We are traveling through and needed just a oil filter change (without an oil change) for our truck and they could turn around quick. Make sure you get the right guy - we showed up and one of the crew suggested a way more tedious and time consuming way to do it which would cause us to waste all the oil we have and having to buy new oil.Thankfully the right person came by and told us he knew how to do it otherwise . On 4/23/2026 I went to get an oil Change. Been going there for more that 5 years. I got all Set up for the express oil change. I was told it was national oil change day so they were busy. I followed the line. A hour later I was one away from the first stall: I sat in my vehicle for about ten minutes. I was approached by a female employee who said there was another vehicle before me, some parked car with someone insdie the business. What happened to the express oils change ? 30 or under ? watching the new employees in the pit area messing around dancing and really not getting work done really added to my frustration. I left a review on Google for the Grease Monkey on Channing way in Idaho Falls about my horrible experience at this store, and someone who represented themselves as "Owner-Grease Monkey" replied to my review. It isn't the owner who actually responded but the manager there, Chris, who I've been working with the whole time and I already tried to express my frustration with what happened and he is not sympathetic or willing to fix or find a solution to this issue and all the damage and mistakes they made to my vehicle. I don't have an option to reply to his comment, so instead of trying to leave another poor review under a different email address, which I'm sure he'd report and get taken down- I hope someone from there sees this too- The man, Chris, who responded to my review under the false title "owner" isn't that at all. He's also not an "objective and uninvolved party". I shouldn't be surprised because it is clear that there is no code of honesty and respect here. You are completely aware of what happened because Chris, you are the main person I dealt with there, the person that I first put my trust into. I never ever told you my power steering pump didn't work, I told you that yes, it had an issue and was leaking, but when I brought my vehicle to you, I was able to drive it. You also drove it and knew how the car felt to drive. The problem here is that from the very beginning, if you or your mechanic would've been honest- none of this would be a problem. I took your exact advice, when you brought me my quote, you had highlighted the two items that had to be fixed for my car to be drivable. Yes, you did tell me that the rack and pinion needed to be fixed as soon as possible but it would be okay to leave it. When you 1st "finished" my car, and got it pulled out of your garage there, YOU 100% with absolutely no possibility of not knowing, KNEW that there was still a problem & it was actually even worse than before. At that point, you guys could have done the right thing- tell me hey- I think the rack and pinion were worse off than we thought and it needed to be replaced now. But no, instead you sent me on my way, with a car that was about to fall apart. You really really should've done that.. but we soon discovered- the power steering pump didn't work at all, the stabilizer bar was done incorrectly and made it impossible for the wheel to turn, a bolt was broken causing my steering wheel to spin all the way around, and in the meantime, my air bags were all disengaged because of that. Mistakes were corrected and also admitted. But, then the passing of the buck began. My car sat there Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and finally Monday.. you said it was all fixed. I tried talking to you about it in the store and you told me you never did anything wrong, I didn't listen, I broke the things that were broken and it was my fault- goodbye. I now have to pay at least another $1,400 to a different mechanic who not only has to replace the power steering pump that you guys "replaced" and didn't even fill with fluid the last time you sent me on my way, the huge mess you made under my hood; leaving the belts covered in fluid, oil, and whatever else, and also a $450 clock spring to fix my disengaged air bags. I have proof of everything you quoted me, everything you've said and taken back along the way, all the paperwork I've been given that also shows none of my dash lights were on at the time I brought you the vehicle. And you show the morals, values, and worthiness of your customers by misrepresenting yourself and pointing fingers at me for my car being broken the way it is. You could've been honest on day #1, but getting off of work for the day and enjoying the holiday was all that was on your mind. You've done me so dirty, and it sucks because I feel like I'm betraying the friends I have there by shining a negative light on your business. Especially cause I know they are fantastic employees who actually do their jobs & care about customer satisfaction. This isn't just going to go away. If I could speak with the ACTUAL owner about the situation, meet in the middle and give me something for what you took away from me- things wouldn't be this way. Really hate to put a bad review out here, but this Greese Monkey has left us with a car that is not drivable. Should have known better to get something other than an oil change. They advised the car needed a new power steering pump, new stabilizer bar, and the rack and pinion needed work. They specifically wrote out that to be drivable that the pump and stabilizer bar had to be done. 1st pump they put on didn't work. 4 days and $600 dollars later, it is still impossible to drive the pump isn't working and now something is broke on the air bags. It's an old car, knew it needed a pump, but at this moment we are at a loss of what to do and they are saying it's our problem. Horrible communication and workmanship and they are not owning up to any problem they caused. Need the money paid back to take it to another mechanic. They have left us in a horrible mess. read more

Sent my young daughter....into grease monkey for a tire rotation and oil change. $1200 later she had new belts, rear differential, transmission, fuel system, and brake service. Don't send your daughter here without someone who knows what a car needs. They made her feel like if she didn't do every one of these services today her car would have permanent damage. These guys said they would be able to get me squared away, stating to show up early at 7:45 as we did per Dylan's instructions. We had warranty work from another mechanic they said they would honor, and after running our codes, we were told they were able to do it. We show up the next day, nobody on site had any clue what was going on. Their mechanic wasn't on site till 9, so I waited. Expected a call, but didn't get an answer till 1:30, stating they don't do muffler work, but they ran my codes again and gathered the information they already had evidence of from the day before. They not only wasted my time, as I couldn't get service from a better shop till the next day, they also tried to charge me 50 bucks for diagnostics. Get F***** Grease Weasels. Best part of all, I overheard the manager state that the many types of oil they use to change their customers engine oil, have been mismatched, so whether you are getting standard grade oil or premium grade, you may not be getting what you are paying for. Just a bunch of dopes at this shop, don't waste your time and money. read more

Watch out if you want an honest or correct inspection. Took our F150 in for an inspection and fluid overhaul 2 weeks before a cross country road trip. We received a full, clean bill of health. Day before the trip we discovered an obviously old rear differential oil leak. Took it back in and they "fixed" it. Now we are sitting 300 miles away in a reputable shop as they actually fix the problem. Of course there is oil all over the back end of our truck and the front of our trailer, we are now paying another bill, our trip is completely derailed, and the mechanics report is this is an obviously old problem that should been easily caught by even a novice mechanic. If you're looking for trustworthy good quality work or if you don't already know your way around cars I would strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more

This rating is quite disappointing. Prior to yesterdays' experience, I would have given 5 star reviews. I'm 76 and fairly new to Idaho Falls. Finding a reliable and honest repair shop is not easy and I was delighted to have found Grease Monkey. My previous experiences with this shop have been very positive. They did an oil change and wheel alignment. Both done very efficiently. Then yesterday happened. I needed another oil change and expected the same service. Starting off, a man came to me to see what level of oil and service I preferred. I selected the highest oil grade and service level. Shortly after, he was back showing me my 2 air filters to see if I wanted to change them. One was, in my opinion, okay and gave permission to change the inside filter only. Shortly after that, he was back again. This time showing me that the front and rear differentials needed service according to Subaru maintenance guidelines. I gave consent to have both serviced. Back he came again. This time to tell me my front right wheel was out of alignment. I asked how this was possible since their shop had just done a wheel alignment. He said he'd speak with the mechanic, however, he told me one pothole can put my wheels out of alignment. He came back and told me the mechanic would give me a discount on the wheel alignment. This time I pushed back. I explained that I drive the car very little and I've been extremely careful about potholes and couldn't believe I'd need another alignment. I asked him to look up my records and sure enough. The alignment was 2 months old, which he reminded me that the warranty expires after one month, and I had only driven 800 miles. Again, he offered the mechanics discount. I wasn't buying it so finally he suggested they run the car through the diagnostics again. Lo and behold, it wasn't out of alignment after all! When I first entered the office, there were 3 people in the waiting room. When I left there were many more and my service took much too long. Fortunately, I met a nice woman to talk to so the waiting was made a little easier. Time to check out: The cashier was pleasant and went over all the work that was done. The list of parts included replacing the engine filter, which I had declined. Of course, he removed the cost of that filter. At this point, I'm pretty unhappy, but I still have good manners and I explained to him my issues of the day. He apologized and did what he could. He gave me a $10.00 discount. This was a nice gesture, I suppose, but I'd rather not have had the experience. Now the cashier walked me to my car, opened the hood to show me what work that had done. He remarked on how clean I keep my car including the engine. Then I noticed the front window. It was all smeary with oil. So then the fellow who does the windows, etc. was called over. He recleaned the window and apologized. I was gracious in accepting his apology. I left feeling I'd been hustled. It felt as though they thought they had an old woman who doesn't know any better and maintains her car so we can tell/sell her anything. I truly wish this hadn't happened. Now, I'm on the hunt for a new repair shop again. read more

We went without an appointment for an oil change and they did a full check up and we ended up leaving with a new air filter, wipers, tires rotated, etc after recommendations. They walked us inside to a waiting area with drinks and cookies and when we left, we noticed they had vacuumed, taken out some trash, and cleaned the windows. I needed to get my car serviced. They took my car in as soon as they can, and the wait wasn't long at all. I went in the next week to get my transmission fluid changed. I get a call a couple days later letting me know they ordered a new plug for my transmission fluid plug with no extra charge. It took a little longer to get it changed but not too long. All the workers are especially friendly and knowledgeable. Also they are never pushy with getting things added to your service. read more

When I was asking about the situation, the manager was not even apologetic. He told me I supposed to wait that long because there are cars before me. He even questioned me why I didn't argue earlier. This being my first visit at this location, I was greeted promptly, courteously, and with my previous visits to other sites-they had my information pulled up within less than a minute. Being from out of area, I had used grease monkey in my home state and was looking forward to getting an oil change while doing business. I elected to stay in the car, and I was continually updated by multiple employees as to the status of my vehicles fluid levels, battery charge, air filter and I even had custom window washing done by a dedicated employee. Pricing was fair and they offered me a $10 discount and I was able to be in and out of the facility within 15 minutes. I would highly recommend this location, the staff, management and especially the corporate teamwork approach which they call their "pit crew." The main thing I didn't like was how much they tried to sell me. Two of the workers kept asking me to have them fix something on my car. Things not related to an oil change at all. I've been going to grease monkey for a couple years now. However lately I haven't been the most impressed. The staff is always very friendly. However, I've been quoted "about 20-30 minutes" the last two time I've gone for a service and been there for 1.5-2 hours. I have a couple of friends who say the lines at jiffy lube and Walmart have been just as long as mine for grease monkey and they're out of there in 35-40 minutes. They give you cookies and drinks while you wait, however I think 1-1 1/2 hours of my life are worth more than the refreshments. read more

What a non professional establishment. Quote me $45 for an oil change and walk out paying $75. They tried to tell me I needed a cabin filter and a tranny flush which was just done a month ago. Charged me extra for synthetic oil before consulting with me. Get home and park the car and now have old oil dripping off the bottom of the engine bay. Oh yeah, and they did not reset the computer on the dash to remind me to change the oil so that's still chimes every time I start the car. Next time I'll just take it to the Honda dealership for the same or cheaper price, at least I know the process was done properly. Thanks a lot Grease Monkey! Can I just say-- wow. They are amazing. We've taken our cars to get our oil changed at the dealership and Grease Monkey in 3 different cities in 2 states. This is by far the best place we've ever gone. Their service was above and beyond. They were knowledgeable and kind. They had free drinks and yummy cookies. They also gave flowers to both me and my daughter. Way to make us feel nice! They chatted with us while we were waiting, but they weren't overbearing which was good. They had a kid area with books and a TV. I loved the glass by the pit because there were actually bar stools so we could sit and watch them work instead of just standing there watching. The week we went they had free vacuuming. They even vacuumed our kids' car seats. Both my husband and I, and our kids, were impressed. Needless to say, we'll be back! read more

I would like to come back maybe we can work something out I feel that if they focused as much time as they do trying to upsell you on other items as they do on getting the oil changed and other items done then I wouldn't be writing this review my complaint was not once did they inform me that I needed a premium oil filter it's a minivan not some BMW or jaguar car and then to get the charge without being informed is what frustrated me it's like I take my car to get new tires well why they we're doing my tires they decided to go ahead and replace my brakes and rotors and upgrade to premium tires all without your consent then it comes time to check out and your expecting to pay for the basic tires then they are oh yeah by the way we decided to get you some premium tires even though you told them to do basic and then your charged for those premium tires plus the extra brakes and rotors. read more

Its easy to do an oil change but when your motto is 17 minutes or less... It can get sloppy. We are out of a car now that keep in mind we had just bought a couple months ago. Hard blow. All of the oil leaked through a broken oil filter cap within days.. Running the motor dry and causing it to knock.. that was their doing. Tried taking it in and discussing with them, handled very unprofessionally and at the end locked our car in the garage with the owner stating he hoped it blew up. Great customer service and values. Went for a oil and fuel filter change on my f250 SD diesel and they did it. They also left everything electrical on and parked the truck so I could pay for the service and when I came out to leave one of the guys came up to me to say the batteries were not cranking the engine well - almost nil - and that they happen to have batteries in stock for $126 each. I declined his offer and noticed that the lights AC fan, radio were on with the key in the AC position which is something I never do. In starting the vehicle it b a r e l y started when it had been running without a glitch days before and all that morning. I drove to a auto electric / battery shop in town and they tested both batteries and the testing indicated both batteries were in good to better than good condition but the batteries were low probably as a result from being drained or run down having had the lights etc being left on without the engine running. I can not recommend the Grease Monkey at this location based on my experience and I do not plan on using any service they offer again. At times like this I am glad there is Yelp. read more
