I used Twin Transit while staying in a hotel for a little over a week. This service operates only…read moreduring daytime hours (up to somewhere between 6:00 and 7:00 PM) during the week with limited service on Saturday. There are four bus lines with transfer points for transferring between lines. I only used the Red Line, Bus Route 30. It routes through major points in Chehalis to include the Safeway Grocery then to the very cute old part of Chehalis, past the Fairgrounds, Wal-Mart, and all the way up to Amtrak. If you are staying in any of the hotels on Interstate Street in Chehalis, it's a brisk half mile walk to the closest bus stop, which is Route 30. The stop is at the Safeway, but it's in the back, behind, on 11th street, and it's near the garbage container so a little smelly. On the other hand, if you are staying at any of the RV parks, they are too far away from any bus stop. I found their schedules hard to read and somewhat confusing. For example, Bus Route 30 makes a complete loop. The Lewis County shopping mall is on Hampe Street, which can be accessed on both sides of this loop. The schedule does not make it clear whether the bus accesses the mall going north or going south on the loop. It doesn't even address WHEN it stops at this mall. From riding the loop, I discovered it DOES access the mall from both sides of the loop. Well, it would have been nice to know that on the schedule....... Another issue was that since it was a "loop," well, when the bus finishes the "loop" at the last "time point," does it start over again, or do they put another bus at "time point #1" at the beginning of the loop and you have to transfer to another bus if you happen to be on it going that direction? Found out it does keep going on the next scheduled loop, but it would have been nice to have that clarified on the schedule. I think there are so many situations like this that it would make their schedule too complicated and they are just trying to keep it easy and keep the schedule to one page. Another rider on the bus kind of joked, "This is usual for Centralia/Chehalis, they give you limited information and you have to fill in the blanks....." The busses are about the size you would expect but I was surprised at the small number of seats in the bus. They space the seats farther apart than the seats on busses in larger cities. Even a tall person can ride comfortably. In large cities, even though I'm short, I feel crunched in the seats, but on the Twin Transit bus, I had a lot of leg room.

We just moved to the area and called for information about public transportation. Vanessa was so…read morehelpful and informative. She quickly set us up with an account and set our reservation for the next day. Will keep you posted on the buses and ride. Just finished our Dial a ride with Patsy. She was right on time, friendly and respectful. This same attitude was evident on her bus. Everyone riding the bus clearly understood the environment and its expectations. Every rider entered the bus with a "good morning" and received the same from the other riders. It was obvious they all knew each other from their conversations. Sounded like a caring group of individuals. The men were quick to assist needy riders and were willing to stand and make their seats available.

The 8:00 route 1 to Belfair which is scheduled to continue on to Bremerton as the three was 5 minutes late picking me up (this is a regular occurrence for this particular schedule, I don't know why they don't just say that it leaves at 8:05) anyway, we were caught in backed-up traffic due to a pretty bad accident. while I was literally riding the bus, they decided that they just weren't going to continue on to Bremerton today & they didn't know or care about what I was supposed to do. the only answer they gave me was that there's another bus to Bremerton scheduled in two hours. it's thoughtless & unconscionable & abysmal customer care. i am now sitting here on a bench on the side of the road waiting for two hours because they can't get me where I'm going & can't get me back home & they don't care! their only response was "we don't control when there's an accident." as if they have no control over leaving a person with no recourse after they claimed that they would provide you a service & then decided to discontinue that service half-way through!

I am an ambulatory wheelchair user, and I'm so horribly embarrassed and ashamed when bus drivers…read morefight with me about securing my empty wheelchair. It folds up safely and stores with my caregiver, so people who can not get out of their wheelchairs can have the space. I'm trying to respect their disability. Passengers have shamed me, glared at me, and harassed me, all because they strapped my empty wheelchair when I've asked them not to. (They will even fight with me sometime and I either relent or get off cause I'm so mortified) It's so bad I have panic attacks every time it happens, now, and I never actually want to ride the buses I need to depend on to get around idk what to do tbh. I feel so embarrassed and ashamed of my disability as I deal with people regularly staring at me when I get out of my chair..... I've complained to them many times, and I hear it's policy. Yet you can fold and store walkers and strollers, but my EMPTY wheelchair has to be secured. It's honestly not different from a walker, IMO? I stopped sitting in my wheelchair on the bus because bus drivers were leaving other wheelchairs and strollers behind because of me. I can get up, I can walk short distances, and I do not need to sit in my chair on the bus so that other people can have that space. It all depends on what bus driver you have. Some of them respect my wishes; some of them flat-out don't, citing a policy I can't find on their website. EVEN THEN, they have a Reasonable Modification clause that allows them to modify policy if needed. I want them to see how this singles me out and makes me a target cause I have a disability different from the norm. I get enough from other people I don't need my transportation to make it worse, sometimes I'm flat out too scared to get on a bus because all this.... I just don't know what to do anymore, and I'm so fed up and discouraged. I can't tell you how many times I've complained and nothing happens, or I get conflicting stories. I'm just so tired; it shouldn't be this hard to have reliable transportation that respects my needs and those of other people with worse disabilities than mine, who need the space over me. We absolutely should not be strapping empty wheelchairs, and we absolutely should be strapping in strollers with children. Why is that not policy????

We paid around $30 for the 3 of us, round trip. When you arrive, just get in a lane with your vehicle. Vehicles will enter in order of arrival. Fine for those who cut so please don't. If you don't make it on the ferry, then you'll have to wait for the next one. Have your tickets available, online or printed. While you're waiting, there's a cafe and eateries nearby. Once on Anderson island, there's a general store, museum, gift shop, sometimes garden market and other events, a couple of lakes, Air B&Bs. Definitely popular during the weekend so plan accordingly. When heading back on the ferry, line up the same way you arrived. If you're lucky an ice cream truck may stop by, otherwise not much to keep people occupied.

Your ticket is 'round trip, so be sure to hang on to it if printed. Once you arrive, be sure to get your car in line (lines 1-2) and await directions to drive on. The trip to Anderson Island is about 20 minutes, time enough for you to leave your car and go up top for pictures or to stretch your legs. There's a cabin area with tables that you can sit at and eat a snack if you brought one. There's also a convenience store and a park close by the port if you get there early.
