I want to emphasize that our decision not to purchase had nothing to do with him. We were ready to sign the paperwork and pay for the vehicle in full. The car was new to the lot and had not yet been detailed, and there were a couple of minor items that still needed attention, including a window issue and a repair to the center console. We were completely comfortable purchasing the vehicle with those items outstanding; we simply asked for the promised work to be documented on a We Owe before signing. Instead, the sales manager initially wanted us to rely on a signed repair estimate/receipt. When I explained that I wanted the dealership's obligation to complete the repairs documented in the purchase paperwork, he became defensive and told us that the dealership prides itself on "trust and honesty." This was particularly frustrating because the dealership's own disclosures state that vehicles are sold as-is and that verbal promises are not binding. If I am being asked to sign paperwork protecting the dealership by stating that verbal promises do not count, it is entirely reasonable for me to expect the dealership's promises to me to be documented in writing as well. When I continued to insist on a We Owe, the interaction became unnecessarily confrontational, so we walked out. Our salesman actually followed us outside and was able to draft the We Owe we had requested, demonstrating just how simple this could have been from the beginning. What should have been an easy five-minute conclusion to an otherwise positive experience instead cost the dealership an immediate cash sale. It also cost them a future sale, as my father was planning to purchase his next vehicle there as well and will now be shopping elsewhere. Again, our salesman was excellent, and I genuinely regret that his manager's handling of such a straightforward and reasonable request cost him the sale. We were ready to sign and pay. All we wanted was for the dealership to put its already-promised repairs in writing.

EXTREMLY RUDE OWNER/TRIES TO SELL SERVICES YOU DON'T NEED!!!…read more I have been taking my VW here for a few years. At first I was very happy with the customer service and the work seemed solid. I'm a local and I like to support local businesses. However recently I had a very large and expensive job done. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle I ran into a few problems 1) a received a laundry list of items the car still needed to have done, I would have happily paid Cattle Creek to do these items when the car was in the shop instead of driving an additional 80 miles round trip, again, to do the recommended repairs. I was told by the owner quite rudely that I would need to bring it back in 2 weeks time again to do the repairs, very inconvenient. I made an appointment nevertheless 2) When I got into my vehicle there was a small latch broken in the center console that was not broken when I dropped it off here's where we get into problems...the owner Richard told me he couldn't be responsible for everything that breaks in my car and that he would "price it out" keep in mind this is a $16 part that takes under 30 seconds to repair and I had just paid him a cool $1347 and he felt compelled to argue with me about this part. He then proceeded to tell me all of the additional work my car needed. 3) I said ok, booked the service appointment 2 weeks out and agreed to come back. I then called him later that day and expressed my unhappiness with his terrible customer service and again the owner Richard was extremely rude and argued with me finally after 2 calls he agreed to fix the latch for free when I brought the car back 4) Fast forward 2 weeks, Richard originally quoted me at $375 for a 20,000mi check up and that would include the vacuum lines I needed. I said I didn't need an oil change (the manual says 10,000mi Richard says I should do 5,000mi I said no thanks) 5) I arrive at Cattle Creek Vdubs and now the 20,000mi check up without the oil change is $300 (fine same price as VW dealership in Glenwood Springs, yes I checked and got a written estimate) but the vacuum lines would be an additional $375 I said no thanks I'll get a second opinion. Richard did have a mechanic fix my latch for free. 6) I take my VW to the dealership in Glenwood Springs and get the 20,000mi check up at a cost of $300. They also agreed to check the vacuum lines. Here is the kicker the VW dealership said the vacuum lines were in fine working order and didn't need to be replaced.... 7) But there's more, I also had a break strip out that I requested Cattle Creek V dubs fix, Richard came back with a $350 estimate which at this point I feel he is just pulling out of the air, and tells me the motor on the rear hatch must be fixed, the latch and the rear top break strip...VW dealership fixed the latch for $60, i was told by Richard the trunk hatch could not be fixed for under $350 8) All told Richard tried to sell me $700 worth of services the VW dealership said I didn't need. Keep in mind I had been using Cattle Creek Vdubs for over 3 years. I have to thank Richard for being a complete jerk to me. If he had not I would still be overpaying for services my car didn't need. Make your own decision. Mine is to not overpay total jerks who try to blatantly rip you off.
