I had been to this location before with no issues, however Jan 19, 2026 was a very different experience. After my service appointment, I had another appointment to get to. While driving my brake pedal felt different, it went lower to the floor to brake and there was a clicking noise - both issues were not there before my service appointment. After my appointment I checked my brake fluid, to see if it had leaked. It was still at the max line and was still dirty.I called the Shop and explained my concerns and they said come by before they close. A fella took my suv and looked it over and came back and said it was fine. Again I expressed my concern and that the pedal didn't feel right, but they were not interested in checking further. The fella at the shop said that the problem probably was the brake master cylinder and power brake booster. He quoted me about $1,400 plus to fix that. I left and went home, worried. Jan 20 l sent an email to the Shop explaining again that things didn't seem normal, and the fluid still looked dirty. That I wondered if there was air was in the brake system. I asked for them to check my suv again. No one replied with a solution.Brakes are important and having the system operate correctly is important for safety. I made an appointment at another shop. They took my suv for a test drive, came back and agreed something was not operating correctly. They showed me the brake fluid they pulled out and how dirty it was, while performing the service and fixed things so they were operating as they should. The $1,400 repair 1 was quoted was not the issue! Jan 28 | emailed 7eighty again and told them I had to go else where to have my suv fixed and new brake fluid added. I had asked for a refund on the brake flush. Asking for a refund I do not think is unreasonable, it's the least they could do. Again after 24 hours I got no response.1 am so upset and frustrated that 7eighty did not do their due diligence in making sure their work was done properly and was SAFE! I feel I have done the right things by telling them my concerns, giving them time to recheck their work and make things right. I would NOT recommend going to 7eighty for service. They do not seem to take the safety of their customers seriously. They lack respect, pride and integrity in the work they perform for customers. BEWARE TAKING YOUR CAR HERE.

Frankly, we were tired of waiting until some jackass decided to saw off our cats and leave us without. This has happened to too many neighbours. We went to see the folks over at ABC Muffler, and Trevor gave us a bunch of options for our vehicles. It was booked within a couple days, and they sorted us out completely. Now, it's VERY unlikely that any thieves will have the time or the blades to make a mess of our catalytic converters. We're going to ABC for everything for exhaust and towing now. Thanks folks!

I recommend avoiding this shop . This is my (Jennifer Shaw) formal written notice ahead of me coming in tomorrow. I am writing to formally state that I did not authorize the removal, replacement, or modification of either catalytic converter on my vehicle. I brought the vehicle to your shop after being referred from North Kia dealership for a catalytic cleaning as discussed. Any work performed beyond what I authorized was not approved by me verbally or in writing. On August 7th when I went to pickup my vehicle I was told that the work was required due to an engine code. However, based on the vehicle's configuration, further diagnostic testing would have been required to properly establish that either catalytic converter had failed before any removal or modification was performed. No such testing was presented to me prior to additional work being done on the vehicle, and performed without my consent. I have also formally filed a consumer complaint with AMVIC regarding this matter: AMVIC Case Number: 26-08-133 Submitted: August 9, 2026 I also learned that your shop is unlicensed (SINCE JAN,2026) and your shop did not abide or enforce AMVIC requirements. I am therefore demanding the immediate release of my vehicle, and return of unauthorized removed parts on Monday, August 10, 2026 while this matter is being reviewed. I was not advised, and did not give authorization of the work that was performed, and I dispute any charges relating to unauthorized services. As part of the complaint and to document the condition of the vehicle prior to the work being performed, please provide copies of all written diagnostic records and test results from August 5, and August 6, 2026. Including, and if performed during the initial assessment: Exhaust back-pressure readings (PSI) Thermal readings before and after the catalytic converters Intake manifold vacuum test results Results of the physical tap and visual inspection Exhaust separation/bypass test results Along with diagnostic codes, scan tool data, photographs, notes, or other documentation relied upon to determine that either catalytic converter had failed. Please preserve all records, photographs, diagnostic data, work orders, technician notes, and removed components relating to my vehicle. I expect my vehicle to be released to me Monday morning, August 10, 2026: The removed parts in the trunk without requiring me to accept or authorize the disputed work.

When I went into Kal Tires to purchase new tires (the same season) they told me the alignment was off and the direction of the treads were completely wrong which Downtown Auto completed. Waste of money. This same auto repair shop told me they could not open the glove compartment but that they would have to break the lock and replace it with a new one that would cost me about $200. I refused the service. A day after my mom opened it herself with a screw driver! When even trained car technicians could not open the glove compartment, my mom did without breaking the lock. Was it they wanted to me to pay for more for nothing? Why would I even I go back when now I'm suspicious of possibly getting scammed (if not already)? The bottom line is they simply cared so little about my car and the service they provided me at the time, how can I ever think of going back? The service was awful to say the least and I did not feel they cared enough for my business or any returned business I would have given them in the long term. The only person that was kind was the receptionist during my first and last experience with Downtown Auto Edmonton repair shop. When servicing is done with care, that would be the auto repair shop you should take your business too. And in my experience, this ISN'T THE ONE. Consumer Beware! Denzel, the new owner of six months, has kept up the good name of this business, and the service was exceptional. We appreciated his friendliness, and we found him to be as honest and transparent as is his policy. Our vehicle was fixed and ready to go faster than estimated, which was a terrific bonus for us. Best Choice is now our go-to automotive repair business. The labour charge is on par with a good automotive service shop. You can likely you can find some cheaper places, however, we've had the experience that you get what you pay for. We experienced that today. One of the issues we had with our vehicle was that we had taken it for an oil change at a chain-business (looking at you, "Mr.") because it was less expensive. We certainly got what we paid for: cheap price and bad service. Unknowing to us, the oil filter that was not put on properly, and over a bit of time a litre of oil leaked out as we were driving around. We can't even imagine the cost if all the oil had had all been lost. We appreciate that inexperienced people learn to change oil and may make mistakes while learning at chain-businesses, but we cannot afford to have their inexperience cause us issues with our car. From now on we will go to Best Choice to have our oil changes done by a trained and qualified automotive service technician. It's likely going to cost more than a chain-business would charge, but to prevent what would have been 1000s of dollars in damage makes it a smart move in our opinion. Car repairs can be costly, and we admittedly have a small income, but better to spend a little more to take care of our car and give up something else from our tight budget than not to have a working vehicle. Also, on the humourous side, Denzel was completely non-judgemental when he repaired the mistake we made and explained what we did wrong on a car repair we did ourselves. Thanks, Denzel -- appreciate that! Best Choice is our top choice, and we highly recommend them.
