Outstanding Service from Cesar at Grease Monkey - Sycamore, IL Our car started acting up while we were traveling, and we stopped at Grease Monkey in Sycamore -- I'm so glad we did. Cesar helped us out, and his customer service was truly exceptional. We had been on the road for a few hours and discovered our engine had little to no oil. Cesar took the time to find the issue and explained everything clearly. He let us know that we were safe to get back on the road and confirmed that nothing was wrong with the oil plug -- the issue was that the previous oil change place hadn't tightened it all the way. He was very thorough, checking all of our fluids and the battery as well. Everything looked good, and for once, I didn't feel pressured to replace a battery or air filter just to upsell services. That meant a lot. Service was quick and we were back on the road to our destination in no time. I'm so thankful this turned out not to be a huge issue. This has gone seriously down hill. Wife brought Jeep in for oil change Saturday. Drives it straight home and parks it. When I come home late Saturday night, I see a huge puddle under jeep. They are closed Sunday. I bring it in today, and they tell me it happens all the time. It is a defective owing on oil filter that is a result from the filter sitting on shelf for so long. I now have oil all over an otherwise pristine driveway. Their solution, change out filter (probably for another old one) and offer me a gift certificate. We have brought most of our vehicles, from both work and home, and sent many people here. No more. Our customers have started telling us of ongoing problems and we have noticed poorer and poorer service on our vehicles. No offer of a refund even though I now have to take the vehicle elsewhere and have the work redone, have the expense of cleaning driveway all for a problem they acknowledge exists. Oh, and when I left, even the offer of a gift certificate, which I would never have used, was recinded. NEVER AGAIN. read more

BEWARE!!!! Back in March the actual owner whos name is Phil did a basic oil change. He Didn't put the oil plug back on correctly and months later it fell out causing my engine to seize. I no longer have a car. He said he would take care of it through their insurance. But then their shady ass insurance company (Travelers Insurance) denied the claim. They sent out a woman who doesn't know shit about cars to do an inspection on my vehicle which should have been my first clue that this was going to go south. And of course insurance companies are a scam, so days after the inspection they ruled it wasn't Grease Monkeys fault. However When I went to the actual dealership where the car was, They informed me that they told the insurance company that it was due to a bad oil change. Grease Monkey and their insurance company flat out lied to me to avoid taking responsibility for their shitty work! Guys DO NOT GO THERE! I'm currently in the process of hiring an attorney. If you go there and they damage your car THEY WILL NOT DO THE RIGHT THING! You have been warned! read more

Came here for a quick oil change on my lunchbreak. The lube boy pulled me to the side and started telling me his take on mechanical issues with my vehicle. I told him i was already aware of issues with my vehicle and that i would handle them and that i just needed my oil change.. he took offense to this and started getting angry and told me that he wasnt going to change my oil. I didnt have time to argue so i got in the car and went down the road to another place. Upon arriving i was informed that the guy had drained all my oil (completely empty) and failed to inform me that he had done this before i left. Great printable coupons, super fast service, clean waiting room with free bottled water and Keurig and +2 flat screens showing college hoops. The only thing that I didn't like was that they used what seemed to be watered down wiper fluid that froze when the temps got below 20 degrees. This is my new go to place for work I need on my car. What I really love about this shop is that they are friendly, informative, and quick. As someone who knows how to turn the car on and that's about it, I really appreciate that they'll sometimes take the time to explain what they are doing and how the parts they just replaced work so that I know more for the future. On that note, they generally don't try to upsell you and don't take advantage of those of us who know little about cars. For an oil change they will have you in and out in around a half hour or so, whereas I used to wait at least an hour at other places in town. Mechanical work will take a bit longer and you may want to call ahead to ask about it (Otherwise you will be waiting longer while the parts are ordered and delivered if they are not on hand) and for those times you do have to wait longer, they have a nice waiting area with free coffee and water. It can get a little warm in there, so keep that in mind if you know you'll be there for a while. This is also one of the few places in the area that has Saturday hours, so if they can do what I need here, it is absolutely my first choice over anywhere else in town because of how nice they are. read more

Wow! Talk about a hidden gem! Until today, I had gotten my oil changed at Wal-Mart or Farm n' Fleet, and was used to having to wait an hour to an entire day (no kidding!) Grease Monkey had me out in less than 15 minutes. The fellows working on Saturday afternoon were very cordial and efficient. Twenty bucks is a great price especially since they vacuumed the car and checked all the fluids. They also didn't try to upsell me on unneeded services the way other similar rapid oil change places have done in the past (I'm looking at you Jiffy Lube!) Just stopped at the Grease Monkey for my first time. I must say I will probably never return there again. As I pull to the back of the building I see an employee limping around with a very poor attitude, they have vehicles in both bays so as I approach the employee acknowledged I was there. I at this point am expecting him to point to the bay he would like me to pull up to, but instead he yells out to me "you need to pull up, I'm not walking". At this point I still don't know what bay he wants me to pull up behind, so I just pull up to the one directly in front of me. I'm then greeted with this same poor attitude employee who proceeds to say to me "what do you need", I tell him I would like an oil change, he then replies with "well it's going to be 15-20 minutes before I can get you in so leave your keys in the car and just go wait up front". He then just walks away, I decided I'm not going to be spoken to with the attitude he is giving me so I left and went down the street to a different place. I am at your place of business to PAY you to do a service on my vehicle, if you're employees don't have customer service skills then maybe greeting customers is not the position they should be in. The bottom line is I didn't use your facility this time and I won't be using it anytime in the near future! read more
