like I remembered. The restaurant and bar are different than my last visit. Sadly, I can't report on those because they close at 8pm. Even on Friday & Saturday nights. Wisp needs to change that for weary travelers who want a beverage after a long drive. They did do an excellent job handling our group and catering our lunch. The group dinner was given good marks by my colleagues. I want to return to play the two golf courses and ride the alpine coaster.

We had a wonderful few days camping at Coopers Rock! The…read moresites are a good size and decently spaced apart so we have a good amount of privacy. The campsite bathroom was clean, well stocked and regularly maintained. All of the employees at the trading post were friendly as well! Park rangers drove around regularly (4-5 time through the campsite a day I'd say). My only wish would be adding closure information onto the website so people know ahead of time. During our visit the main overlook was under construction/maintenance so there was no access to it. Which was a little disappointing since it looks beautiful online! But it was a short 5 minute walk out to the overlook so it was easy to get back to a different trail. (It is clear the individuals who work and manage the park take great pride in it, and take care of the facilities wonderfully!).

The views…read morewere beautiful, the trails were well cleared, and the bathroom at the main overlook site was one of the cleanest bathrooms we've ever been in. The Ravens Rock trail has a beautiful outlook with cool, large rock structures. And the rock city trail was super fun too! The free maps of all the trails are very helpful. Some blazes could've been marked a bit clearer and some signs for trail heads could be adjusted as well. There is limited parking at trail heads so be sure to get there early to beat the crowds. The trading post was a fun addition with Coopers Rock merch, stickers (our personal fav), some local goods, firewood, some camping supplies, and even some ice cream treats! Overall we had a really nice stay!

My wife and I were on a mtb trip in the east coast, and when I asked the guy working there about some local trails he was a total a$$ hole and told me all the trails I was asking about were not real and couldn't give me any recommendations. It stuck with me, he wasn't pleasant, he didn't care to guide me to a dope trail, he just wanted to act like he was the local badass gatekeeper of the terrible trails they have in the area. Thank goodness I'm back in Colorado and would never ever go back to this shop with the attitude and lack of customer service this douche gave my wife and I.

I brought my bike in to Greenbrier Bikes today after a day on Marlin Mountain and Thorny Creek…read moreMountain, primarily to fix a problematic flat. They did that, but also fixed everything else on my bike within about 30 minutes. That squeaking that wasn't fixed by cleaning and relubricating the chain? They figured out that the pulleys needed lubricated, and two minutes later the squeaking was gone. The back light that loves to fall off? Now it's securely mounted. The one old tube that's salvageable? Now it's patched and I have a better patch kit than I did before. The rear brake bracket that I hadn't even realized was loose, but definitely was? Not loose anymore. I probably would have had to drop my bike off and pick it up a few days later if I'd scheduled an appointment back home, but at Greenbrier Bikes I got it back up to an A level quick enough that I was still able to see not only the Green Bank Telescope, but also do a 4.5-mile-each-way jaunt up Bald Knob with the bike to test out the fixes and catch a fantastic view. On that not-especially-easy test, it did just fine. Overall it cost something like $46, which is a bargain compared to the city bike shops. While they do offer tune-up packages (also at quite reasonable rates), I really liked that they will also take a, "what needs done? we'll fix it" approach. And they don't try to sell you things you don't need, either. That chain with 1700 miles on it? They checked, still good. The air pump that I haven't been impressed with? They could've sold me a new one, but instead showed me a setting I didn't know it had that should make it more effective. They're community-oriented too. On Thursday they were down in Stillwell for a community event, and the guy who fixed my bike is the same guy who clears the fallen trees from the mountain trails I'd traveled the day before. So if you're passing through Marlinton on the Greenbrier River Town, or are in town for any other reason with your bike, swing on by and have them take a look at whatever issues it has that have been bothering you. If it can be fixed quickly, you'll probably be back on the trail sooner than you thought possible, and you'll be helping a bike shop right by the trail as well.

Zen City!!!! It's an…read moreeasy little walk down to the falls. I've been here on days it is packed and the water flow is minimal and on days it's completely empty when the water is high. Either way, there are many ways to see the falls in all of its glory whether being above them or below them. I truly enjoy being close to the falls with the nice chill in the air by being under one of the many rock formations. It's a great place to cool off after a long day of hiking and/or biking at Ohiopyle. Check it out the next time you're in the area. Enjoy :D
