Ordered mozzarella sticks, which arrived hot to the table and were perfectly crisp. The mozzarella stretched out like taffy. Yum yum. The red sauce tasted home made (?).....not cloyingly sweet, more on the savory side. The pepperoni pizza arrived piping hot and just how (in my opinion) a pizza pie should be made: loaded with mozzarella, topped with just-right amounts of thin pepperoni slices (crispy on the edges). The pie crust was airy and light, just a hint of sweet. Ended the meal by having a lovely conversation with the owner, Mike, who saw us sipping on Pepsis and promptly brought us over a sample of their signature, locally-made root beer.....made with real sassafras and HONEY. It was delicious!! Can't wait to return for another round of today's eats.

Pioneer Pizza!! Under new ownership and They are back! And dare I say it..... better than ever?…read moreThis place is nostalgic for me. Im an old and we used to go here when it was a sit down restaurant in the trinity barn in the way back time. Those of you that know, know that they have a little something different- the crust has a n almost floury yeasty crackle but the inside is so soft and sweet. Its still there that signature crust. Toppings were super generous and higher quality - BUT OHMYGOSH THE BREADSTICKS! they have changed and they are FAR FAR better than the OLD breadsticks. So fluffy and garlicky and buttery and cheezy and they gave me so much SAUCE. I would always have to jealously hoard the sauce in the old days. Also the service. These poor guys were having their buttcheeks handed to them. Tickets streaming out of the online ordering system reminiscent of that scene in "the bear" when everything is going wrong. Except these guys were excited and as calm as you can be in that situation and they were making it happen. The poor old dad on the new system I just warnted to give him a beer and a recliner great food. Great service and people are noticing and they are so busy so tip them good! It was the first time we actually slowed down to enjoy the food we were eating! It was so savory and cooked properly! Theres not an overwhelming amount of ingredients that just fall off either. The place is small (small kitchen & counter service) but OMG - the dough is made in house and the guys working behind the counter were pretty cool even when busy!
