I did, anyway. So it's wonderful to see two familiar faces when I go to Hometown Hardware. This store is smaller than St. Paul Builders, but Steve and Jerry are quick to order anything you need. I wanted some DAP plaster-of-Paris powder, and it was waiting for me the next time I went in--and at a good price. Steve and Jerry are professional, accommodating, and also very nice and friendly. I predict that Hometown Hardware will become as much a local institution as St. Paul Builders was. And I very much appreciate that I don't have to drive a long way just to pick up hardware and supplies. The location in downtown St. Paul is extremely convenient.

Whatever they didn't sell from 20 years ago is still sitting on the shelf, like outdated telephone jacks and other random merchandise. It is one of the larger Aces I have been to and everything is very spread out and open. Not a lot of foot traffic on the day I was there, in fact I was the only one there and the employees seemed bored and tried to be helpful but couldn't actually help with what I came in for. They do make keys there and their system is different from the other major chains so if you are having a tough time getting a copy they might can help you out. This business seems to have some major pet peeve about cell phones as their were 2 NO cell phone signs posted on the front door and then another one posted at the register. Looks like they had a bad batch of customers on their phone and could not get over it haha. If u plan on running in and making a purchase under 10$ then you should bring cash as their sign at the register posts that purchases under 10 should not be run on credit. So there you have it.

I had pickup set for 2pm and when I got there they told me to drive around to the garden center. My order was not ready.. I wasn't in a rush so no biggie. The guy who got my order was an angry bird. It was about 25 minutes to get my order from start to finish. He wheeled over 10 bags on one cart, not saying a word to me. Im a disabled veteran with back issues and I guess he assumed I was going to load it up myself. When he came over with the 2nd cart he let out a loud sign of anger. He loaded up the first amount and I opened the doors to my back seats so he could load the rest in the backseat for me. He broke my rear dashcam and didn't say a word to me, so sorry no nothing. I forgot to put that part on my survey I got after the fact. He loaded up the back seta huffing and buffing. The kind of huffing and puffing as to say screw you, you should be doing this. People pay for pickup for different reasons. This is his JOB. if he doesn't like his job he should do something else. After he was done, he didn't close any doors, I said thank you and he didn't say a word to me. He wouldn't acknowledge me at any time during the transaction, just stormed off in a huffy. On the survey it asked if you wanted a store manager to contact you and I said yes, but no one ever contacted me.
