I've had several dinners here when traveling to Hazleton. A cozy atmosphere with a friendly staff and good food.

Elis - Angel hair pasta w 2 meatballs

Wow. The portions are enormous! I started w a side salad…read morewith the house dressing, a must!, served with warm rolls. I ordered the angel hair pasta with two meatballs. When I say that I probably have 5 lb of pasta on my plate, I am not lying or exaggerating. The meatballs takes like a mix of veal or pork and beef - delicious. Meaty but not heavy. The pasta sauce was a little spicy but nothing mouth scorching. Again delicious. My friends got the grilled tilapia and there's probably three very large pieces of tilapia served with a lemon wedge and another side of angel hair pasta, again at least a pound of pasta in the side. They had the French onion soup, a hearty very beefy based soup with a giant slab of cheese on the top. My friends loved it. My other friends had the pork cutlet which was a hammered piece of pork lightly fried, and the size of a dinner plate served with a side of beef gravy, and also a side of angel hair pasta. Portions are ridiculous and I'm from the south I know huge portions. Lol If you come here though don't come in a hurry, as the staff is very busy. I didn't get her name but she was the only one working the floor. Efficient, direct and friendly. If you leave hungry it is your fault. Enjoy!

We found this place because I was looking for somewhere I could get a beer and walk out and around the town of Jim Thorpe (I believe they allow it here). But ended up staying for the vibes and plus we were super hungry. I wish I remembered our waitresses name but I believe she had pink in her hair. She allowed me and my girlfriend to sample some beers that she thought we would like because we were hesitant and what to order. We got the sangria sour beer and the white ale which were perfect for us. We also saw online that everyone loved the smash burger so we had to try it. We added truffle fries for 3 dollars which was so worth it. Some of the best fries we have ever had. Also I think we decided it was the best smash burger we have ever had. We both have never tried bacon jam and we were a bit hesitant about the pimento cheese as well. I think my favorite moment from this trip was sitting at the bar here and eating this meal. Plus the burger lived up to the hype. Thank you to the waitress we had you made our day!

We visit Jim Thorpe annually and were excited to try this place given its vegan options. When we entered the restaurant, the set-up was a little confusing. They did seat us pretty quickly though, and the service was probably the only positive to this experience. My husband and I both ordered cocktails; he had the Manhattan while I had a special vodka drink they were offering that day. Our drinks were overall fine but not anything special. My husband's Manhattan was very basic tasting. The menu and the food were the worst parts. The menu is unnecessarily long and phony sounding, like they are trying to be quirky but just come across as fake and condescending. There's extra, unnecessary description of the food that makes the menu difficult and frankly annoying to review. We ordered the bread teaser as well as the hummus. The pesto and the hummus were basic store level quality. The bread was definitely undercooked. For our entrees, we ordered the Cleopatra salad and a pasta dish. The salad tasted fine enough but it was basically just romaine lettuce with a very light dusting of nutritional yeast, vegan cheese, and a very low amount of chickpeas/protein. The pasta was an absolute travesty. It was extremely oily, flavorless, and bland. To top it all off, the food is extremely expensive! They have absolutely no business charging that much. The interior of the place is also a waste of space. It doesn't make any sense that it calls itself a pub. There's also stupid decor everywhere, including a sign that says "no" leading out to an employee-only location. I guess that's supposed to be funny but just comes across as condescending. It's a shame that this place has such a good location with Jim Thorpe and apparently can make a pretty penny serving subpar food and weird vibes. Don't waste your money.
