I know nothing about cars and I hate dealing with cars. The people at Grease Monkey showed me the oil stick and explained what they were showing me. They checked filters and tires. The back passenger tire was low so they put air in it and changed one filter. They showed me exactly what they were doing and explained why they were doing it. Our Mazda CX-5 they did not add fuel, and the next day our car seized and we were sh*t out of luck. Next my Camry when rotating the tires they lost a hubcap, and thankfully the male employee (upon rowers) paid for a new set, which is the obvious solution co side rig. He either installed it improperly or solidly left it behind at the shop. Then when I returned, the female employee with cracked teeth tried to guilt me about the situation as though I forced this issue. Then a few days ago, I went back for an oil change because they are so close to our house and asked if they could do it in 45 minutes. The store was 100% empty, and then female employee said no way could they do that. An oil change takes 15-20 minutes. Ok fine, lie to me like a child. Whatever. But then when she was walking back she started pointing at me in a patronizing way as if to say "oh yea we remember you and your scams." Besides being around $100 for an oil change (which is just unreal), the female employee there is beyond unprofessional and rude as h*ll. Why anyone would continue to go there is beyond me, despite the fact I went there several times purely out of proximity. if zero stars was an option I would happily choose it. Went to Grease monkey yesterday instead of the dealership (dealership told me I'd have to wait up to 2 hours for rotation, and oil change) went to grease monkey took them up to 20 minutes. Guys there were friendly, helpful! Car got done in a timely fashion, and was able to run over to Meijer to pick up a few things! It's supposed to be "customer appreciation day" today went to get an oil change not that "customer appreciation day" mattered It was time to get an oil change.. I have an engine that holds 5 qts I know this because I've changed my own oil and it took 5 qts. The sign on the door says "5 Quart Max" yet I was charged 7$ for an extra quart. So were the 2 people in front of me I heard the guy say we added another quart 2 times before me. Then he said it to me. Called him out he was speechless.... My mom had her tires on warranty till the end of october 2019 she showed up early october to let them know she needed new tires and they said they would get back to her. she kept on calling every week and management would blow her off, give excuses, and bully her on the phone! TODAY 2 MONTHS LATER HER TIRE FINALLY BLEW OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND SHE COULD'VE BEEN HURT! My stepfather got new brakes and rotators etc about a month or so ago. While driving on the expressway his car locked up and stopped moving the car was towed to a nearby place to figure out the problem. Upon investigation, the bolts that hold the break pads fell off He brought the car back to grease monkey to tell them what happened...and to have the other wheels checked and they said the manager was out to lunch ... which was 30 minutes before they closed. So he went back later that week... they doubled checked the nuts and bolts. They were just like "idk what you want us to do"??? Really?!? How about do the work right! He could have died on the road. Made a visit for a regular oil change on my wife's car. It wasn't busy as it was mid day on a weekday. The whole process was done in less than 20 minutes and I was out the door. You can find coupons on their website to bring the price down $10. Waiting room was a little dirty and could certainly use a vacuuming, but everyone was pleasant and I'll more than likely be back again for her next oil change. Make sure to call and check on the price for your car though. I asked about my VW and it was $100 for the synthetic change it needs, which is at least $40 more than I normally get at the dealer or a local shop near my house. Seems a bit absurd. read more

The workers at this location were treating me very rudely when I denied the air and cabin filter services. I told them I could do those on my own and they got an attitude with me immediately. A couple days ago I saw oil leaking from under my vehicle and I took it to the dealer to get it checked up on. They didn't properly do the oil change and I had to pay for another oil change at the dealer. I called and the manager kept telling me I didn't know what I was talking about. I don't recommend this establishment because of their crap service and crap employees. read more

I took my car here because it was close to home. I thought it would be good to try a new place. Wow was I wrong. I had to ask about there time guarantee (which they missed) to come home to find no oil in the car and the windshield wiper guild not filled and left open. I asked them to check the tires, nope that wasn't done either. Everyone seemed nice which is the only reason it gets one star. I honestly don't even know if they changed the oil, but I do know they cut the transmission dipstick and a month later it fell down and dragged on the ground. I took my car back to the dealarship and sure enough, a very obvious clean cut. I will never come here again. I paid to have my oil changed because my husband wasn't able to do it as he usually does. We just went to change the oil again and they cross threaded my drain plug. It is completely stuck, we've been banging on it with vice grips and a hammer for 15 mins and the plug will not even budge. I now have to pay to take it in to a shop and have it taken out and redrilled. So now my fast and cheap oil change has cost me way more than it should have. I brought my car in on a Saturday. I had a coupon for a free break inspection and was going to get an oil change. They couldn't do the break inspection because there was another car on the only lift. They told me to come back tomorrow. I told them to forget about the brakes, just do the oil change. I then told them I was going to go across the street to get some coffee. They told me I couldn't leave. I asked them what that meant. They said "we don't do drop offs". I explained I'd never heard that at any oil change place. They reiterated "no drop offs, Boss". I have very mixed feelings. As per usual there were things they told me I should get done or buy extra. I hate that with a passion. I came for an oil change I don't need extra anything. Also for the first time ever I was told there was an up charge for the oil canister. Never had to pay that before, after questioning it they took the charge off. They didn't have the timer working or the price chart tv thing. I paid at least $20 more for an oil change than I ever have. I won't be back. The staff was nice enough but up charges and add ons are extremely frustrating. Plus as a women who used to do her own oil changes I hate being talked to like I'm a dumb blonde. read more

For the sake of your car, I do not recommend this place. Went in during a weekday to avoid long lines and all I wanted was an oil change. I was in a hurry and had a ride so I could drop my car off and take care of other errands, they required I stay with my car, which isn't a reason for a bad review but that was just the start. So we sit in the waiting room and they call me out to the garage, i walk out with the kid and they've got everything under my hood disassembled, trying to sell me transmission fluid and air filters and all that. I explain that I'm in a hurry and need just an oil change. Sit for another 10 minutes and they call me out again trying to sell more stuff. At this point I'm frustrated and explain again that all I want is an oil change. They finish and I get my car back and go on my way- a bit frustrated and then noticing that they filled my tires up past the psi rating. The following day I start my car and it's making strange noises. Open up my hood to see oil spilled all over everything. Upon further investigation I realize the oil cap wasn't even screwed back in because when they took the cover off my motor they didn't reinstall it properly and couldn't get the cap to sit over it right. Didn't bother telling me. Meanwhile the noise my car is making is from them not properly reinstalling my air filter housing. So- basically I paid $70+ for an oil change and left with a bunch of unrelated issues with things they shouldn't have even touched. read more

I would NOT recommend this place to any woman as I feel they try to take advantage and charge more. My husband has been going to Grease Monkey in Round Lake for a couple of years, and has never had any issues. However, they charged me $18 more for an oil charge than what they originally quoted me on the phone, citing the reason as I needed a new oil filter (don't all oil changes provide a new filter?!) They also tried telling me that all my other filters needed replacing, when only one was actually needed. I told them I did not want the filters, however, the worst part was they actually broke off part of the plastic around my glove box trying to check the filters!! They didn't even have the nerve to tell me-I just saw the piece of plastic that they left sitting on the dash. So, I was left paying $130 for an oil change and tire rotation, and had a gaping hole next to my dash thanks to them. Luckily, my husband was able to finagle the pieces together enough that he was able to fix the hole, but I don't know what I would have done if I was single. Don't go to this place, they overcharge women and damaged my barely two year old car! read more

I had to get my rear brakes fixed before I drove my daughter to college so I came here. They were understaffed due to a call-in but Rory took my Town and Country van and worked on it for hours. He managed to manually fix a part of my wheel that would have cost $$ if he wasn't able to fix it. He manually worked it out and didn't even charge me for that. I bought the van that way and had no idea! The service is OUTSTANDING. These guys are polite, professional, and about as honest a group of mechanics I've ever seen. I have had everything done there from fixing the a/c, brake replacements, and oil changes and because the service is so thorough, I wouldn't even consider going somewhere else if Grease Monkey was available! I'm not even sure of all the names of the mechanics, but they are ALL extraordinary. *Part of why I love GM so much is bc I used to go to Midas in Gurnee, but I'd go in for an oil change and they'd call me and say I needed 10 other things done and my "oil change" turned into a $300 affair--3 times in a row. I finally found a garage I can trust; that's worth the moon! :) read more
