This review is ONLY about the changes to the way you pay for parking…read more The new parking app makes me never want to shop at Broadway Plaza ever again, and I've been shopping there since I was a girl in the 80s. There was a period of time when I probably shopped at Broadway Plaza 1-2 times PER MONTH (now I'm stuck paying off my credit cards but that's my own fault and a separate issue). What was wrong with the old system? It worked just fine. But now you have to download an app to get out of the parking garage, EVEN IF you were there for less than the three hours of courtesy parking. It's absolutely insane. And even worse, there's NO cell reception in the garage (at least with AT&T) so you can't download the app without returning to the open air mall. Maybe that's why they changed things up? So that for people who haven't been to Broadway Plaza since before the app was rolled out, they might be able to charge for more time? It's unbelievable. And... you have to enter a bunch of personal information. Why do I need to download an app to pay for parking after I've already shopped at the mall, potentially pushing one of the tenants over their percentage rent breakpoint? It's outrageous. I don't mind having the ParkMobile app for parking because it allows me to park on many different cities' streets with little to no hassle. So I'm not anti-parking app. I am anti-Metropolis parking app. At least before, you got a time-stamped ticket so you knew exactly when to leave if you wanted to avoid paying. Now you have to remember to check the precise time you entered the garage, assuming it's even time-stamping accurately. And how do you know precisely where it time-stamps you? Macerich, do better. Relegate this parking situation to the annals of retail hell. Thank you for your consideration. [curtsy]

During the time that the strip mall was being built Safeway kicked out the front and side of the building making it much larger. At that point they gave the store a new number. I started coming here over a year ago and it has quickly become my favorite hole in the wall Mexican spot! Recently, I discovered Mirage Nails next door and have started coming here to get my nails done. It's the perfect combo, right?! Pamper myself with a mani and then right after, pamper myself with some Mexican goodness. Yep... this is why I can't stay away from Sandalwood! I'll admit that I haven't visited any of the other businesses in this plaza quite yet, but there really isn't too much else going on in there. There's a bike shop across the way that's been for quite sometimes. There's also a fitness center, a yoga place, a day spa, and a liquor store. And some of the places that I'd go to - there was a health store - gone, a burger joint - gone, the fancy, healthy food spot - gone, the cupcake spot - gone. You do have to pay for parking, but it's been safe. But still, metered parking in a "dying" shopping center? I'd think that they'd love to have people park. I've been to other places up and down the street and this is the only one where you have to pay! And they have one store, so I only pay for 15 minutes or so. But what a waste! I'd pay for a couple of hours and spend time bouncing from shop to shop, but that won't happen beecause everytime they get another shop of note, it closes down. This is an old school plaza and I want to like it more than I do. I wish they updated themselves, like El Cerrito Plaza. They have some of the same buildings, but built others. they have also updated their offerings and when something closes, another quality store joins them.
